      Wisdom teeth?

Ever had a dream that just stays in your head because you feel like you're missing something?

I'll try to be as specific as possible, but here are the main parts of a strange dream I had the other day:

I needed to get my wisdom teeth taken out (which, incidentally, I really do need to have done...and soon). So I went to a place downtown in a not-so-great looking place, but I felt alright about it because it had been recommended by a reliable source. Since I can't remember what the source is, I'm going to just assume it was a friend or a really great oral surgeon article or something.

So I walk into this office (which is much nicer-looking on the inside), set up an appointment. I'm feeling pretty good (though nervous about the procedure) until I walk in and see who my oral surgeon actually is. He's a character in a popular TV show right now, but I put more stock in the books that the series was based off of. I happen to be really interested in anything about this character (I'm a big fan), and absolutely love this guy.

Anyway, it gets complicated in that I apparently already know him from what's SUPPOSED to be my real life, and he's aware that I'm dreaming. So I ask him what in the world he's doing as an oral surgeon. He shrugs, and we converse a little more about vague things before we set up to extract my teeth. The weird thing is, he's really, really professional and performs the extraction as if he's been doing it for years. Also, he seems to know that the anesthesia will make me ill if he gives me too much of it and watches it carefully (though there is absolutely no amount of coddling involved, just clinical attention that's observed).

All throughout the procedure, he keeps me awake and I feel the first extraction come out (just thought I'd add, the extraction happens as if my wisdom teeth are regular teeth and not embedded under the gum), but then something happens and the procedure is interrupted. Since the anesthesia runs out, I have to set up another appointment to come back and do it again. Each time we attempt to get all of the wisdom teeth out, some sort of interruption happens, and we end up speaking about things that I don't remember. I just recall that they were very interesting and I felt safe in the room. It was simply fun to be there, and when the interruptions happened, I'd stay there and speak to him about things and he'd also tutor me on anything I had trouble on until the anesthesia wore off.

Though he did absolutely nothing out of character besides maybe engaging in lengthy conversation with me about things that are usually too disturbing for most people to handle, the intensely warm and fuzzy feeling that I got shouldn't have been there because that's not the kind of person he is depicted to be.

Another thing I thought I'd note is that even the friendship, because it developed into such a deep one, was one that had to be kept secret because he was in a relationship with someone. The friendship was not even about my caring for him or him caring for me (though I did care), but simply enjoying the time that was spent there. He is, by type, a very distant/closed off character who is absolutely disinterested in getting to know much of anyone, and doesn't even care about his girlfriend--he just keeps her around out of necessity. In fact, I remember avoiding mushiness very carefully, and there may have been something like admiration or physical tension going on.. but nothing huge.

...Whew, that was really long. The dream left off in the middle of a conversation. No real cut-off point, actually.

I've heard lots of people's opinions about what pulling teeth actually means, but this dream was so pleasant. Does anyone have any thoughts?

      Thank you.

I would say because you mentioned that you do need this procedure in real life that it doesn't actually mean what usually pulling teeth or teeth falling out dreams represent. Because of the descriptions you said about the office from the outside would represent your fear or uncertainty about the procedure or what is to come. Though, when you get in the office you see that it really isn't as bad from you think it is and plus you knowing the surgeon through TV and trusting him makes even more calming. By any chance is the character (the surgeon House?) Just guessing. Anyway, with the procedure getting interrupted every time could represent yourself maybe wanting to put it off so you keep rescheduling it for a time maybe when you're ready. With the long conversation maybe your subconscious mind telling you that everything will be fine. Though, I don't know what you were actually talking about so I can't say much on that part. Though, I think with the general mood of happiness… Represents that maybe you feel better or more comfortable about going to get it done.

Whew, it's been a long time since I checked this, but I wanted to say thank you for the feedback.

What you interpreted sounds pretty much spot-on, actually. I've had time to think about what this dream could have meant, and all of that coupled with what you've noted, I feel much less bothered.

By the way, it would have been really interesting if the oral surgeon had been House. *laugh* But it wasn't him.

well I believe that dreams can make extremely sophisticated points.

PULLING TEETH: something usuually so bad
PLEASANT: actually it was pleasant and enjoyable

Put these together and you egt

"yesterday I was expoecting something to be a nightmare. Yet it was not so bad after all."

Does naything fit that. What about you thinking about the day to come

Some dreams mark a change in our feelings. They represent a new and fresh insight into some situation in your life. They maybe represent a new strategy to a task that you are focusing your mind on. Other dreams do not link to a change in our thinking. These dreams will simply link to strong emotions. They maybe show that a pressing issue is dominating our thinking. Perhaps it may link to some difficult relationship that simply will not resolve itself. In such cases the dream will capture your continuing strong emotions and frustrations.
