      Different Dreams, Reoccuring Person

I keep having these dreams that are different, but I always see the
same person every time -- this guy that was my first crush from high
school. I wasn't even thinking about him consciously at all, but
somehow he's been reappearing in my subconscious, and I don't know
      why.

The first time I saw him, the dream was that I somehow travelled back
in time four years and was in the cafeteria, and saw him at one of
the tables. We saw each other, but didn't say anything.

The next dream was, I was with a bunch of people, and we were playing
some sort of game where if you were a chicken (or maybe it was a
duck) the person who was "it" had to kiss you once, and if you were a
wolf, they had to kiss you twice. Well, my old crush was it, and I
was a chicken/duck, so he kissed me.

The last dream I had was I was in school again, and saw him. Then I
woke up -- but I was still dreaming -- in a bed with beige covers in the middle of the mall, and I think he ran by. I saw him run into this store, so I followed him. I managed to catch him just before he went in the back.
What I remember saying to him was, "Are you for real?" and then he
started talking to me, but he was whispering -- which by the way,
would be totally out of character for him; he was kind of arrogant --
he was saying something about how a plane had been delayed or
crashed, and his mother had gotten a job here (at the mall) and he
was staying with her. Then I woke up for real.

I've been trying to figure this out by myself, but with no luck. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

For me, dreams where people are in the past seem to represent a lack of growth.

I think something is keeping you from growing and that something may be an emotion like lust, anger, and/or fear.

Your guy may represent a first love who has had a lot of influence on you. Perhaps you identify with a characteristic that stand out in him.

Being in a cafeteria, a place where you eat, represents a type of communion between different peoples. The food you eat represents some aspect of your personality. The saying that best illustrates this is "you are what you eat".

Games seem to represent frames of logic. Like logic, games have rules and regulations that affect the way different bodies interact with one another. The frame of logic of the game seems to lean towards anger, hatred, fear, and/or lust.

The chicken represents fear and perhaps submission. The wolf represents anger and/or lust and dominance. Perhaps you switch back and forth between these emotions. I believe this system of logic may be what is hindering you. The duck may represent caution, an attempt to 'duck' (dodge) something or avoid something. This may be an alternative to being feeling fear.

Waking up in the mall may represent the part of you that has grown. The mall is a place of commerce and productivity.

At this point I am really not sure, but I believe the fact that he is whispering may show that his influence on you is subtle or that it is waning to the point that he is becoming nonexistent. Perhaps that is why you asked him if he was real. You were asking if he existed.

The plane which has been delayed or crashed represents that next big step in your life. It is a stepping stone for growth. The plane is meant to allow you to go beyond your current limitations, but the plane is either crashed or delayed. This may mean that you are in a state of arrested development. Something, like that logic from the other dream, is keeping you from growing. Whether the plane is crashed or delayed is your unconscious' way of asking whether you'll be able to make that next big step. If the plane is delayed than it is only a matter of time till you make that next big step, but if the plane has crashed then you may have permanently lost the attribute which was designed to allow you to take the next big step.

Also, going back to your game dream, their seems to be a question of whether you are the duck or the chicken. If you are the duck you may have the ability to fly beyond the hunter (maybe your former crush). If you are the chicken, than your ability to escape the hunter is much more limited because you can't fly. If you are the wolf, you are the hunter. This game may be a eat or be eaten mentality you have. The hunter may be what is hindering you.

I speak from first hand experience. I have had dreams which seem to illustrate similar ideas. I'm not trying to be insulting in anyway. I hope this helps.

      Wow...O_O

That's amazing, so deep, so keen...

Thank you! That helped a lot! By the way, what kinds of dreams have you had that "illustrate similar ideas"?

      Thank you

I have had a lot of dreams/nightmares with similar images. For example, I often have dreams about my dining room table or the cafeteria table at school. Usually I am eating with a group of other people. I associate the a table with the image of The Last Supper, where the apostles commune. Each person at the table represents some aspect of my personality.

