      Mystic's Dream Journal

I used to be ok at recording my dreams, but somewhere along the way I just stopped getting in the habit. As of September 11, 2008 I started keeping a health log, and decided to include my dreams. By writing them down on paper I know this will help me to remember my dreams more easily as well as help me establish personal dream signs that influence me. I want to explore the subconscious world of sleep much more vividly, everything from lucid dreaming to Astral Projection and OBE.

Thankfully, I've always been a vivid dreamer and it has never been too difficult to remember at least one dream every night. In the last week the most dreams I've been able to remember from one night was six. I'm hoping this will be a good sign that the transition into a better understanding about lucid sleep will come more naturally.

Personal Dream Signs: (More to come)
*Water - For years I had detailed dreams of huge tidal waves of water, and for a while learned to use that as a trigger into a Lucid State. I want to recapture that again, because water in many forms still plays a vital role in my dreams.

      Lucid Dream Success

      September 16, 2008

Yesterday I decided to start working on lucid dreaming, something I've done several times in my life but never knew how to trigger one on purpose. After some research I managed to have the following dream last night...

...First I had several dreams throughout the night, but none lucid. I wrote down Three of them. I woke up at 6 am because I had to use the restroom, I was kind of bummed because I wanted to lucid dream but I hadn't yet. So I tried to focus on that idea before attempting to get back to sleep for another hour. I knew I wouldn't have much time though because I always wake up around 7am.
I fall back asleep and I start to dream. I was in this large building with white and tan walls, but parts of the outdoors were inside? I was trying to get down a thin dirt path along the side of a road, which used to be stairs. As I walked with Rayne (My Daughter who is 20 months), cars were flying by without any care for our safety. I was somewhat in and out of lucidity at this point. Young men and women started to hike their way up the sides of road, I remember a guy saying "Woah"... they all seemed to be in the same situation as me. A woman approaches me, as if she knows I'm dreaming, and asks me a question. Something about my goals, and how I was able to accomplish them?
Suddenly I realize Rayne wasn't by my side anymore, she had wandered into the street. Afraid she'd get hit by one of those cars I rush after her and swoop her up. This causes me to fall out of lucidness and I continue down the road oblivious of the others. Then I see what I think is a car, but I realize it's alive. Some sort of shape-shifting creature. Next thing I know I'm walking down a large hallway to a room that has the outdoors painted on the walls. Half the floor is deep water. The creature lives here and is swimming in it's own private lake. He's black and white, and very furry with dark black eyes and nose. I can feel the water splashing on my face. For a second I think that's interesting that I can feel that sensation even though I'm dreaming, as I struggle to get back into a lucid state.
I want to play with him, but he is actually very frightening. Suddenly he shape-shifts beside me into a man, and not just any man... but a very creepy serious Charlie from the show LOST. (We did watch a few episodes before bed, lol) I ask why he changes his form, and he explains that it's so he can walk amongst other people. I think people were trying to capture him, but that's all a little hazy to me. Then it gets a little disoriented, his face becomes two faces. One is Charlie's older brother Liam with a big grin, and the other is a frightened looking John Locke. They are one body but to heads under a dark hood. Quickly he changes again, and the two faces merge into one. No hood now, just one face and his head is bald. His eyes get dark and somewhat resembles the way Voldemort looks on Harry Potter.
I start to get serious, and a little nervous. I say, "This isn't real, it's a dream." This instance of feeling a little scared made me remember something I read from a Lucid Dreaming website I was checking out yesterday. It was about using your lucid dreams to control nightmares. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, "Wait, I AM dreaming!" I had managed to become completely alert now! I imagined a crib in the room, and Rayne safely inside. Although the fact that the creature was in there still urked me a bit, and I guess I had troubles getting passed that fact because later she catches up to me. I start to walk out of the room and there is a hanging plant by me, I try to touch it but can't feel anything. I think this is odd since I was able to feel the water on my face. (I still need practice obviously). I leave the room and walk back down the hallway thinking, "Ok, I'm dreaming, stay calm. What should I do? Oh Yeah! Alyssa! I should try to find her!" Yesterday, in the waking world, my close friend Alyssa and I were talking about finding one another in our dreams if we could get into a lucid state.
Rayne comes running after me with a big smile on her face and arms reached out. She was wearing a pretty red and white dress. I pick her up and call out for my friend, "Alyssa!" I know I need to find someone and ask about dream planes and finding people who are also dreaming so I walk into a different room down the same hallway. There is a teenage boy sitting there with a familiar face (maybe from a movie or show I've seen). I ask him if there are other people around, and he said there was a group of teens around somewhere. I instantly remembered the people at the beginning of my dream. "I need to find Alyssa," I say. Before I get to asking him about dream planes I question, "Are you dreaming?" He looks at me with the same strait forward unemotional expression and signs the word Milk (I taught sign language to my daughter Rayne, and she still frequently uses some of the signs even though she can talk now). I look around and realize I can't see Rayne around me and I start to feel myself waking up. I try to resist while saying, "no, no!" I attempt to stay calm and drift back in but the pull is too heavy.... and I wake up at 7am.

