      Woke up blind

Normally I just shrug off my dreams, whether it's one about a zombie horde and me as the only normal human, being at school naked and forgetting where my classes are (been out of school 12 years now), or whatever. The one I had today really scared the heck out of me.

In my dream it was 2-3am and I was lying in bed about to go to sleep. I remember saying a little prayer or having a thought about wanting to be like "them". I have no idea what it meant. When I closed my eyes to sleep in the dream and reopened them everything was black, I couldn't see.

This scared me so that I woke up...and I still couldn't see. For nearly 10-20seconds I couldn't see, then I had the thought that maybe the power was out, and it was still night time. Once I had this thought I could see instantly, like someone had flipped a switch.

Once my vision returned I noticed it was daylight.

Should I be concerned with waking up blind?

that's very odd, but from my very limited knowledge, you were probably still in SP (sleep paralysis) when you woke up and you merely "hallucinated" the blindness. Were you lying in bed when "someone flipped the switch"? or were you standing up or something?

I've had a slight blindness when waking up, sorta like brownish looking, and it slowly fades after about 20 seconds...Maybe you got outta bed too quickly and your mind was still technically dreaming?

Don't get too worried about this, just do this when you wake up, lay in bed for a minute or 2, and slowly get up, getting up too fast can cause that..for me that is.

I had actually stood up. I opened my eyes but they didn't work, well the eyelids opened, i remember blinking a few times but couldn't see. I was all in a panic until I thought, maybe it's not actually the time of day I think it is, maybe it's still night time and the electricity went out. Then it was like a slight pop or something and I could see. I was standing about where I guessed.

In the dream it was just an odd thought I had while lying in bed. Then I blinked and couldn't see. It scared me so I woke up, even kicked my wife in my panic.

      **just saw your post guerilla**

Wasn't brownish, was pitch black. Didn't fade in, just a kind of pop inside my head. Nice to know it's not just me it happens to. Not that it's a nice thing, just nice not to be alone, scared the poo outta me.