In my most recent dream, I was at my dining room table. Two or three people went to sit at the table with me. One of the girls was an old classmate that we'll call Carolina. Carolina is one of the more dominate archetypes in my dreams, but she is also one of the most annoying. Carolina can be very beautiful at times, but more often than not she is mischievous and unappealing. She means well, but for some reason her actions always cause me a lot of problems. They are a real turn-off.

It took me a long time to realize and accept this, Carolina reflected flaws in my own philosophies and ideas. She also represents witchcraft. I remember when we were young, I always would look at her and think about how she looked like a hag. (I know this is mean )Note that she was a child at the time, like me. My archetype isn't meant to comment on the actual person. Carolina was a really nice person, and by junior high she became really attractive. She is just a reflection of my own flaws.

In the dream, Carolina brought a piece of pork into the house. She put the pork on the dining room table. The three other people at the table began to eat the pork. I hadn't touched the food yet because I knew something was wrong.

I knew something was wrong with the food because of a technique I use to fight off evil. The concept is called "no evil". It is short for 'See no evil, Speak no evil, hear no evil'. I have learned to focus on not sensing evil. It helps me to get past certain obstacle evil has placed in my way that have been difficult for me to overcome. A lot of people believe sensing evil helps you defeat evil, but I have learned this is not true. Not all knowledge is power, only moderated knowledge is power. Knowledge has to be balanced between good and evil for it to be useful. I use 'no evil' to maintain that balance. You shouldn't focus too much on evil or you become evil. Only through balance can one remain good. Evil is a distraction meant to keep you from focusing on what is really important, good. Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about the problems in our lives, that we neglect to take time out to appreciate what is good.

Not to get off track. Earlier in the day, while I was awake, I told myself "no evil"; specifically to see no evil. In the dream I couldn't see the pork. I knew it was there, because everyone else was looking at it. The fact that no one else could see the pork meant that the pork was probably evil. I'm not saying all pork is evil, I'm just saying that particular plate of pork was poisoned with evil.

I wasn't completely sure, if the pork was evil though. I had certain doubts. Rather than jump to conclusions I suggested to the others that they refrain from eating and wait until we find out the nature of the pork, but they didn't listen. As the others ate the pork they began to change into pigs. This confirmed my fears.

Apparently this was an attack on the houses security. Evil sough to weaken the houses defenses so they could enter. The pork represented lust. It was a Trojan horse meant to turn my allies into foes. The dream is showing me how, in the past, my own lustful desires have threatened the security of what I valued possessions; my home. Your home protects you from the elements and acts as a foundation for family. Fortunately, experience and wisdom has taught me how to anticipate such problems and how to stop them before the problem grows bigger. While it took me a long time to accept this, it appears that my dreams are telling me I think about sex a little too much. Now I focus on other things, and I avoid sexual thoughts as much as possible. It seems to be working.

I dream abou werewolves and chickens. I also dream about different forms of transportation. Each form of transportation represents a means of advancing in life. The faster and and farther the form of transportation is able to take you the more you are able to advance.

      Encore, Encore!

OK, since you are so good at this would you mind interpreting another one of my dreams? This one also happaned to involve my first crush. It was in high school, during the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Festival, which my school held several times. I was walking down the hall on the second floor, looking in all of the rooms and seeing the judges and the music stands. I don't think I saw anyone else performing though. Then for a moment I saw my old crush. He was standing in a doorway, close to me, looked at me and said something like, "Aren't you going to...?" Then I saw him in one of the rooms, playing -- but he wasn't playing his instrument, the cello, he was playing the violin, which I also would have played.

Thanks so much in any case! ^_^

I'm not completely sure to tell you the truth. I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure if the pieces will fit. What I'll do is take the different images, interprete them seperatly, and we'll see if they come together.

Like I said before, your crush may represent a trait that is dominate in your life. You said you were on the second floor. I find that stories... rising from floor to floor, represents ascension. It is a form of growth. It is much like the elevator or the ladder which often are used to represent rising to heaven. Perhaps you are rising to a higher state of conscious.

