      Falling form a high position

Lots of times I have dreams in which I am in danger of falling from a cliff or a balcony and then I suddenly wake up in fear before I fall.Have you ever had such dream? It is quite common. Some people say that you feel like this because your soul returns to your body after wandering out of it for a while but it doesn't make sense to me.What is your theory?

One question is are you afraid of heights in real life?
But my guess is that you fear loss or loss of control. The cliff may represent a high point in your life or understanding, and the balcony a desire to be seen or noticed.

Yeah, the truth is I am afraid of heights in real life but some of my friends who are not acrophobics have had similar dreams lots of times in their lives. Thanks for your interpretation though.

I think it is an obvious question in this context, but, do you Fly in your dreams? If you are not yet flying, then I would suppose that your dreams are giving you some encouragement to start.

many people begin flying in dreams as a result of an initial fall. In my own case, I had been taking large flying strides as though gravity had drastically decreased, but then suddenly found myself jumping into a large canyon, which forced the transition from merely jumping far to actual gravity defying Flying... Levitation.

I also had a dream which starred a rather famous Guru -- Old Shirdi Sai Baba -- there was a cocktail party up on the Penthouse Floor of this really nice building. Old Sai Baba came over and took me by the elbow and walked me over to the window and swung it open and insisted we jump out. Of course, I had been flying in my dreams for years and it was not an issue. However, on our way down, he absolutely insisted that we not pull out of our dive but continue on to the ground. That did concern me. However, what happened was that we 'flew' into the ground, finding it as insubstantial as the air had been. I suppose Old Sai Baba wanted to address residual fears that I apparently still retained.

I fly in a lot of dreams.I have had many dreams in which I was flying and it is such a great feeling.I felt totally free. But in the ones I am in danger of falling from a high place I cannot fly and while feeling the vertigo I wake up.I can't control my dreams yet.

That's very interesting - and a great idea. If people have a fear of falling and hitting the ground (and have enough lucidity and control to change it), making the ground act like diving into water would be awesome. Leo, you should try journeying to the middle of the earth that way and report back to us what you find!

I too have had several of these dreams.

They normally result in all of my muscles tensing upon impact and that wakes me up with a jolt.

The most vivd one I had was when I was flying over the antarctic or some other ice covered place in a hot air balloon.

I fell from the hot air ballon and could see that I was going to land on an Ice berg, it was getting closer and closer until my muscles jerked and I woke up.

I have also had a dream like Leo's in which I was walking but taking massive strides (10ft +). Then I realised I must be dreaming and began flying straight into the air, I still had no control though and found I couldn't stop myself getting higher and higher until I woke up.

I also have a fear of heights in reality.
      The Sandman is near.
