      new dream journal

After last night's LD experience, I am starting a journal. I just know I would never remember everything on my own! Not sure yet if I'll share, since some of my dreams are a bit out there (even for dreams!) but most likely I will.

      first dream entry

this may come out sounding random. Started off walking down a city street. People kept bothering me/chasing/attacking me. I tried to fight them but all my weapons turned into wet cardboard. At this point, I became lucid. I cleared out all the people in the dream, and walked around a bit to get a feel for the place. I decided I didn't like it, so I made it night time, and changed it to a country type landscape. Trees, fields, and the like. I tried to bring a friend into my dream. It didn't work, and I was afraid to try too hard. This person died a few weeks ago, and I think my mind was stuck on that. Not sure how that all works yet. Anyway, I decided to bring in Captain Jack Sparrow. Sounds weird, but he gives me pirate lessons every once in a while. Anyway, I wanted to see if I could do it. He didn't make it. Instead I got John Travolta in clown drag. Let me just say, EW. Moving on. This was less than satisfactory, so I tried making him disappear. That didn't work. I was able to turn him into someone else, this time a friend of mine. He still had the makeup on, but I ordered him to take it off, and it disappeared. We hung out a while and flew around a bit, after that point I started to wake up. Tried spinning, but woke up a little anyway. When I fell asleep again, I did not regain lucidity, although I had more dreams. I may as well put them on here, just to get in the habit of recording them. I dreamt that I cut 2 fingers off my left hand, and that I was given prosthetic fingers. But they fell off at home, so we were going to the ER, when we saw some kid throwing bricks at windows, so we called the cops, and went back to the house, only to find that my sister had thrown a wild party while babysitting for us. Anyway, we changed clothes and checked on our valuables, and tried leaving again. Somewhere along the way my husband and I got seperated and i ended up at a friends house where I played video games with him until I woke up. None of that dream was lucid at all, or else I would have tried growing my fingers back. When I woke up, my hand was asleep, which probably caused the whole dream to begin with.

      goals

not a dream, but goals for tonight. Unfortunately I am up late, so I hope that won't keep me from getting well into REM. Anyway, I'm going to try to dream of a friend again, taking Badger's advice of imagining an entire scenario that I experienced with him. That should be easy enough, but we'll see. I really want to work on staying lucid for longer periods of time. It almost seems like a waste of time to have non-lucid dreams now! Lol. I'm sure that's not true, that all dreams serve a purpose, but geez, LDs are so much more fun. anyway, I'll post as to how tonight works out, if anything.

      nothing

I got nothing. No LD at all last night, but that was my own fault. I stayed up too late, and then couldn't get to sleep till almost 230, and I had to be up at 8. I barely had time to get into REM at all. I have a hard time getting well into REM in an 8 hour night, forget it if it's less than 6. Oh well, maybe I'll be smarter tonight. Again, I'm going to work on sustaining lucidity (if I can achieve it at all), and summoning.

      another boring evening

Stayed up too late again. I can't even remember what I did dream, only that it was not lucid. I really need to get to bed sooner tonight. I'm spending today doing RCs to get in the habit.

      summoning

Finally! I'm posting this in my dream journal for myself, but I'll copy it elsewhere. I have been trying so hard to dream of a friend of mine that passed away recently, with no luck. I almost had him in an LD the other night, but I couldn't focus enough to hold him . Last night, I finally kept him there! The level of my lucidity was really low, and I wasn't fully aware that I was dreaming, but enough to know that he was dead, and to be able to take advantage of the chance to say goodbye to him. I understand that this was all in my mind, and that it wasn't really him, but it helped me, gave me some comfort (I did not get to say goodbye to him in life), and some closure. He and his wife were at my kitchen table, as well as one of their moms, I don't know whose. We were smoking clove cigarettes and talking when I became lucid. I ran over and hugged him, and started telling him how much I would miss him, and all the things I have wanted to tell him and regret not saying sooner. He looked me in the eye and told me that he was in Heaven now, and would see me again someday. It was an awesome experience. I had been praying for three nights that I would dream of him, and that God would give me some peace through my dreams. Even though it wasn't real, it felt very true, and I am grateful for the experience.

      other dreams

last post focused on the lucid part of my dream last night. for the sake of recording, I also will document other dreams. I was visiting my sisters, and there were many signs that I was dreaming, but I didn't get any of them! Small things, really, I'll have do more RCs during the day! Anyway, my youngest sis had a real bad injury to her earlobe. she said it was from tripping over my other sister's hamster. Well, we were inside for a while, but I don't remember much from that. We went outside, and this tacky pearl coated truck drives up. Out jumps a friend of mine, who also dated my sister, wearing a matching pearly outfit. Horrible! lol. that should have tipped me off right there, he would NEVER wear anything like that! anyway, i don't remember the transition from her house to mine, but there we were. as is common in dreams, we were in my house, but it looked nothing like my house. I have dreamed of this particular house before, as my house. I'll get into that more another time. we were in a trailer home which was parked on the lawn of the actual house, which was in desperate need of repairs, and unlivable. My sister left (?) and I was alone in my kitchen when my friends appeared, at which point I became lucid. (see previous post) after the LD I woke up.

      lucid success!

Last night I was dreaming (obviously). I was in a playground, getting ready to climb the slide, and a few steps up I became lucid. Immediately I started flying, and saw that there was a ceiling above me, so I waved my hand and it became a night sky. I flew for a moment or two and then thought, "wait, I want to try some stuff". I didn't land, so much as find myself on the ground, back in the playground. At this point I looked at my hands (everyone says to RC by checking hands) and they were weird looking, kind of warped and liquid. I got so excited, I almost woke up. I tried spinning, and it worked great! I wanted to explore a bit, so I started walking around. I started to wake up again, this time I tried rubbing my hands together, and that worked too!! I was really happy about all this and decided to try one more thing. Someone a while back said to look in a mirror while in an LD. I sort of teleported into a house to find one, and I recognized that the house was very similar to my mom's old house. Not exactly the same though. Lot's of times in dreams we are in a house that we accept to be a certain person's house, even if it looks nothing like it. This time, I recognized the difference and the similarity. So anyway, I went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I was a little nervous, but excited. Well, I looked just like me! I looked a little better than I really do, (thinner, mostly) and I was wearing my favorite shirt. Right after this point I lost lucidity. Then dreamed of a really creepy house and a buffalo.

Some cool LD's in there. One suggestion i've heard to prolong lucidity is to summon a clock and set it for 20 minutes and say to yourself that you'll stay lucid for this amount of time. Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet but while try and remember as soon as i do. Hope this helps,
