      Youssarian's Nighttime Recordings

In order to get myself to try and put more of an effort into lucid dreaming and recall in general, this is going to be my online dream journal. I must warn you that this teenager's mind is complex and indeed quite strange, so expect to scratch your head and laugh at some stuff and be downright disgusted at others.

My main goal in lucid dreaming is to meet my Dream Guide. I've only had one interaction with the DG that I can confirm through a dream character in the form of one of my friends. My speculation is that my DG is a blonde lady by the name of Michelle. This may be wrong, I don't know yet.

I started learning how to lucid dream due to an old fear of sleeping. Specifically, it is the sense of nothingness, the void of not being aware of anything. With a little help from this, though the fear's been overcome.

Here it is, the dream journal of me. Expect the first couple entries to come in sometime within the next few days.

      Indicates a lucid dream.
      Regular text indicated regular dreams.
      Indicates fragments.

Hi there! I find just getting myself here and typing my dreams up helps a lot. I have sucky recall at the moment, but being able to see everything I do remember in one spot is very nice.

I hope you find that it helps you too! Good luck finding your DG.

      A Note About the Format
At the top of every post is the day. This is followed by the night's dreams. Each dream is titled, and if it's lucid the number is given. Following that is the dream's number, those recalled from my start date of November 11, 2007. Finally is a rating, based upon the scale used in the U.S. "G" means it's a decent dream with nothing bad. "PG" means it's mostly decent with the occasional naughty scene. "PG-13" is something that the faint of heart may want to avoid or young people may not want to witness. "TV-MA" should be avoided unless you're mature, since there are lots of inappropriate content. If there are any "R" dreams, prepare yourself for some nasty crap.

Separating dreams is a series of 20 equal signs.

      Unpossessed
      Lucid dream #14
      Dream #261
      Rating: G

I find myself in the darkness of my closed eyes, spinning wildly. Used to the spinning sensation, I don't feel concerned. One of my goals is trying to become Borg, and despite my effort to become assimilated, I can't make the transformation.

Instead, I get out of my bed. There is a mirror in my living room, which many people seem to dread. Walking by, I make only a brief notice of the slightly elongated head in the reflection. Although trying to open the door, my left hand forms a fist and instead goes through the door. I fade to "eyelid black" (my term for the darkness of closed eyes) but quickly recover. With it being nighttime, I try to conjure up light but it does not work. Opening the door with my right hand, I walk down my stairs and outside.

It has recently rained, because the environment is wet. Looking for something to do, I decide to accomplish one of my goals and attempt a possession. There is someone riding a bike down the street, a black-haired boy of about eighteen riding in circles. I approach him and repeatedly say things that will convince him to let me close. I reach my hand out to touch his shoulder, and I have a black glove on. The attempts fail and the dream ends.

      Lady of the Lake
      Dream #262
      Rating: G

With it being the end of the school year, I am concerned about staying in touch with some of my friends. One of them is a girl named Christine. I thought about her falling asleep and the thought was incubated.

In front of her locker on the fifth floor, where we usually exchange a hug before the school day begins, is a table similar to the ones in my local library. She is sitting there, writing contact information. It takes a long time, and even after the bell rings, she continues.

Now I am in my physics class, five classes later. I am looking over a lake with a dock. I see her briefly on a boat but she disappears.

      Keyboard Pageant
      Lucid dream #15
      Dream #263
      Rating: PG-13

In my advanced algebra class, a friend of mine has brought an electric keyboard instrument, interesting because I own one of those. It is passed to me. The keyboard looks nearly identical to the keyboard symbol Windows XP uses. The darned thing, no matter what, will not stop playing sounds. Upon noticing the weird design, I go lucid.

Looking out the doorway, I see another class and want to throw it into the room - it's a dream, I can do anything. But something prevents me from throwing, so I decide to instead kick it. My foot hits it lightly, but the keyboard flies in the air. It lands on the head of an unrecognizable boy, then bounces to Mike, a nearby boy. Then it flies to the other side of the room and impacts the head of Lyle. These two are class clowns, funny but annoying. It bounces off the head and lands behind the teacher's desk, in front of Lyle's seat.

Then it becomes eyelid black. I check my dreaming status by plugging my nose and to my happiness, I can still breathe! Opening my eyes, it is a transition to a new scene. Now I have in my hands a magazine about a beauty pageant, which forms into the actual scene. Four girls are left in the final competition. Supposedly they are all from the Top 10 of my school's grades, but I only recognize two of them: Carrie, wearing a gold dress with a slit that goes to her waist, and Thi, with the same style but in red.

The four formulate a plan to sit down and display their panties. First up is the unknown girl on the far right. She sits down in such a position that her knees are bent and her legs upwards. She pulls down the gray pants she wears. Because of this posture, her white panties are very visible. My perverted a** zooms in on the visual and tries to get a feel. A shift of characters, and now I'm the one with the pants down (actually, my sweatpants that I wear to bed when it's cold), trying to lift them up.

The dream begins to fade, and once again it's eyelid black. A nose plug test tells me that I'm still asleep. I attempt my Dream Stability Jutsu (inspired by Naruto) but don't do any hand signs. Nevertheless, a scene re-emerges, but now everything is in a cartoon form. Carrie is on stage, but she does not drop her trousers. Thi, off stage, is passed. Finally, one of the "girls" is wearing nothing but her reddish-pink underwear, but she has the groin bulge of a man. An announcer calls out, "Put some clothes on!" The undies fall to her ankles and there now can be seen an anatomically incorrect rendition of male genitalia.

