Help in interpreting this dream--- Dream with a Bat

      Hi everyone,
I had a dream last night and hope someone here can interpret it for me. Thanks!
I was up in the mountains in the community where I do my social and outreach work and I was fighting a big bat with a stick. The bat was very strong, though as it wouldn't go away.
And, then, I was in my room (with only the night light on), lying in bed, scared, as the same bat I fought with is in my room crawling to my bed. The bat had no wings this time and was longer and had more fur.

So, what does the dream mean? Generally, bats are bad omens that's why I'm really anxious to know what this dream means.

The bat is blind, and perhaps unclean. Your bedroom is your private self, the darkness unknowing, and the nightlight being what little you see in yourself.

You are compelled to enter into a situation blindly.

Sorry, but that's a myth. Bats are not blind, and many can see very well.

Yes that's true, I forgot. They just see better through their ears.

The scene suggests a situation in which you are taking the "high ground". It can also imply using grounds of reasoning that are quite intelligent and even God's grounds. (up in the mountains) [This might pertain to the work you are doing in the mountains in reality]

The bat would represent an aspect of your own emotional nature one which associates often with "feeling batty" or a bit crazy - acting irrationally. This appears to be a feeling you are fighting against - one that seems to carry a lot of weight or importance (a big bat) and may be quite a powerful feeling. (very strong) The weapon you have to ward of this feeling of being batty is some form of knowledge (stick) - knowledge which here can pertain to "The Law" - to the rules you live by. (as a stick is like a policeman's truncheon)

Using your own personal point of view (in my room) you are in a position to rest perfectly at ease (lying in bed). While you have light - which implies knowledge -available, you are still basically in the dark - lacking in knowledge and understanding. (only the night light on) in relation to feeling batty. Your fear of being batty or crazy is disturbing your peace of mind. (bat crawling to my bed) The feeling of being batty now appears to be of longer standing (bat was longer) and more scary (had more fur ... hairy = scary) The lack of wings implies that the bat cannot fly - meaning that this feeling cannot be supported by higher consciousness or intelligence (as air cannot not keep it afloat)

PS. Any dream dictionary or dream information that speaks of good and bad omens ought to be thrown in the garbage. This type of interpretation of images/symbols is an insult to a rational mind.

That depends on what culture you ask. The Chinese (and many other easterners) favor bats as signs of good fortune and longevity. Many Native Americans view bats as trickster (but not malevolent) spirits. Only in westernized (note I did not say western) culture are bats viewed in a completely negative fashion.

Having said that, I will admit that most every piece of dream interpretation material I have come across discloses that the bat is often a sign of death or personal disaster. However, as you stated in your dream, the bat was in your personal room at one point. Now this is very similar to encountering a bat in its cave in the sense that you are in confined location. This could alternatively mean you are exploring unknown aspects of yourself that previously did not impact your life in any significant fashion.

Though I hit upon a few concepts here, there are actually many other ways a dream such as yours could be interpreted. You seem to think that the bat was the focal point here. Was it? Are you sure? Furthermore, are you afraid of bats? If so, is it possible that this dream was trying to assist you in dispelling your fears?
