      cats??

last night I had a dream which was weird. So I was in this old house, creaky floorboards, dust everywhere. I was just standing in the middle of
the room. Then a girl appeared in the doorway. I knew her. She was one of my old friends who I fell out. She stood there and watched me.
I started to feel very uncomfortable and turned away to look at the old bookshelf. She however, moved closer and just stared at me....really intensely.

A few minutes passed, then i turned around and she was right beside me, just a few inches from my face.I could see grey and black hairs around her face and her eyes were bigger than normal with an amber tint. I asked her to leave me alone and said she wasnt welcome here. Then she made this weird growling noise, her lips scrunched up to show her teeth and she started growling viciously. For some reason I was not scared and just stayed put. She started to hiss while scratching her dress. I said again, 'leave, you are not welcome here, stay away from me; this time a little bit louder. But she did not move. Feeling annoyed, I turned away again with my back to her but like lightning she swung around and was standing infront of me again, the growling and hissing were much louder, it was like she was trying to provoke me. Eventually, I stared at her and at the top of my voice said 'Leave, you are not welcome here, stay away from me, i want nothing to do with you, shoo'. The growling stopped, she moved back a bit and then did this screech like meow and her back hunched (like a cat) and scampered out of the room.

Anyone have any idea as to what this could mean?

I like to sometimes hiss like a cat when I am annoyed. However, since you do not know me that is just a piece of trivia, not relevant to the dream interpretation.

What are your mental association with cats? Do you like cats or not? How well do you know cats? I think these kind of your feelings about them and your knowledge of them or lack thereof could be relevant to the interpretation of this dream. For example, someone who thinks cats are standoffish having such a dream would be very different than someone who thinks cats are independent.

Since the friend is one you had a falling out with, there is a negative memory associated with that. However, since presumably you as a result seldom now think of this friend, can you think of anything in your life currently that may have reminded you of this friend, and perhaps of the negative mental associations with this friend, perhaps something that reminded you of your falling out? It could be anything else that you right now perceive negatively, and want to leave you alone, anything unwelcome in yor current life - could be an unwelcome house guest, an unwelcome project or responsibility, and unwelcome thought or temptation? Something you wish you could shoo away, but it refuses to be shoo'ed and hisses at you instead (metaphorically

I am not a cat person at all, I never really was one. When i was trying to interpret the dream myself, the only thing that I was thinking about was the color of the cat and the behaviour. When i mentioned to my sister that in the dream the cat-girl had grey and black hairs she thought it was like the whole superstitious effect of the 'black cat crossing your path' but I am not really superstitious. I know my old friend had a cat ha! When i think of the behavior of cats, i think about how cats can be sneaky maybe??i Just dont trust cats at all haha!

I did see this old friend on the street the other day so maybe that was a factor in the dream. After i saw her, i heard that she wanted to try and fix her mistakes with me so maybe the dream could symbolise her trying to claw her way back in to my life (Excuse the pun).

First of all, the way dreams work, you really do not need to be superstitious in waking life for dreams to use the ideas from superstitions in the dream. While you are asleep, your conscience, common sense, logical reasoning, etc are not fully functional in some ways, so just because in waking life you are a good and reasonable person, that does not guarantee that you will be in your dreams. If you are aware that a superstition or stereotype or idea exists, your sleeping mind may use those ideas, and that's ok. It could use those ideas at times as metaphors or because of some mental association, for example.

Yes, I think that your seeing your former friend again, and the friend having a cat, and you not trusting cats and not trusting this former friend any more, all that is related to this dream. And I like your pun. I think dreams often express themselves in metaphors or puns.

I had a similar dream about a cat like woman.
I was in my living room when a tall tanned woman suddenly seemed to appear from nowhere.
She said to me " I am not going to sit on the sofa with you any more. "

When I woke up, I had to get the dream down in my journal, as it was very clear, but had no meaning to me whatsoever.
Then, later in the day the family cat walked past, and would not come near me.
She no longer came near me, or would not get on the sofa.
      Quite a coincidence, eh ?

Since that day my cat has shown an increased level of fear toward me, and will no longer stay in the same room.
