The Sentient Sleeper - OnyxDreamer's Journal

Early Monday Morning, July 14, 2008: Lucid Dream

      And so my journaling begins.

I've always wanted to have a dream journal, so I'm excited.

My first post will be more about the process I went through to arrive at this morning's dream, as the dream itself is posted in the July Task of the Month. Read more about it below:

Onyxdreamer's July Task of the Month

I am new to the forum and was incredibly excited about attempting the task of the month. I first heard about "WILD" and "FILD" and "HI" on this forum. I have had lucid dreams many times in the past, but especially as a young child and teenager. However, I find the techniques fascinating and I have never WILD'ed.

I went to sleep about 12AM and spent a lot of time tossing and turning. Why? Because I attempted to WILD and FILD and every thing else under the sun because of my excitement. Big mistake.

First I attempted WILD at a time when I was not that tired. (Please forgive me if I am not always using the right term, since I'm going by what I learned in two days' time of reading the forum.) I attempted it with the reverse blinking method I read about on the forum. I closed my eyes and concentrated on relaxing my body while concentrating on my breathing. Then when I felt sufficiently relaxed, I opened my eyes, then closed them for five seconds. For some reason, I was really sensitive to the air conditioning causing wisps of my hair to touch my face, which I kept pushing back. I kept on wanting to scratch or rub my nose. I could not concentrate at all.

At some point, I began to have slight SP, with my legs starting to twitch a little bit. I also began to have some HI's. Little colored images began to coalesce behind my eyes and a beach scene began to form. The beach was kind of hazy and not well formed at all. Of course I continued to toss and turn and rub my nose and I lost the imagery.

Then I turned on my stomach and tried to FILD. LOL. I was not getting any sleepier and grew bored with moving my fingers. I was also repeating to myself that I would dream about a beach over and over again. The night felt endless and I began to fear I would never fall asleep.

Thankfully, I eventually fell asleep and fell right into my beach dream.

What did I learn? Next time, I try to WILD, FILD or any other "ILD", I will not do it when I first go to bed. I will get the requisite sleep first and maybe try it after using the bathroom in the middle of the night.

In the end, I did achieve lucidity for all it is worth.

I was happy I was lucid, but I didn't particularly enjoy the dream as I was so focused on completing the task. Next time, I will keep the task in mind, but allow the dream to unfurl a little without my intervention and only intervene occasionally. I think that would be more enjoyable.

      Lost In the Store

Early Tuesday Morning, July 15, 2008: (2)Non-Lucid Dreams

      Dream Sequence 1- Non-Lucid:

The details of this particular dream are a bit sketchy to me, but from what I am able to make out from my sleepily scribbled notes:

I won some big academic competition and as a result, I and my team were planning to take a trip to Europe. Everyone is getting ready for the trip. We're packing clothes and styling our hair.

At some point, I realize that I don't have the money to buy the tickets at the airport.

I don't have the money, but I don't want to let anyone know that. I keep it hush, hush, but I am filled with extreme anxiety and I feel like an impostor.

Nevertheless, I continue to style my hair and to help others style their hair, but I am anxious.

At some point, my anxiety is transformed into a giant worm which manifests out of the floor. We all jump up and start screaming for a minute. Only for a minute because I am woken up by the desire to urinate.

      Phew!

      Dream Sequence 2-Non-Lucid:

My 10-year old daughter and I go shopping at a department store. I go home only to realize that I left her behind. I ransack my brain wondering where I might have left her. For some reason, I forgot that we went to the department store.

While worrying, she bursts into the house with about 5 of her friends. They are loud and boisterous. She tells me that she had been at a talent show that was held at the department store.

      The dream ends.

For some reason, my mind was in a very anxious state, which manifested itself in dreams. The anxiety surrounds money matters and some sort of fear of losing my child, or my children. Not sure what that's about.

I know that I had a lot of dreams early this morning, but I don't remember them at all. So I'm going to post what I dreamed about the night before. I managed to scribble some notes in my notebook.

Early Thursday Morning, July 17, 2008: Non-Lucid Dream

Dream Sequence 1- Crazy Madonna Dream- Non-Lucid:

Madonna, the singer, lent me a beautiful Diamond ring with small gemstones. I don't remember what color the gemstones were.

      Dream Sequence 2- Oral Orgy - Non-Lucid:

I went to visit my old church only to find that the pastor's son was planning an "oral orgy". There was to be no intercourse. Only oral sex.

While there, I met a younger guy who told me that he would be interested in participating with me in this oral orgy. His only fear was that he would find it boring. He always found oral sex on him to be boring.

I was reasonably sure that I could make it very interesting for him because I am a sensual person.

He also stressed that the women he "played" with had to be clean. While we were talking, some older ladies came over and I woke up.

