Thread: what does this act signify?!

I have been puzzled by what the act of hugging means in a dream... No literature I have read has specified what hugging itself means so although I have my speculation, does anyone else?

To dream that you are hugging someone, symbolizes your loving and caring nature. You are holding someone or something close to your heart. Alternatively, it may indicate your need to be more affectionate.

the hugging is usually with those i love or may at some point or did but in a nightmare setting. it's not a happy circumstance. it's as though everything else is falling apart.