In dreams, I find that my archetypes often judge me. They evaluate me and make decisions based upon my performance. If I do well on the tests they give me I am promoted and if a fail I am demoted. It is possible that the judges in your dream represent such a test. It is your minds way of trying to determine if you are responsible enough to take that step to the next level.

The school may also represent be another symbol representing graduation to higher levels of thought. In school, if you want to pass to the next grade you must first pass the tests given to you in your current grade level. Each little test paves a path to graduation. If you continue to do well you will eventually graduate and get a degree in whatever course of study you are taking.

Perhaps your mind is growing taking that next step, but before you take that next step you must first prove you have what it takes to succeed on that higher level.

It is like being at work, before you can be promoted in your job you must first prove to your employers you have what it takes to do that particular job. I believe that some of the greatest men and women in history are people who graduated to that higher state of consciousness. Reaching higher states of consciousness may mean you have an opportunity to mature and become more intelligent person.

"Aren't you going to...?" , this may be your crushes way of telling you that an opportunity to prove yourself has presented itself and you must take it. It is possible that you haven't been taking advantage of some type of opportunity or that you have unused potential that needs to be tapped.

You keep referring to him as you old crush. This may indicate that he is the archetype that puts 'pressure' on you to go beyond your perceived limitations. He seems to keep you from becoming complacent. This archetype may be forcing you to act, to improve yourself and become the best person you can be.

Instruments and music also represent forms of logic. They govern higher forms of order. It is like the angel who plays her harp; music is meant to work in concert. Maybe you are meant to work with your crush in order to prove yourself. It is like the difference between an ameba and a human being. Amebas only govern one cell while humans govern millions of cells that work in concert. The difference between the two life forms is their level of intelligence. I think the human mind is a compilation of many different smaller mind working in concert with one another. Each archetype you see in your dreams represent one of the many minds working to form your consciousness.

These are very positive signs that seem to illustrate a type of evolution within your psyche. Remember that not everyone grows, there are people in the world that actually devolve mentally, so in my opinion you are doing well for yourself. I think if you aren't careful you may loose out on some great opportunities. It is possible that the anger and lust from the other dreams is interfering with this growth. Your mind may be trying to give you more power, but you must prove that you are responsible enough to take that next big step. I think that such checks and balances are meant to protect the human mind from itself. They are a type of coping mechanism meant to keep us from biting off more than we can chew.

I'm glad to be of service, your not just saying that are you.

I take the dominate images and symbols from my own dream and apply them to your dreams. I try to translate the symbols into what seems to make the most sense. Some symbols are a play on words, like "chicken" or "duck" while other symbols are based on impressions, how the image impacts you or society as a whole.

I have drempt alot since high school. After a while the images began to fall into place.

I was wondering, do you really play the violin? Do you play professionally? Also, what sparked your interest in dreaming? Also, do you like anime?

Believe me, I mean it with all my heart ^_^

      That's really cool. I'd been having lucid dreams for a while, but I just didn't know what they were called, or anything about them until I came into this forum. Even now, I'm still pretty much clueless about dream symbolism ^^;;

Well, I used to play the violin, but in the second semester my senior year in high school, I was faced with a schedule conflict: either continue taking orchestra, or drop it and take Creative Writing. Being a better writer than a musician anyday, and also loving writing more, I decided to quit playing. Sometimes I still play the violin at home, though. In middle school, I also played the clarinet and the piano.

YES! I LOVE anime! I'm what is commonly known as an otaku -- in Japanese, the word actually means a huge fan of anything really, like a football otaku, or a theater otaku, however, in an American context, it means a huge, diehard fan of anime and manga, which would be me ^.^ As you might have guessed, Sailor Moon is one of my favorite titles, it was one of the first that I ever watched. I guess since there is a lot about dreaming in Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon was a perfect theme. In fact, the character Hotaru actually sees Eternal Sailor Moon in a prophetic dream in the first episode of the fifth season, Sailor Stars (a part of which is currently in my sig).
