Given your screen name, I assume you perhaps come from India? As we know in Hindu religion, the cow is sacred and may not be killed, and yet you had a dream that it was going to be slaughtered in a religious ritual. I think this dream is about the breaking of a taboo, or it could be about upholding taboos and traditions - showing you the opposite to reaffirm that tradition holds firm in your mind. I don't know whether you are Hindu yourself, and whether you consider the cow sacred, but even if you are not, living in India or being from India this cultural image surely is a strong one? Of course this dream does not have to be about the tradition of sacred cow, but it could be about any tradition or even traditional role. I know in reference to your other dream you mention that you lost your job, and in both dreams your wife plays a crucial role. I wonder whether this dream is at least in part about the traditional role of husband as bread winner and provider for family, a role with which you now have a problem because of your job situation, and surely that must have you worried. In this dream, were you uncomfortable with your wife choosing to watch when you looked away and her perhaps speaking in defense of this ritual, opposing you, are you perhaps worried that your role in your household is being undermined by your loss of work, that perhaps your wife thinks less of you or respects you less because of it? If that is a worry, I suggest you talk with your wife about this worry.
Another possibility that I can think of is that this dream is about taking drastic measures. Perhaps you feel that the situation is desperate enough that you might be willing to do something that you would not have been willing to do before? Of course, in your dream you reaffirm that your values are strong, that times have not gotten so bad that you would forget what your values are, you remember not to be inhuman, and you are not thinking selfishly but thinking of this other being - you care about an other. And that is a good sign, a sign that things are not so bad that you would be willing to do something that you would regret in better times.
