I am so deeply sorry to hear about what happened to your lovely brother. I lost my brother four and a half years ago. He was the co-pilot in a plane transporting food in Africa. He was 28 years old with a wife and two children. I still see him in my dreams and it helps me to have this contact with him, even though I know it is only in my mind. Following his death I spent two years actively pursuing answers as to whether there is a God and a heaven. I read countless books on religion, life-after-death research, evolution, cosmology and quantum physics and the Bible itself. Although I had considered myself a Christian for thirty-four years, suddenly I had an important reason to find out whether the beliefs I had held in blind faith for so many years were actually based on truth. Here is my opinion on the matter of your dreams and whether or not they are premonitions based on the conclusions I came to:
Personally I have not found any evidence whatsoever that leads me to believe in the existence of God, or anything supernatural including ghosts, premonitions, astrology, superstitions, tarot cards, palm reading, mediums etc. In fact I have found strong evidence to the contrary. Since I started viewing the world from the scientific perspective everything makes sense to me and I have felt a lot more peace because I know that what happens happens and we just have to make the best of what we have got. There is only physics. There is no magic. But there is love, and love lasts forever.
If people really did have dreams that were premonitions, and psychics really did exist then we could reasonably expect that at least one person out of the 6 billion on this planet would have had a premonition or dream that was able to prevent the terrorist attack on 11th September 2001, or the Boxing Day Tsunami 2004 which killed a quarter of a million people. The fact is, there are 6 billion people living on this planet all of whom dream every single night. Statistically speaking, every night somebody in the world (probably more than one person in fact) is likely to dream about a motor vehicle or motorcycle crash. Every day in the world people are killed in motor vehicle and motorcycle crashes. So every now and then someone will have a dream about such and then someone they know will be killed this way. If you are that person it will feel very meaningful to you. But you are merely a result of statistics. Something a very wise person told me once was this: "Everyone tends to think that statistics don't apply to them".
You said you were open to anything so I've told you what I truly believe. I apologise if it is not what you want to hear. In my opinion, your dream about your great aunt is merely an expression of a subconscious fear. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope this helps you.
Take care and Kia Kaha,
M
