      fear of being kidnapped

So when I was younger, maybe 7 or 8 i started having this dream that reaccured throughout my childhood and into my teen years(dream never changed) Very short but i just wanted some opinions. I dont have the dream anymore. So in my dream like i said im like 7 or 8 and im outside of the old house i used to live in and im hiding behind a bush and im scared and hiding from someone like someone is trying to kidnap me but i dont know who and never see the person its just the feeling and fear that i always felt in that dream. Any input?

well, do you still worry about being kidnapped?

I'm assuming not since you created this thread, so maybe it's just because you think a lot about this dream that it keeps coming back?

      sorry, I'm no expert.

no i have never had a problem with worrying about being kidnapped when i was younger, nor do i now. and im 23 now and the dream only lasted throughout my early teen years. and i have often wondered why i used to have that dream when i have never even feared being kidnapped. so i put it on here to hear some opinions about it...

most dreams will link to everyday feelings. Often a kidnapping symbolises a loss of control. the dream may have been triggered by someone who was acting in a very intimidating way the day before. Or by people forcing you into doing something.

      ------------------------
Dreams deal with extremes. If you truly understood the meaning of your dream it may be quite negative. We are our own worst judge. We try to detect signals coming from other people. Do people feel we are not cool or incompetent? The dream mind is often very harsh and honest. It tells us things that we do not like to admit to ourselves. It tells us things that we fear. Its worries about how others are seeing us. It’s a big harsh dose of reality.
Yet the dream mind also heads in the other direction. It captures our fantasies and positive feelings. Sometimes you wake up in a positive mood and feel that you are going to tackle a task in a particular way. You are invigorated and positive. Dreams then help motivate us. But often if we go too far in one direction our dreams tell us to cool down and not get carried away. This makes sense really. The dream mind then explores feelings connected with our judgment. We need to motivate ourselves but we also need to be realistic.

yes I know what you mean. Often if you dop not interpret the dream straight away then it will be lost forever

      ------------------------
Dreams are not so much a record of events they are more a record of our feelings. The rational waking mind may describe an event that happened the day before in this way "I was talking with my friend yesterday and he was talking a lot about work". The dream mind is less interested in events and more about feelings. The intuitive mind looks at the same incident and thinks "I was with my friend yesterday and he was acting strangely. Normally he talks about our friendship but he seemed to be talking a lot more about work".
A dream does not really record reality in any systematic fashion. It is merely describing events by pointing to emotions. A dream may simply be a collection of feelings. Such as "I was doing housework and felt tired", "I was talking to my brother who always confuses me" and "I was in a tornament aiming a crossbow at a target". So when a dream contains a series of unrelated events and feelings it maybe refering to something that you have recently felt. Together these symbols build up a conceptual set of feelings about something happening in your life. So this dreamn was maybe refering to the previous day when "I felt tired and became steadily more confused trying to figure out how to complete my task. I decided to set myself little targets. It helped me conquer my own brain fatique".
