      Getting undresed at the office

      Hi
Here's a dream I had a few days ago. It's about work. I am currently unemployed looking for a new career, new job. I don't know whether the dream actually hints at career issues but anyway I will be happy to see comments
on the dream as it puzzles me.

In my dream I am at the office with my former boss from about eight years
ago. only that this time around I am not a sales guy but his advisor. While
i am in the office a guy is coming for a job interview with the boss. I say hello shaking his hand, and i guess it was a loose hand shake, as he seemed to offer half of his palm. I took notice of it and while the bos asked me what I think about the guy I told him i would not recommend to recruit him and added
that it will be his call. Then there was a meeting with the boss and some other workers and for some reason I took of my pants and sat there with
only my undepants for a little while, then I noticed it's only myself and I
      dresses up.
In reality the particular boss is remembered as a friendly boss/CEO though I quitted the job because I did get along with my direct manager at the time.

      Thanks for any clues.

There might be feelings coming out in the open in your mind. You might feel aprehensive about getting a new job, perhaps.

WORK : some thought linked to work or looking for work
UNDRESSED : having to show your true self. feeling vulnerable. Fear of ridicule

Often dreams capture some key thought or feelings from the day befoe. try weaving together the symbols meanings to form a thought eg something like this

"I hate looking for a job. The employers look at everything. You are really stripped bare. They look at all your vulnerable points"

Its difficut to know exactly what a dream meanings. but I tend to interpret them in reverse. Look at what they could capture in real life. first try tospot the issues that would trigger your dreams..

      ------------------------
Many people think that dreams contain messages. Yes thats true to a certain extent. But really dreams are often just our best guesses. Dreams are symbolic of judgements that we have to make. Often we do not have access to all the information that we require. For instance you maybe angry that a friend seems uncooperative and seems to have been sending out some very negative signals. That maybe the best guess that you can come to. Yet you may not have all the facts and you might be in ignorance as to the real reason for your friends strange behavior. So try not to see dreams as being the best source of advice. They merely reflect some latest judgement. That judgement is probably the best guess but could very easily be wrong.

      Thanks guys
It could very much be the case that this dream points to feelings I may
be supressing. Interviews have always been an unpleasant experience.
The thing with the loose handshake... I guess the dream took a previous
experience I had sometime ago in real life, where I was having a few coaching sessions with a coach, and I took notice of his loose and nervous handshakes.
So I guess I am also anxious with regards to some of the things
I need to approach in life and find difficult.
Obviously being aware of negative emotions is an important part of the job,
followed ofcourse by experiencing them and releasing.

Notice that you are his advisor. Showing that you are looking at how employers look at job applicants. You are looking at what he needs to spot. so in real life you are looking at your own behavior. You are knowing what you need to do to impress employers. Yet your pants still fall down representing fears.. weaknesses.

      ------------------------
Dreams can use one set of emotions from the past to show how we are feeling something very similar right now. That’s where many dreams can be misinterpreted. Many psychologists point to deep and traumatic events that we are bringing up within our dreams. Yet they are mistaken. The dream is not about that incident. The dream is comparing that traumatic incident to some current situation with something that has just happened. Yet because the dream seems to be about the event in the past we assume that’s what the dream is about. But in reality dreams will be often simply saying "yesterday was as bad as what happened last year". Many times we seem very upset and things seem chaotic but after a good nights sleep the previous day’s events will be put in perspective. It may have seemed a nightmare when we couldn't get the printer to work or when everything seemed to go wrong for you on a particular day. Dreams depict events in our head. Our mind often exaggerates situations and feelings. So many times these crises within our mind get quickly forgotten. But dreams will deal with these here to day and gone tomorrow emotions.

I am not sure taking the pants of represents weakness but rather being more authentic.
In the dream I felt it was inappropriate cause I was the only one, so I put the pants on again.
I am currently unemployed and facing a dillema to get back to the corporate 9 to 5 work or becoming self-employed as a coach. I believe the manager in the dream represents me as a decision maker, the advisor is my wise-self which do not recommend getting back to the past (accepting the candidtae)but rather becoming self-employed. I think the dream was hinting on the idea of becomg self-employed as a coach, by drawing my attention to the loose hand shake I experienced with that coach I met in real life who was self-employed. I was trained to work as a coach but I was having hard time making something with it. So taking the pants on in the meeting is maybe like saying.... this working place is not for you.. I won't be able
to BE MYSELF around here.... and that is what I want to be in my career
      MYSELF. :-)
      what do you think>?

      Hi Neptunian

Yes I agree with what you are saying. The getting undressed may link to the wish to be more authentic. Yet maybe it goes even further. Its very much a "I don't care attitude.". The manager may represent your wish not to have a boss and your own wish to say goodbye to that world... by becoming self employed.

      ------------------------
"That printer. It cost a fortune and is always breaking down. I will never buy another Epson printer again. They are designed to break down". These were the exact feelings that one dream captured. Yet its only with experience that you can understand the symbolism. The topic was not linked to precisely.
We tend to link dreams to faraway places and other planes of existence. But once you understand dreams you will find out that they tend to link to feelings that are all too familiar. They capture immediate feelings about relationships or the general frustrations of life. The symbolism maybe diufficult to understand. But tahts simply because dreams talk in a language that we do not fully understand. That is made worse because dreams often make no attempts to help us understand their meaning.
