OK, I'm posting this as, basically, a copy of my dream journal. However, this one is for me, and only me, to post.

Post subject: Dreamscaper's first Dream Journal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, all, just posting my dream journal.

This past morning (had to be, 'cause I didn't get to sleep until after 0100), I had something close to a lucid dream. Unfortunately, I forgot it, because I didn't yet have a dream journal at my side (I'm just beginning). However, I was reading up on dream cues (sp?), when I was reminded by the cue of "inability to scream".

The dream is fairly straightforeward: I'm lying in bed, asleep. Then, I hear a knock on my door. It was my mom's knock, just 'cause I recognized it (and she's taller than my dad, and the sound was coming from higher). Normally (because this happens all the time, now that it's summer and I'm sleeping in), she would just knock as a warning, as the sudden opening of the door practically gives me a heart attack! However, she just kept knocking.
So, I attempted to tell her to come in (or maybe ask her what she wanted; same idea), but found that I couldn't speak. By default ('cause you know how you sometimes speak, but forget to move something, or something), I tried again, but still, no sound came. So I tried speaking louder, to no avail. Finally, I started trying to scream (but still couldn't). Mind you that, while all of this was going on, the knocking was still at the door.
I think that I recall a vague moment of that hint that it's a dream (though I can't be sure if I did or not, memory failing), but either way, I woke up.

So, this may or may not have been my first lucid dream. I might have been awakened by realizing that it's a dream, or maybe just by its being kind of scary. I guess that we'll have to just wait until my first confirmed lucid dream.

Well, while my recall hasn't been up to par lately, I'm apparantly compensating with multiple dreams. I had 2 that I could recall last night.

Warning: Dreams can be weird.
---
Dream one:
OK, in this one, there were 3 characters: Eb from Green Acres, Opie from The Andy Griffith Show, and some female character whom I don't recall well enough, though I could have told you then the char name and show, heh. Anyway, I apparantly watch way too much TVLand.
Oh, by the way, I kept switching perspectives among Eb, Opie, and 3rd person spectator.
So, it somehow got into everyone's minds that it would be amusing to make everyone in <local small town> think that there were extraterrestrials abducting everyone and replacing them with "pod people" duplicates. We somehow ended up driving up to a small bit of suburb that was structured like a trailor park (though all of the houses were, indeed, traditional houses). After various sneakings around and causing disturbances, we eventually decided to call it quits, and I woke up for no apparant reason while we headed back to the car.
Well, maybe I woke up because I had gone to sleep around 2300-2330 the previous night, and it was then (I was doing a RC in case of false awakening, 'cause I still felt half-asleep) 0659.
Of course, I was tired, so I fell right back to sleep...
---
Dream two:
In the earliest part that I can remember, I was at my old high school, with my principle (sp?) making an announcement...something to the effect that everyone had acquired some kind of (plant) seed. For some reason (probably the fact that I was in a dream), I wasn't totally suspicious of the scenario. Lengthy explanations of brief thought processes aside, I ended up just being angry and going to try to get a seed of my own.
However, I ended up getting lost (and, when eventually I did awaken, I realized that the high school in my dream had a completely different layout from that in RL), and wandering outside to the (newly (as-of-dream) restructured) parking lot. Now, it was winter, snowing, and really dark with thick cloud cover. I ended up seeing my mom's car, though I ignored it and kept going, intending to return to it when I had completed my mission; for some reason, I was compelled to go to this small building (a little bigger than your typical summertime ice cream stand) across the way.
When I got there (and the area in there was so comfortable that the employees were not dressed against the cold, despite the fact that the doorway was simply a rectangular hole in the wall, leading (after a left turn) into a corridor that had various stands where food could be obtained), I found myself asking those at what amounted to an orange soda stand about the seeds. While I couldn't get any info on the seeds, I observed some dark things floating in the orange soda units. I picked up a filled paper cup out of a stack of three (they were in each other, as one might stack empty paper cups). When I picked up the top (full) one, I could see that the one below it was also full of orange soda. Upon removal of the upper cup, the black floating thingy bobbed up, as though it was being previously held down by the cup above it.
Anyhoo, I squeezed the paper cup, hoping to force up what I could now percieve to be some sort of vague figurine (though why I didn't just reach in and grab it, I can't recall). Unfortunately, when I squeezed the sides in, I found that the fluid level increased to the brim before I could even get a hold of the figurine, and I didn't want to spill. However, pertaining to the figurine, I had enough info to tell whom the figures represented, though I can't remember now that I'm awake.
Once I was done with that cup, I found myself putting it back into the other (full) cup. As I was dreaming, it didn't strike me as at all odd that the top cup went in all the way, without a drop of orange soda spilling over from the bottom one.
By the way, before I forget to mention it, this building did not exist, in any way, shape, or form, in my RL old high school.
I was about to continue on past this stand (which was the first one as I entered the building) (I hadn't yet decided whether to go to another stand, or to head back to the main building), when my alarm went off, waking me up.
---
Well, those are my dreams. Sometimes, I just have to be glad that concious reality isn't this way. Of course, other times, I just have to wish that it was.

