Yesterday I decided to start working on lucid dreaming, something I've done several times in my life but never knew how to trigger one on purpose. After some research I managed to have the following dream last night...
...First I had several dreams throughout the night, but none lucid. I wrote down Three of them. I woke up at 6 am because I had to use the restroom, I was kind of bummed because I wanted to lucid dream but I hadn't yet. So I tried to focus on that idea before attempting to get back to sleep for another hour. I knew I wouldn't have much time though because I always wake up around 7am.
I fall back asleep and I start to dream. I was in this large building with white and tan walls, but parts of the outdoors were inside? I was trying to get down a thin dirt path along the side of a road, which used to be stairs. As I walked with Rayne (My Daughter who is 20 months), cars were flying by without any care for our safety. I was somewhat in and out of lucidity at this point. Young men and women started to hike their way up the sides of road, I remember a guy saying "Woah"... they all seemed to be in the same situation as me. A woman approaches me, as if she knows I'm dreaming, and asks me a question. Something about my goals, and how I was able to accomplish them?
Suddenly I realize Rayne wasn't by my side anymore, she had wandered into the street. Afraid she'd get hit by one of those cars I rush after her and swoop her up. This causes me to fall out of lucidness and I continue down the road oblivious of the others. Then I see what I think is a car, but I realize it's alive. Some sort of shape-shifting creature. Next thing I know I'm walking down a large hallway to a room that has the outdoors painted on the walls. Half the floor is deep water. The creature lives here and is swimming in it's own private lake. He's black and white, and very furry with dark black eyes and nose. I can feel the water splashing on my face. For a second I think that's interesting that I can feel that sensation even though I'm dreaming, as I struggle to get back into a lucid state.
I want to play with him, but he is actually very frightening. Suddenly he shape-shifts beside me into a man, and not just any man... but a very creepy serious Charlie from the show LOST. (We did watch a few episodes before bed, lol) I ask why he changes his form, and he explains that it's so he can walk amongst other people. I think people were trying to capture him, but that's all a little hazy to me. Then it gets a little disoriented, his face becomes two faces. One is Charlie's older brother Liam with a big grin, and the other is a frightened looking John Locke. They are one body but to heads under a dark hood. Quickly he changes again, and the two faces merge into one. No hood now, just one face and his head is bald. His eyes get dark and somewhat resembles the way Voldemort looks on Harry Potter.
I start to get serious, and a little nervous. I say, "This isn't real, it's a dream." This instance of feeling a little scared made me remember something I read from a Lucid Dreaming website I was checking out yesterday. It was about using your lucid dreams to control nightmares. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, "Wait, I AM dreaming!" I had managed to become completely alert now! I imagined a crib in the room, and Rayne safely inside. Although the fact that the creature was in there still urked me a bit, and I guess I had troubles getting passed that fact because later she catches up to me. I start to walk out of the room and there is a hanging plant by me, I try to touch it but can't feel anything. I think this is odd since I was able to feel the water on my face. (I still need practice obviously). I leave the room and walk back down the hallway thinking, "Ok, I'm dreaming, stay calm. What should I do? Oh Yeah! Alyssa! I should try to find her!" Yesterday, in the waking world, my close friend Alyssa and I were talking about finding one another in our dreams if we could get into a lucid state.
Rayne comes running after me with a big smile on her face and arms reached out. She was wearing a pretty red and white dress. I pick her up and call out for my friend, "Alyssa!" I know I need to find someone and ask about dream planes and finding people who are also dreaming so I walk into a different room down the same hallway. There is a teenage boy sitting there with a familiar face (maybe from a movie or show I've seen). I ask him if there are other people around, and he said there was a group of teens around somewhere. I instantly remembered the people at the beginning of my dream. "I need to find Alyssa," I say. Before I get to asking him about dream planes I question, "Are you dreaming?" He looks at me with the same strait forward unemotional expression and signs the word Milk (I taught sign language to my daughter Rayne, and she still frequently uses some of the signs even though she can talk now). I look around and realize I can't see Rayne around me and I start to feel myself waking up. I try to resist while saying, "no, no!" I attempt to stay calm and drift back in but the pull is too heavy.... and I wake up at 7am.
