      Whales

      Hello everyone

I had a rather odd dream the other night and was wondering if anyone could try to interpret it for me.

So, in my dream I was a whale (a blue whale if I'm not mistaken) and was swimming under the water with another whale (that was a blue whale as well) that seemed to be my friend. As I said before we were swimming under the water except that we were under ground at the same time, as if there was an ocean under the street complete with street signs. I remember telling my whale friend that I had to get to work, although I'm not sure how we were communicating. This seemed to make the other whale angry. I remember getting to my workplace and being fired by my boss for no apparent reason.

That's about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Whales are said to be a symbol of a protective being. Probably why it got angry when you said that you had to go to work. It new that something bad was about to happen to you. Is somebody trying to tell you something that you're ignoring or missing completely?

I often find that water - especially the sea - represents our unresolved emotions. This is the part of us we simply can't understand but we know is there. It sounds like you were resolving some of those emotions (street signs), which seem to point to anger.

Just my guess. Consider how you felt.

Well we have comflicting needs. This dream links to the two different sides to your personality

part of you wants spiritual harmoney and relaxation. yet you also need to feel enthused and maybe accept the need to concentrate ..at work perhaps.

So your dream links to one side overcoming the other. You have to reconcile the two sides of you

      ------------------
One way of telling how vital dreams are is to study people who are deprived of sleep and dreams.Sleep deprivation is very dangerous if it continues for extended periods. If you are deprived of sleep for several days then you will slip into madness. The reason for this is that sleep and dreams are linked to vital brain functions.
During the day we store up new thoughts and experiences within short term memory blocks. So if we are deprived sleep these become overloaded. The mind has no more space to store new feelings so these are merely forgotten.
During sleep vital brain waves emerge. Beta waves and theta waves are only ever detected within the brain at night. These help us process through those new feelings and experiences stored in short term memory. We integrate these new feelings into long term memory blocks. So if you do not sleep then you will not be updating your thoughts. You will not be building a bigger picture.

Any animal in your dream represents an emotional aspect of your own nature – one giving you the inclination or motivation to feel a certain way. The whale can be used in dreams to represent specifically the feeling of wailing or mourning. As this a blue whale, it can simply emphasize the idea of “feeling blue” or sad. When wailing or mourning you are in fact seeing the idea that this feeling could be working in your best interests or even doing you a favour. (with another whale that seemed to be my friend) The problem here, is that when living this feeling you have gone from being a human to being but an animal. This can be understood as demeaning to you. As a human you have access to rational thinking whereas as an animal you live only your emotions.

The scene shows that where you have chosen to live from the perspective of your emotions – probably those of wailing or mourning – the environment in which you find yourself has actually undermined rational grounds of thinking. (swimming under the water except that we were under ground at the same time)
The street signs reflect with the idea of a course of action that we would usually associate with cars on land. This would imply courses of action taken using rational thinking without emotional influence – yet when in water no such course of action is possible – because water is an emotional medium.

You may need to tell yourself that you need to “get to work”, i.e. act in a way that pays or benefits you. Yet at this emotional level of feeling, this suggestion seems only to anger you. (This seemed to make the other whale angry) You may need to question how you are communicating this idea to yourself. (not sure how we were communicating) Here this communication is seen as from one whale to another.

Your own ego structure (my boss) is putting you in the position of someone not working. (fired by my boss) ‘Working” can be understood as functioning well on a psychological level. To you, the idea that you may not be working well psychologically might seem to have no reason. (fired … for no apparent reason)

[The explanation for this lies in the fact that thought(implying logic) creates an emotional response. This is like a male having a female respond to him. If you are living from an emotional perspective (as a whale) which is associated with the female, you are in no position to guide yourself with reason as is your right as a male. A male has been granted the ability to determine how he wishes to feel. His own thinking can elicit any feeling in himself that his reasoning is capable of producing. Can your reasoning produce nothing but a feeling of sadness? Do you really want a life living with sadness?]
