Hello, im new to this forum, I have been reading about lucid dreaming for a couple weeks now and ive been keeping a dream journal for about a week.

It seems to be that all of my dreams are very normal, nothing out of the ordinary, no fantasy worlds. My dreams have included hanging out in a hotel with a friend and runing around, going to coffee shops for open mic nights, one dream was simply me in a car stopping at railroad tracks and watching a train go by.

Only a couple of things have seemed out of the ordinary: in one dream i attended a Miles Davis (famous jazz trumpet player) concert, and Miles Davis was just some really old looking guy sitting on a chair not even playing trumpet, and another time i was wearing a shirt in my dream that i was looking at buying but have not yet purchased.

Does anybody know why my dreams are so normal? Is there anything I can do to have more interesting dreams?

      Thanks alot.

      -anthony

Well, dreams are a reflection of your concious and sub-concious thoughts. Maybe doing things that are out of the ordinary for you would help. As well, as watching movies that may seem odd to you. I've never had this problem. So I'm not sure.

For me it's the exact opposite. My dreams are random, ridiculous, and the opposite of repetitive.

      I must think funny....

I think video games might help try that once i had a dream where i was in a jungle and there was a massive speaking spider and lots of other weird crap i still think that was caused by the cartoons for children (i had that dream when i was young) and another dream was about witches eating a cheesecake as u probably notice my dreams are far from the ordinary but i still have normal dreams just like everyday life

Well, what do you want from life?

If you are ALREADY happy then your dreams can fairly coast along as is.

It is not as though you have some Spirit Quest going on that gives your Dream Higher Mind some Higher Goal to work toward.

Now a lot of new young Lucid Dreamers want to jerk off and kill so badly in their dreams -- really driven perverts and psychopaths -- that these sick and disgusting urges are their dreams motivations. Who knows but that the Legions of hell do not give them a helping hand.

But you seem normal enough. If you are where you want to be, and life is more or less what you have planned, and you are doing okay, then your Dreams are doing fine as long as they can maintain the good ol status quo. No?

I hate my dreams. I've never had a vivid dream in my life. They are SO messed up that it's hard to go lucid. I'd love to have your boring dreams. That way when I become lucid I wouldn't be in some screwed up place.

Yeah, my mind wanders throughout the entire day, except for maybe 10 times 5 seconds long I'll stop and become aware of my thoughts. I need to start meditating....

My head is usually just filled with random garbage, which explains my wierd dreams. I usually just think of what's interesting. No Leo, I do not think of killing or rape, which is why my dreams don't contain that.

      Leo-

thanks for your response - I guess that my life is going the way I have planned, but Im still in highschool, seems like I should have these high hopes and stuff, rather than just being satisifed with the way everything thing is now. You said, "It is not as though you have some Spirit Quest going on that gives your Dream Higher Mind some Higher Goal to work toward." Does this mean that to have dreams that are more out of the ordinary my mind needs some goal to work towards?

      TweaK-

haha, well I guess my life is boring for the most part, and I guess that this is being reflected in my dreams? Would just having the thought that my life is boring have the same effect as my life actually being boring? If I lived a boring life but thought it was exciting would my dreams be more exciting?

      Megabenman-

I guess I should just let my mind wander then. Lucid or not, I think being in a screwed up weird place would still be more interesting than anything ive been dreaming of.

      Thanks for all the replies,

      -anthony

my dreams are completely insane, full of airplane crashes and fantasy epics and alien attacks. i recomend reading fantasy books
as i was falling asleep last night, i said to myself, i will remember my dream, i will know i'm lucid, i will know i'm lucid, i will know i'm lucid. then i saw dinosaurs running at me and i said, "Holy Crap! i wish i was dreaming!"

No, don't let your mind wander! I'm pretty sure that by letting your mind wander to lower your chances of becoming lucid. When you're mind wanders, you're not aware! When your mind doesn't wander, you are aware! So if you mind wanders a lot in real life, then you'll just have less lucid dreams.

Also, I don't think it would matter much about your mind wandering, more just what you think about when your mind wanders.