      Quadrupal Dreaming X2

      September 17, 2008

Just like the night before last, I had Four dreams last night. At the moment I'm not too sure on the order of them, but I have a pretty good grasp on each one. Again I was attempting to lucid dream, except I wasn't as lucky this time around. However, I did have a minor lucid experience so I'll start with that dream first.

      Dream One: "Lucid Flop?"
It was night, and I was standing on the grounds of a familiar yet strange place. Partly, I seemed to be at a carnival of some sort, however memory told me that I had dreamed of being here before and I was somewhere where some dreamers go. The sky was dark, but the place was lit up by the Ferris Wheel. Instead of buildings, there were many large Purple tents. I was with a couple people, but I'm not sure who. Instinct tells me it was my husband Bobby and dear friend Alyssa, but I can't be certain. I told them that I recognized this place and I had been here in my dreams before, as I curiously thought to myself, "Am I on some sort of dream plane?" I warned them to stay away from a tiny man with a wooden staff and as we walked I pointed to a lone Tent that I said was a portal to other places. I asked them if they had also visited this place before. We walked towards the portal tent and I remembered something Alyssa had mentioned to me in waking life. She said that she knew someone who looked at his hands in a dream because in a dream we don't have a physical body and wouldn't be able to see our hands. I bring out my hands, and I'm not sure if I was able to see them right away, but then there they were! I thought this was odd, and I said aloud, "I thought I wouldn't be able to see my hands in a dream". (I must have imagined that I could) Just as we entered the tent, the small man with the staff came bouncing around us.

Dream Two: "What's Wrong with the Working World"

I was in a Job that I knew wasn't going anywhere. The greedy side of myself wanted a raise, but I knew the company was in trouble. I decide to come up with some quick, not so well thought out, ideas to make me look good in front of the boss. When it's time for me to step into my employer's office and share my thoughts my words come out scattered and unclear. Not to mention, my Boss is my Mother. I babbled about taking bigger chances and trying expensive things, however the company was struggling financially and she blatantly told me that these things couldn't be afforded. I attempted to suggest that we take a more artistic approach, and the idea started to really encourage myself. I envisioned a man staring up at the stars next to a telescope, completely lost in the sky, but surprisingly not distracted by his surroundings. He stood on a crowded street in the middle of the city, with hundreds of people walking by. Before I could get this idea across it was now my father interrupting me saying rudely how he had heard enough and wanted me to be on my way. I was hurt that he'd cut me off like that and not even care.

      Dream Three: Medical Teen
A man was injured and lying in the street, and I was one of the onlookers. A young girl was bent over him to see if he was ok, and she couldn't be older than 18 or 19. Her parents arrive at the scene, and she has a desperate look on her face. They are obviously wealthy, and they give their daughter a serious look. "I don't want to do this anymore," She fights. "But you have to," they tell her. She takes a thin tube and puts it down the corner of his eye and into his nasal cavity, so that she can draw out some of his nasal fluid... somehow saving his life. I think to myself, "Wow, I can't believe she's a doctor and so young. I wonder if her parents forced her into the medical profession, hence her disliking for it." Some men from the army saluted her for her good work, and when the leader had raised his chin she saw some faint blue lines that made out the numbers 3 8 8. When he lowered his head back down you could barely see the lines poking up on the bottom part of his chin.

      Dream Four: Wedding Dresses

I was in a wedding shop with two of my female friends searching for dresses to have in my own wedding. I had some specific ideas in mind and they were each trying to help me find a certain dress. When one of them wasn't so sure what I was looking for, I went to explore the bridesmaid dresses with her. I said I wanted something that started out looking sort of like overalls (not sure why I wanted that! lol) but it was a dress. She told me to live a little because it was my wedding, and pointed out that Red looked really good on her. Then I saw a dress hanging on a mannequin that I liked. It was kind of earthy and a bit hippie like me. Tied up in the back and had an interesting design (that in the waking life I probably wouldn't like). Colors were purple and green.

      Restless Sleep

      September 18, 2008

My Daughter Rayne is Teething, so neither she or I slept very well last night. I've been stressed and scatter-brained with all the things I need to take care of and we're moving on Monday. Despite having a crummy morning and feeling exhausted today, I managed to remember three dreams last night.

      Dream #1: Parental Confusion
We were visiting my parents house and for some odd reason my Mother in Law Joy was there too, and she never visits. (She's not very fond of my mother) She and my Father were talking in the kitchen and laughing. I open the refrigerator and I see some Reese Peanut Butter Cups inside and they belong to my dad. This is odd to me, 'cause suddenly I remember how Joy does the same thing at her house. After pointing that out she replies, "Yeah I know, we're so much alike!" Then she goes on to say things about how "What's the chances that we'd both be here, I mean we're basically the two most controlling people around and we just so happen to be in the same place!" I know she didn't mean controlling like it sounds though, she was referring to how they like to know what's going on and be in control of their life - which in the walking life I never thought to be an aspect of my father.