Lucid dreams!

OK, well, I had this dream last night (so during the morning hours of yesterday; I'm posting at 0130 now), but I've been busy, and haven't been able to jot it down until now, so the details will be vague at best.

First of all, I shall present a description of a rather odd occurence during the dream, and, while I know that it was incorporated into the dream that I am about to describe, I have no idea when, where, or how.
So, anyway, there was this apple. From the outside, before biting into it, it looked like an ordinary apple. While biting into it, the direct force on the teeth was about the consistency of apple (i.e., somewhat hard and crunchy). Actually, it sounded like an apple while biting into it, too. However, it tasted much better than an apple (though it still tasted like apple, at least to an extent). However, if one were to look at the bite, the innards would look like a reddish version of some kind of cake or bread. However, the consistency in my mouth was some kind of mix between stale bread and fresh cake (though it was still delicious). Unfortunately, it made me thirsty.

Anyhoo, from what I can remember from my dream, my family was as it is, except that I had an extra sister, in the form of Lisa Simpson. Oh, yeah, and the queen of England was whoever whe was before instead of whoever she is now, if she is now, or something. I don't follow European politics, and I really had no idea in my dream, either, except that it was important that I drive my parents and new sibling to the airport. Oh, right, I apparantly had my license in the dream, too.

The earliest that I recall, we were at the airport. I was in the driver's seat, with my "sister" in the passenger's seat, my dad in the back right, and my mom in the back left. The parking lot was on some rolling hills, though I didn't look to my left, so I couldn't tell you how large it was in total. I was looking to my right, at the two very large, very tall buildings. They were light baige (sp?). I never did end up finding out the purpose of the closer one. I think that it was the one to the south, though I have no guarantee of compass direction.

So, something happened that caused us to all exit the car, and my parents went away for a bit (in all likelihood related to why we stopped), and it somehow got into my head (or at least my "dream-self"'s head) that it would be OK for Lisa to drive the car a little bit. It was legal, for we were on private property. Well, it somehow got into herhead to just go and drive off (toward the second ("northern") building (were were parked in front of the first)), and at about that time I found my parents behind me again.

We pursued her into the second building, and began climbing the stairs. In the dream, I noticed that each floor was quite identical to the one before it. Unfortunately, I don't remember how they were laid out. However, we stopped climbing the stairs when I (in the lead) noticed that the floor that we entered (through a door, by the way, just like with the previous ones) was different. I'll try to describe it as best I can.
The area containing the door, and, behind it (as leaving it, up), the door to the next flight of stairs, was about twice as wide as the doorways themselves demanded, yielding something of a hallway's width on the right (right, that is, as one exits the door from the lower floor). However, across from this first door was a wall, perhaps 20 to 30 feet away. On the wall on the left were several doors, leading to rooms (I intuited this information from the fact that they had symbols on them to indicate which room (though I didn't read them; if I had, I probably would have noticed that they didn't make sense), and they had peepholes, I think, too). On the far wall were 2 or 3 more such doors. On the wall on the right, there may or may not have been doors, for as far back as to be flush with the door-from-the-lower-level-stairs again. However, there was then a recess back from the wall (hallway's width), though I'll get back to that later.
Continuing past that, the hallway continued for a good 60 to 80 feet, with plentiful doors on either side ("hotel doors," as before). After that, it made a 3-way "T" intersection with another hallway, and I could see some more doors on the far side. If I could see around corners, I bet that there would have been doors on the near sides, too.

