Your dream is a little hard for me to interpret so please forgive me if I seem off. I actually haven't done this in a while so I'm a little rusty. Your dream seems to revolve around conflicting emotions to me.
The rainbow of colored jewels may represent the crystallization of colors. I define crystallization as a process where someone develops emotionally, mentally, spiritually, etc. It's like turning a piece of coal into a diamond. The jewels may show how you have become stronger over time. It may also show how valuable that growth is.
The fact that the jewels were many different colors may show the diverse amounts of emotions you have developed over time.
Different colors represent different emotions. I think much of your dream may revolve around the concept of auras. Are you familiar with the story of the Leprechaun and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Well I think this dream is a variation on that concept. The diversity of colors in the rainbow is related to the amount gold in the pot. In the case of your dream you would substitute the gold in the pot with jewels. So the jewels are a measure of your spiritual wealth.
Our emotions often relate to past experiences. Some say that time spirals. Past experiences directly influence our future experiences. The nature of those experiences determines how you grow, or crystallize. Note that crystals are grown over time.
The revolving doors may illustrate the relationship between the past and the future. The fact that the revolving doors were hard to turn may show how you've encountered emotional conflicts which are holding you back. These emotions are keeping you from growing. The burley security guards may represent strength. That strength protects you, keeping you emotionally 'secure' and in the case of your dream this strength as represented by the security guards keeps you moving forward. In the case of the dreams your strength is forcing you to move ahead despite the emotional conflict that are holding you back. The conflict that is preventing the revolving door of past and future experiences from spiraling.
The different X-Mas cards also seem to represent emotions. Past experiences that I imagine were positive for you. X-Mas cards are signs of our families and our friends affection for us. These positive relationship are their way to let us know they care. The memory of these relationships and experiences, as represented by the cards; make you strong.
Hair is synonymous with strength and identity. In the Old Testament Samson got his strength from his long hair. Cutting it weakened him. Hair also carries our genetic code which is the very essence of the basic roots of our identity. Everything we feel, our memories, thoughts, etc. gets recorded on our DNA and by the nature of the relationship to the hair.
As I said before, some past memory or emotional conflict may be hindering your crystallization. The idea of cutting your hair may represent an unconscious attempt to get rid of that aspect of your identity that has begun to interfere with your ability to move forward into the future. The fact that the dream took on the appearance of a 'scratchy and jumpy' old film may also be showing that you are getting stuck in the past .
The idea of being stuck in the past may be also illustrated by the idea of being on a beach. Typically the beach (assuming it's on the ocean) acts as a natural boarder between two 'states' (or nations, etc.). Being on the beach may have signified the idea that you were on the threshold, ready to travel to new states of consciousness; to an "Undiscovered Country" representing new emotions, mentalities, etc. The beach may be showing that you were about to take that next big leap in your emotional growth, but for some reason instead of moving forward you chose to turn back in the opposite direction. You were being drawn back to the hotel, possibly stuck in the past.
The 'unconventional shop' where they were doing experiments with light and sound may signify your minds attempt to use emotional conflict to make you stronger. By getting a haircut you would have temporarily gotten rid of the trait (DNA) that was hindering you, but at the same time getting rid of the trait might have made you weaker (I.E. Samson). Not letting you get the haircut forces you to accept the trait. As a result you are forced to work your way through adversity in the same way you were forced through push your way through the revolving door, but the adversity is not making you stronger. Your strength comes from working together with others. This is why you needed the help of the security guards to push the door. Working in true harmony with others is what makes you strong. In your case you worked together with the security guards. Learning to work together with others is a strength. Needing help is not necessarily a weakness so long as you don't grow to dependant on others.
As I said before, the light and sound represent emotions. I don't know if you believe auras exist, but hypothetically I think it's safe to assume that we all emit electromagnetic energy on some level. The room with the cinema screen was capturing the light of the aura being emitted by the lady. In a way her aura may have been acting in the same capacity as a movie projector emitting light, but this light took on a distinct form, as images. Film is one way to record the past. It is similar to how our mind records memories. How the lady's mind changes (I.E. emotions, mentalities, thoughts, memories, etc.) influences how the images change on the screen.
So in summery, the rainbow represents harmony. It is the harmony that made you strong in the past; but your mind has begun to experiment with the idea of using conflict to make you strong. It's possible that your dream is telling you your unconscious mind is monitoring your reactions to adversity in much the same way the lady's responses were being monitored.
Personally, I think harmony (peace) makes you much stronger than adversity (war).
I apologize if this interpretation sounds a little too much like hippy-trippy spiritual mumbo jumbo. I usually try to keep interpretations more objective, but I couldn't find more down to earth examples to correlate with your dream.
