      Overflowing from a water faucet

A few days ago I had a dream that made me go "hmm"

I dreamed about my nephew, who is now a grown man, but in my dream he was 2-3 years old. He ate something spicy, and ran to the water faucet in the kitchen to soothe his tongue from the burning feeling from the spicy food. (I do not remember what kind of food it was)
But as he kept drinking water, it started overflowing the sink and ran down to the kitchen floor and into the living room.

It didn't make me upset, but just a bit frustrated. I cleaned up the water from the kitchen floor, but as I went into the living room a little boy, a few years older than my nephew, was drinking the water off the floor. I lifted him up, trying to explain that he shouldn't be drinking the water from the floor, as it would be dirty by now. He obeyed without any argument. He just stood up and seemed to be waiting for me to tell him what to do.

I went into the kitchen again, and lifted my nephew into the sink, to prevent the water from running down to the floor again. (not sure why that solved the issue, but it did). I felt quite pleased with myself for having sorted out the whole water mess

I do know that water is usually connected to the flow of emotions. And my nephew was quite the curious kind when he was a kid, very much like I was myself. He did not obey me at all in the dream, unlike the boy who drank water off the floor. I actually felt a bit guilt for not giving more attention to the other boy. Like if I was neglecting him or something.

I actually remember that the best, as for emotions from the dream. The feeling that I should have given more attention to the other boy, not just the curious, spicy-eating nephew.

Kinda lost on some of the symbols.. but the water-symbol I do get. And the motion of the water I kinda get. I also feel that my nephew represents the (still) curious side of me, that sometimes make a mistake.

What I do not get, is the quiet little boy, drinking water off the floor, not doing anything wrong and waiting for me to tell him what to do. Rather contrary to myself at that age.

      Arrow You Controlled Yourself.

Maybe you stemmed the source of life that overflowed out of control into your living, and where you cook things up or get nourishment.
That's why this young or new side of you was awaiting your command, and you felt guilty for not giving it that attention, or giving attention to what you were wasting. Because this quiet new side didn't know what to do, and would do what you said.

You wanted to lift this side of you up, away from the waste.
And could that be what burnt you in the first place? That you were letting the source of life overflow, and go to waste.
I don't think the dream picked your nephew because he was curious, but curiosity might mean where where all your attention or mind and interest is.

You went back and also lifted yourself there, to contain or control the overflow or waste, at the source.
So maybe it's about you felt you were wasting your resources or yourself in some way or area.
      You felt pleased with yourself.
Unless it could be about how you controlled your emotions.

The other side which was drinking the waste was almost the opposite to the curious side not having a mind of its own or where you had no thought yet, so might be your new side that is quiet or not expressive, or should be quiet perhaps, rather than be curious, or than be out of control.

The first part did not obey you at all in the dream, the part of you out of control, overflowing. You controlled it, which pleased you. So both boys were the same boy, or same aspect of you, but the two sides. That's also reflected after you picked up second boy, you had to pick up the first as if he was on the floor too.
One of those plot twists where the two, who are never seen together, turn out to be the same person!!

      CONCLUSION?
You learnt to control yourself, in some new way. I think.

      Does it make sense?

Well, the boys I realise are parts of my personality. As it is boys, and not men, I reckon it is parts not yet fully.. hm.. matured.
But the control-issue.. yes.. well.. I've been sort of a controlfreak all my life, especially when it comes to the emotional side.

You know, I think you might be on to something.. allthough it might speak of letting go of control, rather than a new way of controlling emotions

I think - now - that this dream said that I try to hard to maintain control, because I don't want to get hurt. And that I try to reason with my own feelings to maintain control.
But somehow some of it will seep through. And I know, deep down, that I should address these emotions in a more positive way, and give them positive attention, rather than treat
      them like unruly children.

What wonders outside input can do for my understanding. Thanx

By the way, I had dreams about the emotional state of affairs within last night as well. A smart-ass dream might I add. Kinda wanted to punch my dream-makers right in the face.. but.. well.. kinda hard to do
