      Consuming The Earth

Had this dream a few nights back and I cant seem to shake it off.

      - There were artifacts and old bones found in my front yard and a whole team of archeologists came and dug up my yard and I got to help sift thru all the dirt and I found spearheads, bones, pottery and what looked like very old jewelry. -Strange Part- There were little rocks that were dug up and put in a separate bucket. All of the workers/crew began to eat the rocks and I didn’t see a problem w/ that so I ate them too and they were good.

**Background: I do work in my garden alot. I have to remove rocks from garden on occassion. Recently read a fiction book where the plot involved archeology.

My question is why would I dream about eating rocks and enjoying it? Any ideas?

As far as the waking world is concerned, sometimes a craving for dirt, rocks, or large quantities of ice in females can indicate pregnancy or severe anemia in either sex. This is referred to as pica. One's body loses precious minerals such as iron and calcium during the gestation of the fetus and the human body has a tendency to crave what it needs. Dirt, rocks, and even ice may contain such minerals in limited quantities. Somehow we instinctively know this.

Now, in the dream world there are some interesting parallels to what I've just stated above. Old or weak bones represent poor nourishment. This doesn't necessarily pertain exclusively to food, but possibly to emotional or spiritual concerns. Given the fact that an archeological crew discovered these bones, I imagine some of them were broken. Broken bones represent a lack of support or unclear feelings. Rocks typically represent stability. Obviously, there is a paradox present here. Such stability can be extremely negative where emotions are concerned as they may indicate a person who is emotionally closed. The eating of the rocks may represent the integration of new feelings or ideas into one's life--good or bad.

Have you or someone close to you experienced an unexpected pregnancy that you feel unsure about? Has a loved one (even a pet) recently passed away? Have you recently terminated a passionate relationship? I noticed that you have a career in mortuary science. Have you recently had to perform services for an infant or young child? If so, you may be questioning the nature of life and your role within it. You may be tempted to close yourself off from feelings. The archeologists in your dream (which closely align with the dream symbol of a scientist) indicate to me that you are at least mulling something over. The overall symbolism of the dream reveals that you are working through some emotional conundrum.

The fact that the dream occurred in your yard tells me that your inner self was the focus of this dream. The fact that specific items were discovered along with the bones indicates that you need to pay more attention to your own feelings (jewelry) and that these feelings need to be reshaped (pottery) in order to grow--hence the symbolism of the yard where one finds many living things.

Finally, when you experience emphasis on a particular emotion within the dream world, there is a possibly that such feelings are repressed in the waking world. If you have indeed dealt with one (or more) of the circumstances listed above recently, your subconscious may be trying to tell you that you must work hard to sort out your feelings to get where you are going--and you will get there (joy) in time.

Wow...thanks so much for the in depth interpretation. It sounds about right.
As far as the pregnancy goes one of my close friends has been trying to concieve for 2 years now and has miscarried once during this time. A month ago she told me was expecting. Ive been worried for her and ive been praying that everything will be ok.

My work is an emotional battlefield everyday. I have to constantly put my emotions aside and deal with what is in front of me at the moment. I do this very well but sometimes in certain situations when the job is over I do breakdown. When you spoke of this it clicked with what I had deal with last week before I had the dream. I had a call to the childrens hospital. I was without my work partner and I had to carry out a 3 month-old baby girl that had passed away (spina bifida). Usually on a call like this we use stretcher but the infant was still in the hospital room and she had to be carried out like she was still alive. We try to make things less tramatic especially if there are children around. I had the baby girl covered well and I had to use the elevator to get back to the service entrance and there was an older lady in there with me and she was asking how old my baby was. I pasted on a smile and lied to her so she wouldnt be uncomfortable about the situation. That was the most the difficult thing ive ever had to do concerning my job. I got back to the van and just cried. I dont do well at all with children and infants after the fact. It breaks my heart. Trying to emotionally detach myself from those incidents are impossible.

So in those aspects what you said in the previous post (Muezza) the dream somehow begins to makes sense. I thought it would have been something more simple along the lines of "You are a follower and not a leader." -As far as doing what the others were doing w/ eating the rocks and me following along, but it felt like more than that. Thanks for your advice.