Oh, one more thing, the carpet was somewhat decorative. It wasn't fancy or anything, but it certainly wasn't plain. It was about as decorative as what you might expect in a hotel. OK, so, back to that recess. It went back to a door about 10 to 15 feet away from where the little corridor met the hallway. However, the door was open. The people inside were clearly celebrating, or otherwise having a good time.

I approached the entrance. Oh, by the way, while I didn't notice this in-dream, my parents and I were unusually non-tired for having just rushed (not run, but not just walked, either) up 20 to 30 or more flights of stairs. Anyway, among the folks in the room were the queen of England and her guards. There were some other people, though I don't think that I recognized them at the time, and I know that I don't remember them clearly enough now to recognize them, even if I did know them.

And that's about where I stop remembering the dream. I think that I woke up pretty shortly afterward, anyway.

Until next time, Cheerios ™, or something

Post subject: First Lucid Dream

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morning.

OK, so, in my dream, which I only about half remember, my mom and I are in her car, with her in the driver's seat and me in the passenger's, and we're driving along the road. It's kind of dark, but it's light enough to see. I think that it must have been early evening, or early morning. Either way, the way that we were going, the planet's sun wasn't in our faces or anything at the time.
The road was somewhat backwater, with plenty of trees and bushes right next to the road much of the time. There were also occasional groupings of less than a dozen houses alongside the road.
The road also had some oddities. For example, as we drove around one curve (left), I noticed that the double yellow line curved toward the left similarly, but such that it smacked into the edge of the road, along with some trees and bushes, on the concave side of the curve. This resulted in the road's turning into a single, not-so-narrow (but not two lanes wide, either) lane, with a solid yellow line on the left and a solid white line on the right.
I commented on the unusually abrupt (and overall unusual) ending of the other lane, but my mom pointed out that it was the opposite lane (or that it went the opposite way - something to that effect), and then I finished the idea, commenting that they would be going the opposite direction, and so that would have actually been the start of their lane.
Then, as we were following the single-laned road, the edge of the pavement on the left suddenly jutted out to the left (no, it didn't actually move - the road just changed), such that there was now room for another lane. At that point on the road, the "extra" pavement also had a solid white line on its outer side, and the solid yellow line on our left became a double yellow line in the middle of the road (of course, also on our left).

It must have been evening, instead of morning, because I noticed that it was gradually becoming darker. We had just made a turn onto another road, at this point. Then, for reasons unknown to me, I made a reality check. I looked at the car's clock (digital, of course). As I recall, the time was 3-something. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't illegible, as I expected - I just don't remember what minute it was. Since it was legible, I didn't think that I was in a dream, but I looked away and checked again, in case it became illegible (its changing was not something that I was considering at the time). It then read 5-something else. If I recall correctly, there was a 3 in one of the last digits. However, I didn't clearly remember the first readout from the clock at the time; but then again, that, in most situations, would be enough to get me to try something. And I did.
I looked away and back at the clock one more time. This time, although I now (awake) don't remember what it said (though I think that the hour was 6 or 7), I then (dreaming) read the time (it was always legible, for some reason)and remembered that the one just before it was indeed different.
I then made a comment about it, something like "I'm dreaming" or "am I dreaming" or "the time keeps changing". My mom just said something like "what?" - she was preoccupied with her driving. I wasn't about to waste time talking to her about it; if she was a DC, she wouldn't let me believe it (base on what I've read here, though I wasn't thinking about it at the time), while if we were all real, she would probably think that there's something wrong with me, and I'd have to spend a bunch of tame trying to explain lucid dreaming to her (this would be harder than it sounds; she's not good at understanding stuff, especially when it's unusual like this).

Anyway, I got right to the point and tried to stick my right index finger through the palm of my left hand - and failed. However, I knew that I was dreaming. The whole clock thing gave it away. I primarily focused on not getting excited, because I knew that I would lose lucidity if I got too excited.
My memory kind of gets hazy from there. I don't think that I got much farther, anyway, though.

Well, the point is that I was lucid, even if I didn't have control. Go lucidity! (Hey, I could make that a superhero catch phrase!)

Post Scriptum
I think that it's good that it was a dream. For one thing, I don't have to find out what idiot civil-engineered that second unusual road feature that I mentioned - that abrupt beginning of an opposite lane, from our perspective, would have been an abrupt ending, from the perspective of anyone coming our way. Also, it means that our car clock's not on the fritz and that I'm not noticeably insane yet.
