      Grithic's Dream Journal

      Hello everyone....

I am brand new to the world of lucid dreaming. I bought the movie, "Waking Life" about a month ago, and I watched it utterly transfixed. I researched the topic of lucid dreaming on the web, fully expecting it to be either a ficticious idea, or something strictly... ahem... "new agey." Well, I was convinced after about an hour of reading about it. (It even enticed me to buy "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" off of amazon - which to my constant annoyance, has yet to arrive)

I started telling some of my friends about the subject, and to my complete surprise, two of them have already experienced a lucid dream once or even twice before. This, naturally, further cemented my determination to achieve this goal. So here I am, ready and willing for this bold leap into uncharted synaptic waters...

Feel free to leave a comment, but I'd prefer PMs.

      First Attempt Ever

As I can remember, this was my first attempt to practice recalling my dreams, that almost became something more... but not quite... It occured Sunday, on independence day.

I'm working in appears to be a huge factory, but it looks just like Costco. Me and my friend Tiffany are sorting through pictures on a huge table (kind of like the one that has the books on it at costco). It is covered with binders of pictures, each binder having copies of the same one. It seems for some strange reason, that we're actually on a movie set for Peter Pan, because I keep hearing, "Second star to the right, and straight on till morning." It isn't coming from anywhere in particular, it's just there every now and then.

People were walking around looking busy, like this old guy who looked remarkably like my old speed reading teacher, was telling us about some experiences from working on set. I'm back at the table again. It seems that whatever picture I pick up, they're all of me at a different stage of my life. One I remember that could have been taken last night at Kevin's Halo/Hookah party was of me and Warren Sconiers standing in the pool room.

The other one I remember was kind of odd though. I'm a kid in it, with three others, two of which are standing on the bed of a hotel room. Me and the other girl are sitting. In the foreground is another bed, which has my mom sitting, wearing a bright blue dress, holding a baby, wearing the same shade of blue. It looks like she was just starting to pick him up. I can't see her face, but I know it's her. Back to the four of us. I don't recognize any of them, but the girl sitting next to me is wearing what looks like my mom's old red dress (from the family portrait on the stairs), it fits her, it's not all big on her or anything... She looks like she's mentally handicapped, like that one little girl at church. (don't recall the name) I look really bizarre though. I'm not wearing glasses, but I have huge eyes, like a tarsier - but they look like they're painted on. Kind of like that kid at the beginning of Waking Life. Tiffany sees it and asks me why I look drunk all the time.

Then something weird happens, I'm looking an image of two widely spaced eyes, I think it's on a computer, because I can click one of them, and it's expression changes. The background isn't even a face, it's this weird red thing that could be facial muscles. I don't know, but it would be at home in a Silent Hill game. (Now that I look back at it, it was more like like the backs of my eyelids, illuminated by a bright light.) What's even weirder than that, is between the eyes is a picture of my parent's outdoor wedding.

I'm back in the factory again, both of us are walking with our arms filled with pictures, to this guy pushing an enormous shopping cart. It's the normal height, it's just really long and really wide. He looks like this one asian guy at my work. He tells us "Woah, you can't have copies made of all of those, you have to pick one." Tiffany puts one in of her, which I remember her telling me before that she hated, and I put in the one of me and Warren.

As the guy rides off in his cart, I suddenly realize, thinking to myself, "wait a second, this is my dream!"

      I wake up instantly.

      Older Dream

I never wrote this down, but it was so exciting that I didn't forget a single detail.... It happened about two or three months ago...

I was at our local mall, although... It didn't look anything like it. It was circular, with a lot of round hallways. It circled this large terrace, with this strange tower in the middle. It went upwards, and out, almost like a flattened mushroom cloud. Kind of like those observation towers, except... no windows, and much wider at the top. I was walking around the outside of the terrace, and talking to a security guard, about what went on inside the tower. I said that the inside was probably an elevator shaft, and at that instant, the whole thing started to bend at an angle right at the middle; it looked like it was breaking, as the sides were cracking under stress. It stopped at about a 60 degree angle, and started to turn along the new axis. Then the upper disk area started to spin so rapidly, that pieces broke off of it, but they still circled around the at the same speed as the spin. Eventually the whole top part broke apart, into many different sized pieced, all of them spinning in a circle around in the air. Eventually, they all got closer together, and formed a ring in the air. The sky around got really dark purple, like when there's a solar eclipse, and in the center of the spinning ring, a bright cloudly shape, kind of like a nebula, except moving and pulsating. By this time, people were gathered around watching the amazing sight in the sky.

All of a sudden there was a gigantic flash, and this great sensation of rapid movement. When my eyes opened, I was high up in the air, on a catwalk of some type, looking down on a vast city (it ALMOST looked like the machine city from the third matrix) The sky was completey black, except for this green fluid-like membrane covering the whole city, like a bright green brain. All of the people from the mall were on the catwalk with me. A black hose ran across the length of the catwalk, and it had extention hoses, which we were breathing from. I woke up pretty soon after getting to this strange alien planet.

I think it's weird how I can have such a weird dream and not realize that it's a dream... It's weird, I accept it like I'm watching a movie...

stupid english class and its stupid "willful suspension of disbelief."