      Dream Sequence 3- Scary Neighborhood - Non-Lucid:

I was walking home with my kids and we took a short cut through a bad neighborhood. I was worried about the ring that Madonna gave me being stolen. (Notice the Madonna ring theme returns to this other dream).

We passed by a bunch of warehouses where there was some sort of garage sale going on. There were people standing there explaining the kinds of sales that were going on.

      I woke up.

      Thanks Cham!

I am so lazy when it comes to writing in my journal.

For example, I remember what I dreamed about yesterday, but I don't want to be bothered with typing it.

      Thanks for the encouragement.

      My dreams were Legion

Early Monday Morning, July 21, 2008: Many, Many Non-Lucid Dreams

OMG, I had so many dreams this morning. I forgot most of them, but I remember at least four.

It was crazy, but enjoyable! What was enjoyable was knowing that I would fall asleep and maybe have a lucid dream. It gave me an expectancy that I haven't had in a while. Thanks Dreamviews!

I used to go to sleep only when I was ready to collapse. Now I enjoy getting ready for bed and hitting the pillow. Now that I'm getting a little more sleep, maybe I'll have less bags under my eyes. LOL.

      Number of WILD attempts: 2
      Result: FAILURE

I'll post my dreams later this evening. Gotta go make some money.

Dream Sequence 1- Someone Stole My Meetup Group Non-Lucid:

I don't know if you all have heard of meetup.com. It is a site where you can join or form groups that revolve around shared interests. For example, there might be a meetup group for people obsessed with nail polish. You can join any group or become an "organizer" and form your own group. You can also be an assistant organizer in a group at which point, you would help the organizer.

Well, I had a meetup group based around exploring different cultures. I eventually gave up my group to my assistant organizer because I wanted to focus on my part-time Mary Kay Business.

Last night, I dreamed a group of people took over the meetup group. I found this out because I happened to be in a building where they were having a meeting. On the side of the door, was a tag with my former meetup group's name. I looked inside the room and there were about 10 people there having a serious discussion about doing work in the community. My meetup group meetings were always light. I felt that whoever was in charge was doing a better job with the group than I ever had.

I pretended to be some random person who discovered the meeting just so I could spy on them. I was not happy.

      The dream ended.

Dream Sequence 2- Applications and more Applications - Non-Lucid:

I don't even know how to describe this or if such a thing exists.

In this dream, I was filling out applications for my kids to get some clout in foreign countries. In the dream, I understood that if I applied for my kids to have clout in Spain for example, and Spain accepted, than anytime my kids went to Spain and if they ever needed a favor from Spain, Spain would oblige.

After I filled out the application for Spain, I started to fill out another application. It all made perfect sense in the dream.

      End of dream.

Dream Sequence 3- False Awakening Non-Lucid:

I dreamed my cell phone was ringing and that I woke up and started talking on the phone. Then I really woke up and went to get my cell phone out of my bag. No calls. It was all in the dream.

Dream Sequence 4- Meetup Once Again

I actually started dreaming about my meetup group again. It was almost like a replay. This is the second time in a week, I went back to a dream. Yet, when I awake from a sex dream, close my eyes tight and try to go back into that dream, it never works. LOL.

      Where have my Lucids Gone?

Why is it that as soon as I focus on lucid dreaming, I get nothing. Zilch.

Well, I shouldn't say zilch. On the first day I attempted the July basic and advanced tasks, I got them.

      Boy was I excited.

Since then, I have had not one lucid dream.

I'm not really complaining because my dreams have been vivid as hell, and I have enjoyed them for the most part.

But oh, to be awake, while asleep.......

      Semi-Luicid at the end

Early Sunday Morning, July 27, 2008: Non-Lucid until the very end

This morning, I became semi-lucid only at the end.

I dreamed that my boss, M. invited me to meet with him and a coworker, F. for some kinky something that involved a belt. I wasn't sure what was to be done with the belt, or why he thought I would be interested, but I knew it had to do with sadomasochism. I knew I was to be spanked with the belt and I knew I was, shall we say, not averse to that idea.

We went to this house and all three of us lay on the bed and watched TV. F and I were both nervous and felt awkward. We weren't sure if anyone would broach the subject or what would happen then. Very weird.

      Then the bell rang.

I went to open the door and there were two male cops and one lady copy. Apparently, someone had reported something suspicious. They came in the apartment and started fumbling around the kitchen. Suddenly. it seemed that this strange house was really my house.

The female cop looked at my pans which were on the stove. All were clean except for one pot, which had like 10-day old leftovers.

That was embarrassing and an obvious mar on the record.

Then she went in the freezer and took old ground beef and cooked it to see if it was still eatable.

Then she went into my fridge and found old cheese. (I think I do have old swiss cheese in there). Another mar.

She then asked me what I was doing there. I told her I was just hanging out with some friends. Then she asked me if I lived there and if my kids lived there and I responded that I did.

