I think you're right. That probably means something connected with friendship. Not so bad omen to put yourself about it, but caution is recommended in relations with your so-called friends...
The left hand relates rather to emotions than logic, and you were bit in your left hand, so your feelings are vulnerable to get hurt.

Yes Dog Bites in Dreams are supposed to indicate someone being loyal to you would utimately betray you in some way, but it could also indicate repressed anger or even fear considering dog's usually bite people and other animals as a defense mechanism.
