Question Dream journal and its relation to dream recall

The title is pretty self explanatory. I'd like to hear you guys' opinions on the relation between those two.

I might be wrong, but I noticed a pattern: when I wrote on my DJ everyday, i started to improve my dream recall; I could remember rather well 2 or 3 dreams per night. Then, I started slacking off with my DJ and now there's a lot of night when I can't remember a dream very well, only a few vague scenes.

And I imagining things, or there's really a connection between them?

      thanks!!

My dream recall also increases when I write in my DJ. I think the reason for this is that the more you write in it (or even when you have just started and can't recall anything yet), even just intending to write in it will tell your brain that dreams are important to you. And the more it remembers that they are important, it will be inclined to help you out and recall them.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

This is basically like asking - What is the game memory's relation to memory

When you keep a dream journal you are practising your short-term memory and that help you remember your dreams. But one thing to keep in mind, try to get rid of the idea of remembering your dreams primarily because you have good recall so you can lay still in bed and with a process of trying to remember and then attain the lost memories of your dreams.

Instead try to focus on the awareness itself in the dream and remember the dreams not because you recall them, but because it's already experienced and it's already in your memory. So focus on the memory of awareness of the dream sort of. Visualize how it feel to be dreaming!

Awareness and memory go hand in hand, because it is a part of what makes us, but if you are more aware you remember more.

A dream journal to me is also a small tool for meassuring awareness, the more you remember upon awakening the more aware you were.

So no you are not imagining things

Yeah it's actually true. It's kinda funny I was looking at my DJ this morning, i've been updating it daily for a week and its entries progressively get bigger and more detailed. Thanks for the info guys you rock
