      Complex dream about many things?

Hi, I'm still kinda new here. I'm really glad I found this forum. I would like to submit a dream for interpretation, if anyone wishes to take a stab at it. However, the dream is about a year or so old. But I can still remember several details about it.

First, I'll fill you in about me. I'm a 35 year old father of two girls. My youngest is one month old! I work evenings as a caretaker...good paying job, too. My wife and I have been married for almost 14 years now. First marriage for both of us. We are in the process of getting renovations done in our house...a basement bathroom and family room. I am necrophobic (fear of death and dead things) and I love to make people laugh. Can't think of much else that might be very relevant. Oh, wait...I LOVE Christmas!!! And my wife and I used to have 2 cats, one black and one calico. We recently got rid of them and later found out that only one took the move okay. The other, the black cat, ran away. We fear that she may have died. I actually went along the highway looking for dead animals (something I would not normally do!). I didn't find her, thank goodness!

Okay, I had this dream last year sometime. It started out with me at work (I work at a school) and I was on a break, so I went across the street to get a slurpie, like I do in real life. I had a friend with me, and his wife was also with us. Just outside the store was an entertainer. A girl. She was trying to tell jokes, but was flopping left and right. My friend's wife and I were laughing to make her feel good, but my friend was cold about her "jokes". And then my friend and his wife left. I went inside the store to pay for my slurpie, and the cashier was the entertainer. She was sad, and I tried to cheer her up by saying kind things about her. I felt her sadness. I don't remember if I was successful in cheering her up, though.

Next, I was back in the school, in the staff room. It was messy, and under construction. In fact, the entire school seemed to be under construction. They were putting washrooms on the second floor (there really are none up there). I remember walking down the second level hall and seeing where the washrooms were going. Then, I remember the school looked like it had a spooky part that I had never seen before. But yet, I recognized it. There was an elevator and it was stuck between floors, all the while flooding with water...dirty water. There were other people with me, and I was lifting them up to the floor above (the elevator doors were open). I also got out. I think there was something alive in the water, like crocodiles or fish. Can't quite remember.

Once we were all out, the floor was sloped downward, and I knew we needed to go that way. So, I proceeded to go alone. I headed down the sloped hall which was narrow. I may have been heading east. Once at the end of the hall, it had a corner in which the hall continued downward, now west. So, picture a long hall with a downward angle slope and then another hall running parallel to it, but going even further down. Before I headed into the second hall, there were two small girls who just stood there. I walked right past them and continued down the hall. This hall had rooms, with doors open to them. I looked in some of the rooms. On of them had my black cat in them. She was hissing and growling...and she was dead! Yet, I was not afraid. I kept going further, and I woke up before I ever got to the outside.

If I were to interpret this dream myself, I would say that (looking back) the school's construction was somehow a foreshadowing of future events. That is, the renovations I'm in the process of getting done at home now. The two girls could easily be my daughters, even though I had only one at the time. And the dead, angry black cat could also be a foreshadow of things that were yet to have come (getting rid of our two cats). There are a few other things that I think I could possibly figure out, but I may already be way off base!

Any interpreters willing to give this one a try, please do! I would LOVE to hear from you!

      Hey Paradox,

If you're still around, I'd like to take this dream on. I know you're a 35-year-old male, but what is your ethnicity, and what country do you live in and what general part of that country is it. Also, what is your astrological sign? I think I can figure the general date of the dream from what you've already written.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I need that minimal info to do an interpretation. Hope to hear from you.

Hey thanks! I've been waiting for someone to reply. The info you were asking about ...

I'm Caucasian (German), but was adopted by an Aboriginal man. Never really was exposed to his ethnic background, though. Grew up with this man (as my only known father) and my real mom. I live in central Canada. I'm a Cancer.

Since my initial post, more things have come to pass. For example, in the dream renovations were being done to the school (staff room). At the time of writing the initial post, I assumed it may have been a foreshadowing of my home renovations. While this may have been the case, my school is now actually undergoing major renovations, staff room is included. This has already started and is going through the summer, 2 years after the dream!

