      Giant Room, Machine, Falling...

      Hey guys,

My first post here so bear with me if I'm missing anything...

I'm 27 years old, and as long as I can remember I've been having the same dream once every few months. It's nearly identical every time, and I never thought too much about it until recently. I don't think there's a specific reason why I decided to explore what it meant now other than a random conversation with a friend.

Basically the dream starts off pitch black, and very shortly after the dream starts all the lights turn on. I'm in a room that's gigantic, miles and miles in every direction, although you can see perfectly every detail wall to wall. It's an industrial/factory like setting, and I'm standing on a metal grate ledge about 3/4 the way up one of the walls. For a few minutes I get a third person view of myself just standing on this ledge, and then it jumps to first person, and I'm looking out over this ledge. Inside this room, is a giant machine, all I can really see are thousands of gears turning, the machine is extremely loud. I have no idea what's its doing, and I just watch it for what seems like forever. Out of nowhere, I jump over the ledge and fall into the machine, and this is when I wake up.

No idea what it means, I've read on a few websites what all the individual pieces mean, but I can't really put together a good description that I can somehow relate to my life. Any suggestions would be appreciated

The scene beginning in pitch back would imply that you see yourself very much “in the dark”, i.e. lacking in knowledge and information. But, on second view or second thought this impression is not long lasting and you can instead see yourself very much “in the know”. The gigantic room would indicate using a point of view that has been very greatly exaggerated. Here this would apply to going from a state of ignorance (where there is no light or knowledge) to very quickly becoming well informed or “in the know”. That the room stretches miles and miles in every direction might suggest that where you see yourself now using a well lit or enlightened and intelligence point of view or way of thinking, that you may have “gone the extra mile” to acquire this state of mind, i.e. you may have gone above and beyond what was required of you. Your point of view allows you to see and understand with great clarity and acute perception. (see perfectly every detail)

Your acquisition of a knowledgeable state of mind could be seen in terms of being industrious but it might also be seen in similar terms as we see the idea of “factory farming”, i.e. by taking a lot of shortcuts. You are in a position that could make you very nervous (standing on a ledge), a position that could test your metal – test what you are really made of – as well as grate on you or irritate you. (a metal grate ledge) Your position also seems to be one in which you may have set yourself up for a fall. Being ¾ up the wall can also imply that you have achieved a rather “high standing” which seems good or godly within a worldly context but also is a precarious one.

What you can see from your position is a giant machine with its many gears, i.e. some working machinery which can represent the idea of a scheme, plot or conspiracy that you have become aware of , one that is part of a system or the system of things. It is how things work. It is the process by which things are done. The great size of the machine indicates the great importance your mind has given to the system of things; to the process by which things get done. The system by which things work makes a lot of noise (machine is extremely loud) and would seem difficult to avoid awareness of it. You seem to have no understanding of its purpose (no idea what's its doing) but seem mesmerized by it. (I just watch it for what seems like forever).

Jumping over the ledge can imply taking a leap of faith in regards to “the system” which results in a fall or failing . Here this failing is one which might be seen as a suicidal or self destructive act, or might possibly relate to becoming a part of, or completely involved in, the system. Perhaps this is the point at which you need to wake up, i.e. to come to a greater state of awareness.
