Girlfriend's recurring nightmare

Hey guys for about a week and a half my girlfriend's been having the same nightmare over and over every time she falls asleep. Most of the time she's sleeping she doesn't really enter sleep paralysis and most of the time acts out her dreams. The nightmare she's been having is her sitting in a chair in the middle of an empty room. For the first part of the dream, she just sits there, staring blankly ahead. Then she starts to rip off her skin in the dream, exposing her organs and muscles, which makes her very squeamish and she usually wakes up having some sort of a panic attack after imagining all of that. While she's sleeping she started scratching herself and trying to dig into her skin so i would wake her up and when i calm her down and she falls back asleep i can tell she's having the same dream as soon as she falls asleep. Does anyone know what this means or has had similar dreams? I feel so bad, any help would be appreciated. Edit: Not sure if this should stay in dream interpretation or if it should be moved to recurring dreams and nightmares as it is sort of both topics.