      What's Under Here
      Dream #264
      Rating: PG-13

There's a senior in my high school advanced algebra class who yesterday wore a short skirt, so short that there was barely enough of a shadowing effect to obscure her midsection when she sat. This dream is obviously inspired by that.

In the local Dollar General, this girl is standing. Maybe I'm crouching or she's abnormally tall, but for some reason I'm just a little above her knees in height. A part of her skirt is wrinkled and short. I state I'm going to "pull it down for her", but that is not my first goal. I actually lift the part up and see she chose blue. Fearing retribution, I lower the part of her skirt.

No reaction comes out of her, just a quick glance before looking away. Seeing the opportunity, I lift more of the skirt and get a good look at the undergarment, before the dream comes to an end.

Note: this is an above average night. I track and compare my progress by weeks and this record of two lucid dreams in a night has made a three-way tie of most in a week. This is tied with the week of February 10, 2008 and March 23, 2008. It's also rare for me to recall more than two dreams per night, so this is a good improvement.

      Special Friend
      Dream #265
      Rating: G

At my school, I am chatting with some friends. We're standing in a group, talking over each other. One person in particular has caught my eye. It's a boy of sixteen with glasses, a small moustache and jet black hair. He wears an uncharacteric red shirt. The face is recognizable, if slightly different from reality.

Getting his attention to confirm my theory, I find it is indeed my friend Dylan. Dylan is a natural lucid dreamer who dropped out of school in February to pursue a more specific life career of computer technology. Some months ago, he stopped replying to my e-mails.

Happy to see him, I open my arms for a hug, which he accepts. His wrap around me is strong and we embrace for about ten seconds. When we finally disconnect, the two of us begin walking down the hallway.

I say, "Usually when you show up, I start acting geeky. But now I'm just passive." It's true, Dylan always did bring out the inner geek in me. "Why haven't you replied to my e-mails?"

To which he responds, "The replies were sent yesterday."

I call this dream "Special Friend" because me and Dylan were close, though he didn't want to use the term "best friend" for whatever reason. Instead he chose the carefully worded phrase "special friends". In case it seems like I'm gay for him, which some people may think due to the description, here's the disclaimer: I'm not.

(Perhaps I should consider omitting certain parts of dreams from the public journal, make them less distasteful.)

      Fire
      Dream #305
      Rating: G

I'm stading in a field by a highway. Part of the field is on fire! Not sure what to do, I pull out my cell phone and try calling 911. But the stupid thing doesn't work!

My parents appear from out of nowhere. They catch up to me and we walk to a nearby restaurant. Inside, my father goes off to the left while I follow my mother going straight.

      Theatre
      Dream #306
      Rating: G

A theater where several girl friends from school are present. I walk up to one, Alyssa (who in the dream wears a denim skirt), and sit next to her. She promptly move one seat to the left.

Looking at the screen, the director is talking about the movie. It's entitled Interstella WAWM, a sequel or maybe just a spoof of Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.

I turn around and the new scene is in the blue hallway of my high school. Two friends of mine, Ashley and Keri, are laying on a large block. I comment that I find Ashley pretty. Then we all look through a classroom window and look at a clock. It's schooltime, but we decide to nap anyways.

I decided to use self-hypnosis to up my dream recall. Let's see if it works. It should - I used HILD and since then I've had at least one LD per week.

Ninja Warrior: Stages Three and Final
      Dream #307
      Rating: G

(This may or may not be a spoiler. There's mentioned an as-of-yet unshown obstacle.)

At the third stage of the Sasuke tournament ("Ninja Warrior" in the US/UK), Levi Meeuwenberg is on the Cliff Hanger, but possibly cheats by shaking the contraption closer to the next obstacle. This third stage is divided into segments and indoors.

My turn. I miraculously make it to the Spider Flip. I crawl along the horizontal part and manage to keep my footing on the vertical ledge. Next I try to avoid having to jump to the other part, which is symmetrical but facing the opposite direction, by extending my left leg and twisting the foot much more than is actually possible. I get my foot onto the ledge (which is supposedly 2 meters, or about 6 feet, away!) but end up being disqualified for putting my hand on an out-of-bounds area.

Katsumi Yamada, for the first time in some nine years, has made it to the Final Stage! The announcer lights up the tower, and the first half operates as such:

In 17 seconds, he has to lift a large black cube and hold it while an open elevator accelerates upwards. Some person dangled off the edge of the block before managing the wires. Then Yamada has at least 69 seconds to climb a rope while the elevator tried to catch up to him. He starts out strong but eventually slows and falls.

I see his balding father and shy son (who, as rumor states, he is training for Sasuke).

      My Friend the Empath
      Dream #308
      Rating: PG

My friends Brittany and Dana (who are currently a long-term couple) are walking with me in the streets in night clothes. Dana has on pajamas and Brittany wears a light blue dress with two large pieces of black cloth for more cover. I look down and realize something: both of their rear ends are showing.

But I must be wary of what I think! Brittany is an empath (like Deanna Troi from Star Trek: The Next Generation) and can detect my thoughts. So, we keep walking. I start trailing behind them and quickly lose track of them. So I try to look for them on the various channels of DirectTV (WHAT??!!). Somehow I alter a beforehand unknown viewing mode and see five channels at once. I find them in the middle one and tune to it.

Back with them, they are talking to my grandma from her car. We then resume walking until we reach Dana's house. His door is already opened and guarded by a not-so-nice kitten. Now into his bedroom, which in this case is a copy of my small 9x12 cubby of a room where a shadow creature with a knife starts attacking us!

The others disperse. A stranger is killed. Chaos. I try to flush the creature out by illuminating the room as much as I can and searching for him. But I still don't know where it is. I panic.