The corner store in which I mentioned in the dream (where I got the slurpie) has since been demolished. It's now an empty lot. No plans on anything going in that spot as of yet. I'm quite sad about that, as that's the place I often went to get cold drinks, including many, many slurpies!

As of the last few months, I am now an active magician. Something I was not at the time of the dream, although I have been involved in magic for 24 years. I wonder if there is any significance to this and the performer in my dream?

Lastly, we brought 2 new kittens back into the home. Our oldest daughter absolutely loves them!

Anyway, that's about all, I think.

      ***EDIT***

Oh, I just remembered something else. About a month ago, one of the school's boiler system's pipes began to leak rapidly overnight and ended up flooding that area of the school. A classroom was vacated for the remainder of the year because of it. It's an area where the floor is sloped on one end (has a small ramp). Reminds me of the part of the dream where there was an elevator stuck between floors and there was water below, and the sloped hallway. And even though we don't have an elevator in the school, there's talk about getting a wheelchair lift from the main floor to the second floor. That's also recent, relative to the dream. And lastly, a handicap washroom was put in the school last summer, but not on the second floor as in the dream.

      ***END OF EDIT***

If you think there may be something else to this dream, I would absolutely LOVE to hear your take! It seemed like such an important dream! By the way, I also had another very recent dream in which I posted here titled, "Magic and Flying". It also seemed important, although was not quite as detailed.

Gordon Jerome's Interpretation of Paradox-db3's Dream

      The Dream:

This dream occurred around December 2007 and was dictated by the dreamer known as Paradox-db3 in the Dream Views Forum on December 12, 2008 at 9:15 pm with an open request for interpretation. I found the post on June 25, 2009 and volunteered to interpret it. It is a non-reoccurring dream, and I have cut and pasted his dictation of the dream as well as his explanatory notes as follows:

First, I'll fill you in about me. I'm a 35 year old father of two girls. My youngest is one month old! I work evenings as a caretaker...good paying job, too. My wife and I have been married for almost 14 years now. First marriage for both of us. We are in the process of getting renovations done in our house...a basement bathroom and family room. Dreamer’s Biographical Info:

Paradox is a 35-year-old married man of 14 years and a father of two daughters who lives in Canada and is of German descent. He is an active magician, and his astrological sign is Cancer. He also states he suffers from necrophobia, but that he likes to make people laugh. He works as a caretaker at a school and states that it is a good-paying job.

      Assessment of the Dream:

Going across the street to get a slurpie is a self-indicator. You immediately recognize it as something you would really do. The girl you encounter is you. And the jokes she is telling that are flopping represent they way you come across to people differently than you intend to. You telling her nice things is a message from the spiritual plane telling you nice things about yourself.

There are some apparent precognitive elements of this dream, given the updates you posted about giving away your cats and the one that may have escaped and died, and the water pipe that broke in the school along with the renovations. However the school you go back to after buying the slurpie represents your soul. It being messy and under construction is a clear sign that you are going through major spiritual turmoil and reconstruction.

Washrooms on the second floor are very significant. They represent a gathering wash in the higher aspects of your soul (Consider that when Christ had the last supper with his disciples it was in an “upper” room, and it was there that he taught them probably the greatest of all his teachings.).

The spooky part of the school represents a dark area of your soul that you are frightened of, perhaps a contradiction. A stuck elevator represents a stalled progression to a higher spiritual state. The flood of dirty water is exactly what this dream is all about. The dirty water represents what you are trying to get rid of. That there is something alive and hidden in the water is a clear indication of a repressed personality trait (and not coincidently, you are a Cancer and Cancer is a water sign.). The other people you are assisting are your previous lives that have also tackled the problem this dream is trying to correct, but they have failed and it is up to you now to change your karmic fate.

The hall you go down represents an exploration. Notice that you have left your previous lives behind and “proceed to go alone.” It continues to slope downward like a slippery slope, past the two girls that are precognitively predicted, since as you said, you only had one daughter at the time. Nonetheless, you are proceeding down to an even lower level than they are on. And the girls themselves, actually represent more than your daughters, they represent contradiction.

The rooms you find in this hall represent spiritual lessons you have learned in the past that you are re-examining. One of them is a precognition of your cat that you will give away and the resulting lesson you will learn from that.