      Dream #2: The Attic
Some friends and I were going through a bunch of old stuff in an attic that used to belong to an older woman. It was cluttered, dusty, and dim... just like most attics. There were clothes, boxes, and lots of different toys. I pointed out the Flintstones nick-knacks, but then I stumbled across an odd toy that was filled with shiny beads. Jokingly I opened the bottom so that they'd all fall out down Megan's shirt. The rest is hazy from there.

      Dream #3: Sand Monster?
I vaguely remember this dream, and all I can really recall is being on a sandy beach on a nice clear sunny day. Very few clouds in the sky, and I'm guessing I was by the ocean although I only remember the sand and what was on it. Some creature, possibly mechanical, hovered over me. It was very large and looked towards me roaring. It seemed very dragon like, and kind of orange and gold in color. He had a Long neck and a fat body. I knew I was suppose to bring it down, but I was lost to as how I was to accomplish that. Instead, someone else (male) takes what used to be a toy to battle it. Suddenly the "toy" is a huge crane of some sort, and he takes care of the problem for me.

      2 AM Insomnia

      September 19, 2008

Perhaps its from the busy days of moving, or all that water I had yesterday, but I woke up in the middle of the night. It was shortly after two in the morning, I took a potty break, and tried to focus on lucid dreaming. My mind seemed restless though and struggled to concentrate. I did however start to remember three dreams, and the fourth one came when I finally got back to sleep and Four something in the morning. And then I woke up at 6:50 am.

      Dream #1: Hospital Help
I was visiting a hospital while a friend was telling me about a little girl just about Rayne's age. She explained that she was dying and there was nothing they could do, this broke my heart. I told Bobby and he had a similar reaction. Next thing I know, I'm on my way out. It's late and the place is empty, dark, and quiet. Someone who works at the hospital walks me out, and on the way to the doors I notice how filthy the place is. I ask about it, assuming that its just related to heavy business and lack of staff. I end up helping the guy out by scrubbing grime off the walls and the back of chairs while we laughed and talked.

Dream #2: Keep an Open Mind
Not sure if this was part of another dream or by itself but it starts out at my parents house (I think) and Tim is just getting home. We're talking on the couch (Bobby, My father, Megan, and I) and Tim says he finished the movie we lent him. We asked how he liked it, but were surprised to find he wasn't all that impressed. Meanwhile he puts down a messy burger that he offered me. I notice that the bread is falling a part and the tomatoes are sliding out. We try to encourage him to keep an open mind, 'cause we all liked it and it turns into a small debate. We assume he just didn't get it, and he needs to give it another chance. (Something about it makes me think it was a super hero movie)

      Dream #3: Vacation Frustration
Bobby and I are taking some sort of vacation, where he meets a red head that quickly befriends him. I don't seem to mind at first, 'cause Bobby is completely oblivious to her flirtatious behavior and it's obvious enough that he isn't interested in any way shape or form. While they hang out only a couple feet behind me, off to my right shoulder, I sit on the sand staring out at the... Ocean? Oddly There is a sandy hill in front of me to my right, where Zack is sitting at his computer in a glass room. He seems to not be aware of me, in fact its almost as if he's not even "there", but at home. I text him on MSN, using a laptop and we chat for a little while. Then the laughter of Bobby and his friend distract me. When I turn around Bobby is being easily amused by melting chocolate sticks. Because of the heat, they stick to your skin...and he found this out by tossing them (flirtatiously) at the girl. He's just innocently joking, but I start to get mad. I make a comment, that shows I'm annoyed, and he thinks I'm playing around. I said something like, "Don't waste them, I might want some later you know!" He tosses me some of the candy and that just frustrates me even more. What really ticked me off though was when the girl started to say things against me. I rush over there piping mad, and he can't seem to understand why. (The red head resembles the replacement off of Two Weeks Notice) She responds to something I say with "I don't think having a plan is always a good idea." Huffy I start getting in her face saying things like "Was I talking to you" and then I make a real good point against her that shuts her up. I gather up some of my things and start to storm off, Bobby quickly behind me. She makes another uncalled for remark, "Have fun with sex tonight", knowing that's the last thing I was interested in at the time. I know that Zack is up on that hill so I storm in that direction, no where near being in the mood to talk to Bobby. Finally when I get close enough I yell, "NO!", loud enough to catch Zack's attention. He reacted just as I thought he would. As I continued to storm off he Ran down and blocked Bobby saying, "Hey man, just let her go".

      Dream #4: Sex and Art?
Confusing sexual dream. At some points it feels like we were in the computer game Sims 2 (hard to explain). I remember we were trying to have sex in a Limo. When we got out, the dream sort of switched though. Just a foot or two down the sidewalk was a glass wall with three abstract paintings on it.
