Huge, jet-black Rottweiler stalking me in dream.

Hello, I have never done this before, but I have had such a portentous dream that I can not ignore it. I feel the dream was a message and I hope someone will help me unravel the riddle somewhat. I dreamt I was in a house that I was unfamiliar with. I was afraid, because I could feel the presence of something evil outside. My own dog was with me and was also afraid. She was cowering and acting sick. Incidentally, she had white spots on her back like a baby deer has, that she does not have in real life. I had a shotgun so I went outside to face the evil being. Upon exiting the house, I could see that a junkyard of derelict cars surrounded the house and I immediately saw two large black dogs amongst the cars. As soon as I saw them they approached very slowly and I raised the shotgun and took aim. I was full of purpose even though I was afraid. As they got closer, my fear subsided as I could see they were not going to attack. One of the dogs I barely noticed because it was small and insignificant compared to the larger dog; a magnificent, jet- black Rottweiler with a shining coat. He was huge and he simply loped by me without barking or even looking at me. He had a regal air with his head high and unconcerned of the weapon I held pointed. The other dog was in his shadow and passed on as well without looking at me. I woke up then and had a strong feeling the dream was a message. Anyone have any insight as to what it could have meant?

Maybe this dream is about how we fear what we do not see or understand, but once we get to understand it better by familiarizing ourselves with it by for example taking a look, we see that what our fears were not substantiated, that the fear was not proportional to the cause?
