      wolf at the door?

i need help understanding what this dream was telling me

first this happened a while ago right when Bush decided to send troops over to Iraq. i was falling asleep watching the news.

now im in my dream. me and my girlfriend where kidnapped by terrorists. we where at a prision camp or something and there was like a little bunker and then open land all around it. lots of the terrorists where staying at this bunker. they where gonna make us work. (i dont know why this happened but on baseball fields they have those little push wagon things that grind white powder and make the guildlines) the terrorists wanted me and my girlfriend to push those line markers to put guidelines around the bunker. it was suposedly supposed to help them. we started doing it and eventually they all went inside. we stopped to talk and i looked to the left to see a bunch of fence folded up in a pile. i told her we should trap them in and we could get out. so we took the fence and wrapped it around the land like 3 times trapping the bunker inside. then i remember being at my house about to go to sleep. when there was a loud sound. i looked out the window and there were missles coming down around my house. just missing and they were flowing without break inbetween. it was the terrorists coming back for me cause they were pissed. i decided to hide in my closet cause i thought that would be safe, but then realized it was a pretty stupid idea. i walked down my stairs, i think heading for the basement. (my stairs lead to the front door and on each side is a small thin window the same height of the door) while i was walking down my stairs i remember looking through the window and seeing a wolf standing at my door. it was a wolf the size of a average man standing on two feet waiting there. he didnt ring the door bell and i dont even think he saw me cause he was just staring at the door like someone would soon open it....

i want to kno the symbolism behind that dream. i usually have weird dreams but the wolf really boggled me.

You know, there is not anything very complicated about "a wolf at the door". It represents your anxieties regarding living in a hostile world. You know about the agoraphobic syndrome, don't you? There are people terrified of ever leaving their homes. For them, there are effectively wolves at their door waiting to pounce upon them should they leave. I have an older brother who is borderline Agoraphobic, and it got worse as he got older... the World seemed to have reinforced his fears of it.

Not so much a distant War, but violence well within reach of you. Do a survey of your lifestyle and quickly enumerate the number of your friends and acquaintenances who have been victims of violence. You yourself may have been apparently unworried by it all, but if you are able to see any significant percentage of victimization, then you might thereby uncover the cause of what has been an underlying anxiety.

I myself had lived a very risky lifestyle in my youth, and remember one day thinking to myself "why on earth am I running all of these risks for a low life existence that is not even all that much fun". And so I simply walked out on all of my friends from that time and started a new life for myself -- a safer and more wholesome Life.

Many people do about the same thing. It is called 'maturing'.
