      Through The Looking Glass

Well, I have been having dreams every night that I can recall after waking up without fail for a little over two weeks now. Is this even normal? Well, it's not for me. Anyway, last night I had a weird experience with my dreaming.

In my dream, I was at an amusement park/mall (Dawn of the Dead) with friends and family. It began raining (Return of the Living Dead), so we went to a restaurant in the mall, but it was full so we were seated outside under an overhead. Alas, all the tables were full except one, in which a sole elderly gentleman sat at the end. Lucky me ended up sitting next to this gentleman who was slightly weird in behavior and appearance. He said nothing. I wasn't worried for him, which would have normally been my first act, but worried for myself. Then beyond the restaurant's tables, a boy ran across the beach as if being chased. And on his shirt I could clearly see the words:

      "Friday
      The
      13th"

I didn't think it was possible to read words in a dream. Then again, I didn't think it was possible to die in a dream.

That was the first thing that threw me. In fact, so much so it woke me up. It was still dark outside, so I fell back to sleep. Now this is where it gets really weird. I woke up back in my dream. Not where I left off, though. It was as if things continued without me.

There were a ton of people sleeping in the mall's theater (28 Days Later). I had to walk around quietly to wake everyone I recognized up, with an inkling of urgency nipping at me. I found my mom first, then my dad, and then this weird neighbor of ours who I haven't seen in years and never cared for because his son was a punk. Anywho! When he woke up, he let out a roar loud enough to wake the dead. No pun intended. I herded everyone I could out, and eerily enough wasn't upset that not everyone who was initially in my dream was there again. It was as if I knew I wasn't going to find them.

Outside the theater, among the chaos, I saw a friend from Florida trying to get my attention. He and a bunch of others were going to try and run through the put-put course, which appeared safe. I told him it wasn't.

And then I woke up again.

It was still early morning, so I fell asleep again fairly quickly. Once again, same dream, but events had already occurred without me. I found myself alone in the mall, staring into a glass elevator full of people. They weren't moving and they were each very pale. Only their eyes followed me as it began to descend.

Then I woke up for the final time.

Now, I've gotten used to remembering my dreams each morning, but they keep throwing me surprises. I didn't know you could die, let alone have lucid dreams. And I certainly wasn't aware that one could read in a dream. I faintly recall someone saying I should try reading in a dream because it wasn't possible. And I certainly have never woken up twice in the early hours of morning, only to fall asleep to the same dream. Now, I'm trying to interpret my dreams, and as you can see I labeled them in areas that reminded me of zombie flicks. I've been itching to have a zombie marathon for some time now, so I'm not worried about the interpretation as much as I am the Ability to read and to fall back into the same dream more than once. I'm feeling very abnormal.

      Frustration

I think I've been trying too hard. Since I began my attempts for lucid dreams, my dreams have been few and far between. To add to this, they've been life-like for lack of a better word. My first attempt ended in a dream in which someone stopped by the house. Another included me hanging around the house. And yet another involved me waking up and brushing my teeth.

I think my dreams are rebelling. There are no tell-tale signs that I'm actually dreaming. I look the same as do the people in my dream. Nothing is out of the ordinary. It's very frustrating.
