      curse my lazy ways

My dream recall is completely shot. Before I learned about lucid dreaming I had pretty poor dream recall, then my dream recall rapidly increased, I could remember at least one dreama night in good detail. But recently I just havent been bothered to write down dreams, and now I can barely remember them and I know this time it wont be as easy to get my recall back. I actually feel like those 8 odd hours are being wasted

I need help to get back that "spark" that made me want to lucid dream in the first place, what does it for you?
I can't say I really know anything about what you're talkinga bout , but I said plausible because of that incredibly cool blind spot trick .

Be confident that you have great recall, instead of thinking its totally lost and taking you alot of work.

I know what you mean. If I don't make an effort to write down my dreams, I don't remember them. I like to start my journal entry the night before...then in the morning I am kind of forced to write them down. That helps some for me. I start out by writing down the date and then writing "Last night I dreamt...." See how that works for you.

      Hey goku,
Well, you could be stressin yourself a bit too much over it - or - you may be stressed in waking life. You get a new job? Loose a job? Breakup with partner?

You could also just be suffering from recall fatigue and trying the same old thing expecting it to change. Try doing something different. Maybe you don't need to write down all your dreams just yet. How about instead, wake up and only jot down a number - like from 1 to 5. The number will represent how much of dreams (as a whole, not just each dream) you can recall.

      Example:
You wake up and know you had a dream that had something to do with swimming. Maybe a beach. That would be a "1".

You wake up and remember scenes of talking to a dolphin. At one point you remember and office, and another image of dinosaurs. None of these relate, but you DO remember something. This could be a "3".

You wake up and know you were in the ocean, talking to a dolphin that at some point led you to the shore, where you saw dinosaurs and hid into an office. This would be a "5".

Give it a shot - eventually you might start remembering whole dreams and that's when you can journal them.

      Good luck!

Perhaps focus on the use of your dreams for more than just LD. Record your dreams for the sake of your non-LD dreams. Once you have some dreams, then look over the patterns in them. Not only will you find useful dream signs, but the patterns themselves can tell you something about you and your unconscious. I have had some powerful revelations from this.

Also, as I just mentioned in another thread, write in your journal when you don't recall any dreams. That, along with some of the other suggestions in this thread, will keep up your discipline. I find, as I think you have, that the dreams, LD or not, come with the discipline.

I am just like that. The thing is, recall comes back very easy. It leaves fast and it comes back fast, all you have to do is start writing dream down and you will have great recall again. Don't worry about your recall being hard to get back, if anything its easier.

If you went back to writing down all your dreams, you would be back to recalling a dream a night in less than a week. Of course if you stop, you will start forgetting them all again.
