i had another strange dream last night

in addition to my little superhero dream the night before (fri night) which you can find on a thread in this discussion board, i had a strange dream last night (sat night) and i would very much appreciate it if you guys could help me interpret this one as well...

now a bit of background, yesterday (sat) was filled with much arguing in my family, though we sat down to a ncie taco dinner and watched A Beautiful Mind. i was suposed to hang out w/ my friends, in fact 2 ppl said that they would call me back, and yet they never did. so i was kinda depressed over that. thats the background of yesterday.

the dream began in some sort of theater house or something liket hat. i always forget how dreams begin so sorry guys. but i was with my family and we were inside the building ready to leave. we were takling about how our cousins/aunt/uncle were supposed to be arriving at that very theater later today for one reason or another. so we start to look outside and its pouring rain when it wasnt before, though i believe the sun was out. the theater was aparently on the beach because there was sand all around the entrance/exit of the building and we saw a bunch of TUGBOATS (???? any significance?) being tossed and turned and capsized in the raging water. i said 'i have an umbrella!' and so we all went outside into the rain.

i dont think we even got wet at all but it was still pouring, sunshowering if you will. i remenber saying 'lets just swim acros to the dock!' (we were apparently taking a boat back home and the dock would have been very easy to get to by swimming straight across the turbulent water, if the water was calm) but my mom said 'no we have to walk around the sand'

so we started walking, my rbother was giong to swim but my mom said NO. all the while we have the unbrella stretched over our heads (later on it turns into a towel which is easier to stretch, though it doesnt keep you as ry, but as we werent getting wet anyway it doesnt make a difference

)

we randomly sat down in the sand because there were too many people and we couldnt get to the dock. it stopped raining and we were talking about going for a swim. i saw other people helping the tugboats turn back over to right side up, not even questioning that the tugboats are too heavy for even 10 people to turn over! but whatever.

then it started raining and my cousins and uncle came in a coach bus that was ont he water. it wasnt a boat, it was jut a bus ont he water. they came, said hi, and we all left together. in the opposite way of the dock o.O

i dont really remember much that happened. my bro was playing with this toy harpoon type things that were really water floaters, i duno...

please help and make sense of w/e u can, thanks!

um guys i know im asking a lot here but both of thesse dreams are realy bugging me and im getting kinda depressed esp since i have not had any dreams clarifying/finishing these dreams off.... please help!!!!

Your tugboats suggest that your ability to make big changes/moves/manoevres (big ships) in your life is floundering. Whatever storm is in your life at the moment is stopping you make the changes you want to make.

The wet/dry contrast is there throughout. Your social (female?) self seems to be immune to the storm or has resources to cope with it but your rational (male?) self represented in this case by the tugboats struggles.

hmmw ell i suppose thats true... see saturday i was suppsoed to meet with my best friend who moved to NC (i live in NY) but she went to hang out with her other friends and kinda ditched me. then i had other plans (well maybe.. my other friend, a guy friend, said that he wanted to go to the movies with liek 2 other pppl but he wasnt sure, so it wasnt set in stone but i was kinda looking forward to it)

i think my 'storm' is that i dont think that i have any real friends to confide in...

speaking of which, 2 days ago in psychology our teacher asked us to think of what comes to mind when we think of the word 'friendship'. another one of my good friends doesnt say my name but says the name of my other friend and another classmate. i was a little bit hurt by that, i mean shes not my BEST friend but i sit at the lunch table w/ her, we take the bus together, etc.

so last night i have another dream (it was a day after this occurred but still)...
it was about this tide that kept going over the land. it wasnt like a tidal wave but the water just kept spreading over the inland one wave after another. i was trying to run from it. actually my guy friend who i was supposed to see a movie with was there (he was sunbathing and reading a newspaper? then he got knocked over by a wave)... i kept running and i climbed over a hill and the water was still coming so i climbed over a minature white house buidling? dont ask me why cause i dnuo... but it was the white house and i climbed over it and then on the other side the water wasnt there but i knew it would come so i kept running and looking for places to hide. i tried to hide in an alleyway but it was blocked by some houses then i ran some more, saw a guy jogging, tripped, discovered that i was dreaming, and woke up.

could that be an extension of my storm dream?

It could be. Storms, tides and floods suggest to me powerful forces of nature that have no compassion and no reason. For some reason I'm thinking that these surges represent how you feel about people - society - everyone. But that could be "my stuff" and your meaning could be very different.

Friend reading the paper: Sounds like he's content to be alone, and this is a part of you too. I would contrast that with your experience of your female friends where being the one left alone seems to hurt. But you can be both the hurt girl and the content guy [1], and I think that's what the dream is telling you. Not sure about the trip at the end. Perhaps it's just a waking signal in your dream.

I'm not sure that the dreams necessarily have anything to do specifically with your recent interactions with friends, although it sounds like some hurt from earlier in life has been evoked by your friend naming someone else rather than you in class.

[Three-way/group coping is one of the most difficult things an infant has to learn (when it realises that mother/carer has someone else or many someone elses in their life). If you've done Freud in psychology you'll know about the oedipal complex.]

[1] For what it's worth, I dream of content women all the time. Must be an opposite-gender thing.

well my parents raised me very well and im the oldest child so your psyuchology thing i dont know i dont think it works for me... i like being the oldest and helping out and whatnot and my family isnt all that bad so w/e

and ya i have soceity. tho i love freedom in america, i hate america. its too capitalistic. in other words, i hate society. yes im anti social at times so the storms could be my need for ah... want of attention? tho somrtimes i dont want any attetion at all... mehh

my friend was only in the dream for like 3 seconds... as i was running over the hill he as on the top w/ sunglasses and reading a paper and then the wave topled him over and i ran over the white hosue,e tc....

i know my dreams are weird and i can kinda figure them out but some things are just so weird...

any other takers? XP

To be clear - "society" wasn't meant to be a national/political thing, just a way of saying "the people in your world". And the family thing doesn't imply good/bad or any judgement about upbringing. It's part of being human. Why else do we hate/hurt feeling ignored/left out?
