Really weird dream, what's it mean?

First I went to YahooAnswers to see if anybody knew what my dream meant, and one guy referred me to this site, so now I'm gonna ask the same thing, here goes...

I dreamt that I was in a stark white room and a disembodied voice started talking to me...the man said his name was Malekai and that he needed to tell me something important. He told me I had to protect HER, even if it seemes she was safe (I have no idea who the dream was referencing)... and then I woke up to my dad shaking me...but for the first few seconds everything looked like a film negative. I wrote all this down so i wouldn't forget, in case you're wondering. I was in the living room and trying to work the DVD player --weird right?-- and my dad said that my eyes were open but I was unresponsive and he almost called 911. So what happened, was it just a freaky dream mixed with some sleepwalking (ive only ever done that once before, when i was 10), or something else?

Well it was definitely sleep walking, but why it occured could be for a variety of reasons. Are you on any sleep aids, like Ambien? They can have odd side-effects like extreme cases of sleep walking (some people have painted their front-doors or even walked blocks away form their house).

The sleep walking itself is most likely just a rarity, possibly a result of being very tired and falling to sleep too quickly or perhaps some subtance/drug side-effect, but if it happens again, I would stop any unneccessary medications and consult a physician.

Now, as with most dreams, the actual "meaning" behind should be taken with a grain or two of salt; like many things, there is never usually a right or wrong interpretation, and it is an entirely subjective experience.

I would say Malekai was likely a figure of protection (a spirit guide, guardian angel, etc.), and the "HER" to whom he referenced could be one of two (or possibly both) people: yourself, or an aspect of yourself, or perhaps someone close to you, like a mother, sibling, etc.

What you are to protect them from I'm not entirely sure... perhaps physical harm, perhaps psychological, it's hard to say.

Now for a more symbollic interpretation, I would say Malekai is a manifestation of your subconscious which feels compelled to inform you of an imminent threat to some aspect of yourself, likely a feminine aspect like empathy, love, or compassion. Perhaps there is some sort of angst or anger festering deep down that it wants you to avoid or release, as to avoid damage to "her".

      Hope that helps!

I'm no expert like Ailos seems to be, but I did see a show where I learned that when people sleep walk, it is sometimes caused by them feeling the need to finish something.

For isntance, before you went to bed, were you messing with your VCR or some other device but gave up on it?

If so, a lot of times your body will naturally go back to what you were doing in order to finish the job.

This might not apply to your sleepwalk but I was just pointing it out just in case it does.

I agree with Alios thoughts on dream interpretation. Interpretation is nothing more than opinion. Sometimes dreams are just dreams. Sometimes they have a meaning. Not anything mystical necessarily, often times it's something we think about with some regularity.

I would say it is very difficult to interpret someone else's dreams, because really the dream was created by your mind, because it was meant for you. Which is to say that you are the only one who knows truly how you think, how you look at things. Your subconscious will communicate things to your conscious in strange ways sometimes. For example. Once I dreamt that I was in a world-class arm wrestling chapionship. This guy was really strong and it felt like he was ripping my arm off. After I lost, he clutched my arm twice as hard, and said, "you think you can just roll over me?"

I immediately woke up to the same pain in my arm, and I had rolled over on it, and stayed there for a long time, apparently, because it hurt

That's obviously a very generic, standard example, and it gets far more complex. Just a thought to ponder about interpretation Take a look at yourself first.

Listen to this. My mother took some sleeping pills one night and she sleepwalked all the way into the kitchen, found a metal bowl in the cabinet, took a piss in the metal bowl and left it on the kitchen table then went back to bed. This was in my aunties house. It was fuckin hilarious.