      Conclusion:

That a school represents your soul and that you are exploring all aspects from the top to the bottom of it indicate that you are soul searching and trying to learn about yourself. I get the impression that you are revisiting the lessons of the past, because the manner in which you come across to people is not working. It’s interesting that the answer is buried deep within the lowest levels of your soul. I think this indicates a personality issue.

A Cancer is typically a contradictory type of personality, and it’s intriguing that you use the nic Paradox; I’m not sure you could have picked a better one. And I think that’s what people are seeing in you, contradiction that you see as paradox. In other words, there are two opposite aspects of your personality that you see as coexisting naturally together, yet others see it as contradictory. The two girls whom you simply walk past without a care represent this paradox vs. contradiction issue.

But there is good news: this whole thing may be resolved already. The construction represents the reconstruction of your soul during a great deal of self-examination. And at the very start of this dream, the Divine, is telling you that you have a lot of good qualities. Also, that you are helping the people who represent your previous lives indicates a healing karma.

I don’t know the specifics of this. I don’t know what you’ve encountered from other people, and I don’t really know if you’ve been successful at resolving this contradiction in your character. I get the impression, given what the girl was doing in the dream, and the fact that you say you love to make people laugh, that you may be coming across as insulting when you don’t mean to be, or maybe that if others don’t have a sense of humor, you may seem a little hostile to them. It’s worth taking a look at anyway.

And that’s my interpretation of your dream, Paradox. It’s a hard one, for sure, because it’s precognitive in many respects, yet it took place a long time ago. Nevertheless, it was a fun challenge and I hope it helps.

      Sincerely,

      Gordon Jerome

Thanks a whole bunch! I normally would not subscribe to such dream interpretation (I certainly was not expecting somrthing as deep as you presented), but your interpretation actually struck many chords! I feel I do come across as arogant or rude to others when I'm simply trying to be funny. And yes, it's something I'm constantly aware of and trying to work on.

I often feel as though people see me as a liar. I say one thing and act another. For me, it's harmony, but for others looking in, it's disunity. In performing magic in the past, I felt I was not connecting with the audience. This made me more nervous to continue the show. However, I did a show just today, and finally connected with the crowd! The mom came to me afterward and said she was totally impressed and was not expecting anything like that! I was speechless!

As far as the spiritual turmoil...it started around the time of the dream, and probably even earlier. I was raised a Christian and over the last few years, have actually re-evaluated my beliefs. I no longer consider myself a Christian, and am starting to feel okay with that. It's a journey.

Many of your other points seemed to be bang on! I am blown away by the seemingly accurate statements made. Thank you for taking the time to do this for me. I'll be in touch with you personally.

Well, you are more than welcome, Paradox. And I'm really glad to hear that you are now finding the way to make the connections with your audience that you want. Don't be surprised if that doesn't become something you're very good at.

I hear what you are saying about being a Christian. I can't help but think that true spirituality is hard to contain in a set religious format. It seems that one has to be free in order to really find God, you know?

Anyway, I'm glad I could help, Paradox. Talk to you later.

Gordon, you may only have 11 posts, but the quality and the length of these posts are astounding. Keep up the good interpretation.

Thank you, very much, Exhalent. I've been doing it for about twenty years, but never publicly like this--just friends and family, you know? I really love it.

Oh, and I love your nic and avatar. Very cool.

I may not have come to exactly the same conclusions as you, Gordon, but that's no matter when you can analyse a dream like you did there. I love your commitment and your attention to detail. I especially like the precognitive part. You get my vote!

If you're interested in posting your thoughts, I wouldn't mind a second opinion. I feel Gordon was very bang on with some of his statements, but that doesn't mean you won't be with some of yours. I hope you can fill in some blanks, or add your info!

P.S. I like the precognitive part also. After all, that's the route I originally was thinking.

Seriously, though, thanks for valuing in advance my contribtion.

I'm a bit stuffed for time at the moment but will try and take a look. I find it hard to come up with a truly independent analysis when I've already read someone else's, though. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

No, I'm with you, on that. I do like reading your analyses, but I can't interpret after reading others interpretations. It takes away my own objectivity and intuition.