I knew the dream was turning into something bad.

At that point, I became semi-lucid and decided I wanted out of that dream.

And so, I woke myself up!

I can't count this as lucid because the only way I interacted with the dream landscape was to teleport myself out of it. LOL.

Who thinks this should count as lucid?

      Honk, Honk, Shut up

      Early Monday Morning, July 28, 2008: Non-Lucid

Yesterday, I decided to go to bed early. I got all happy in my PJ's and practically whistled as I went to bed. It was about 8:30 and I was ready to dream.

So I decided to try WILD'ing. Yeah, I know, you have to be tired and you should get some sleep, yada, yada, yada, but I figured, what do I have to lose.

What did I have to lose? My sanity.

Not because of the techniques but because some freaking car was having problems and the horn kept on blaring on and off for about 4 hours while some idiots tried to fix it.

The thing is, I got really close to a WILD at some point. One of my challenges is to shape shift into a mouse, so I started visualizing a mouse hole. I was developing some really nice HI and then the stupid horn started blaring again.

After that, it took me about 3 hours to fall asleep.

I had a few dreams and I don't remember any of them except this one:

I was in a bedroom attempting to fold a sheet. Since I'm not very domestic, I had a hard time. There were about three people in the room smiling sympathetically. One of them was a coworker, B. (Don't know why I keep dreaming about male coworkers.)

I finally gave up trying to fold the sheet and announced I had to get ready for work soon so I would take a shower. I went out into the hallway and entered the shower room. The shower room was the type you find in a dorm or gym, except it was unisex.

To my dismay, all the showers were full. There were three people ahead of me.

Then I was next in line. I noticed what appeared to be a family in front of one of the showers. The were talking to whoever was behind the shower curtain. I asked them if they could please hurry up. Finally, a woman came out of the shower.

She was holding a cherubic little boy with blond curls. He looked to be about 9 months old. He was so cute, I had no choice but to smile.

I went into the shower and then I woke up.

How Mothra Broke My Dry Spell

Early Wednesday Morning, July 30, 2008: Lucid Dream

      Feel it
      Breathe it
      Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
      Go try
      Go fly
      So high
And You'll be walking on air.
      Kerli, Singer

Yes, my fellow dreamers. I am walking on air.

In fact, anytime I post a picture of that bald robot woman, it means that I had a dream in which, I was sentient, I was aware that I was dreaming. And that makes me feel like I'm walking on air.

Mothra broke my dry spell. It has been 16 freaking days!

      So back to the dream.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the old Japanese monster movies. One of them is Mothra. Mothra in one movie is a benevolent Moth monster/guardian goddess and in another movie, her twin caterpillar brood help to defend Japan. Mothra, at one point battles Godzilla to save Japan and in another movie her baby caterpillars do. This movie also has some adorable telepathic fairy twins who speak for Mothra. They talk and sing in harmony.

This dream started as a nightmare. I was in some strange city, just minding my business. I was actually in a building with some children just hanging around the office. We went into the lobby and there was some huge structure that looked like a giant rock.

To our dismay, the rock started to move and we realized that it was alive and something was about to hatch. You know when you know something bad is going to happen and you don't wait around to find out what?

The kids and I ran to the elevator and went to the roof. Right as the elevator doors were closing, we saw a monster caterpillar emerge and people started screaming. This caterpillar was not the benevolent, goddess mothra.

When we get to the roof, we see caterpillar monsters hatching all around the city. The city also morphs into what appears to be Japan or some Asian city.

And then, I know. I'm dreaming. I say to myself that I am lucid. I actually have some control over this dream.

So I decide to call Mothra, the moth goddess to my rescue. I look towards the sky and call out to her in song.

Wish I could put my call into this post. I'll work on recording it at another time.

I call Mothra and she arrives in all her moth splendor. She flies over the city and the strength of the wind created by her wings topples trees everywhere. She lands on the roof and the kids and I climb on top of her. She takes to the skies and we revel in the wind blowing in our faces.

I am exultant. I am in control.

      The dream ends.

      Hi Onyx

Wow! Love love love the Mothra dream.

I tend to choose NOT to control my lucid dreams. I like to go along with it and see what happens next.

Maybe I’ll incorporate control – it sounds Fun!

      Hi Cham,

      It was amazing.

In my opinion, the best type of lucidity is when you know you're dreaming, and you have some control over the dream, but you're not controlling every aspect of the dream.

For example, I would not have wanted to make Motha's wings flap so that she could fly.

I just communicated with her by calling out to her that I wanted her to come and she chose to land on the roof and bend so that we could climb onto her back.

She basically knew what I wanted her to do.

It's kind of like the theory of God and free will.

Okay, I'm going to take a nap. Should I try a WILD? Hmm. If anything good happens, I'll report back.
