Please help me on this one

Right I keep having dreams of me not being able to throw punches in fights, or fight at all. My arm just hits the person with no power at all, I can remember being really frustrated in the dream. Can someone help me with this cos it makes me feel like I can't do it in real life if the time came. It makes me feel powerless also.

      EDIT: I don't like fighting.
Ok children lets start the day with a few new maths problems. What is 5x2=?. Comon children don't be shy just give it your best shot. What about you Clyde? Umm, 12? Now lets try to get an answer from someone who isn't a complete retard.

      Just a thought

That seems to happen to everyone, it happens to me all the time. I try to fend off a monster, or something to that effect, but to no avail. Everything I throw at it is like a baby trying to take out a WWF wrestler. I get that, and then the not being able to run kind of feeling. I've seen it described as being like wading waist-deep in water, and it's so true. As for your dream, I think it has to do with the subconscious fear most people have of being inadequate. It could have to do with many other things, maybe you are self-conscious about something physically, like not being muscular (not saying you aren't, haven't seen you. ) or something to that effect.

      Nah.

Doubt it. I get those all the time and I don't consider myself a pushover. Like I said, it's most likely a subconscious emotion or thought that people have in common, cause most people have dreams like that, or versions of dreams like that.

I made this response to a similar topic this morning:

I used to interpret it as feeling powerless in a real life situation.

This was particularly true when I was a teenager living at home with virtually no control over my existance. Or being in a situation at school that I felt powerless to act on.

Now that I am working and supporting myself I very rarely have these sorts of dreams anymore.
As mentioned, I think its to do with experiencing frustration at being powerless to act on an event in real life. My example is that in high school I experienced social difficulties. I would often dream of being involved in a physical altercation with a person at school, but was punching them ineffectually...

I had similar dreams to do with running, but not being able to run fast enough even though I was trying as hard as I could. I used to have to hang on to other people who were running to be able to keep up. I think this has a similar meaning - trying, ineffectually, to get away from something. In real life I was stuck at home, living in the bush, with no way of escaping until I was old enough to get a job. Perhaps my dream was a way of saying that these things take time.

      Right.

I agree with Rasta. The inadequacy, or powerlessness (sp?) that you may be experienced. Think about events in your life that may have led to that feeling, even if they are insignificant, or have a small connection to it. That feeling could be caused by being bullied, parents yelling at you for everything (Know how that is... ), or even a pet dying and you feeling you could do nothing to help it.
