      Reality Check

I need some help on RC's. Ive been doing reality checks for a long time now, about 2-3 days, and still havn't gotten a LD. I have a hard time remmembering to Reality check inside my dream, no matter how silly it is.

Any tips on remmebering to RC in a dream? I dont know whats wrong but I havn't gotten a LD for about 3 months now. This is pretty strage because i used to have lots of lucid dreams.

I need some help. I WANT MY LUCID DREAMS BACK.

You need to be doing 21+ RCs spread throughout the day. I had the problem of doing RCs only during the morning and night for a long time. Try to get RCs in during mid-day.

Also when carrying out an RC, have the conviction that you will see what isn't supposed to be there.

When I count my fingers, I expect more than five fingers to be there. If I look at the clock, I expect to be acting funny.

      etc...

I know, thats what im having trouble on! No matter what is wrong with the scene, i do not RC.

And i do have reality checks during the middle of the day. Maybe not 21 times but very close.

If you are keeping a dream journal, there may be consistent themes, events, or places in your dream that you visit/experience often in reality.

If you notice a trend...such as walking in your bathroom all the time or getting on your computer etc. in both your dreams and reality, do a reality check whenever it happens.

Before you go to sleep tonight...try this:

      1. Perform a reality check as you normally do.

      2. As you fall asleep, picture yourself doing that RC and becoming lucid.

The place in which you picture yourself doing the RC can be a recurrent dream place or a simple room that says "Do a reality check now!" on the walls.

Ok, i guess ill try it. I already do the RC part before i go to sleep, just not the "Do a reality check right now!" thing.

Anyways, thx for the help. Ill try your method tonight...lol.. maybe ill even get a LD(first in months).

      Good night.

You'll need to do this for more than 2 or 3 days. I have only started to get some results after a month. I think one of the tutorials indicated we normally need at least 3 weeks.

No LD last night. I have a very hard time remmembering to do a reality check(in the dream).
Maybe the reason i can t RC in a dream is because i cant control myself. I can remmember a dream almost 90%. My brother can barely remmember his dreams, and he got a LD last night. He just told himself right before sleeping,"I will remmember my dream". Not to have a LD but for the purpose of remmebering. Wierd, I guess ill try that tonight. It's probably going to be a failure but i have no other methods.

      What do you guys think

Obviously you aren't going to have a 100% success rate.

I know it sounds so cliche in these boards but you have a positive attitude. Meaning, don't expect so much so fast. Just keep at it, if you have an LD...great...if you don't...oh well.

Be sure to mark which dreams in your journal or whatnot you started at the beginning of, they will most likely carry dream signs at the beginning which are easy to recognise and give you a whole dream.

Some dream signs (such as my puppy) appear at the end of the dream and if you try to recognise these and do reality checks, then you won't have that much of a dream left to work on.

So basically, find the early dream signs!

Also increasing dream recall is a solution for anything, try to remember more details about yoru dreams, what colours are the walls, did they remind you of anything, etc.

Sorry I can't give much more help than that but I don't have the most experience out of the 100's of people here.

Almost all of my dreams start off in my bed, so I just trained myself to RC everytime I wake up. Train yourself to RC everytime you see a dreamsign.

Well, none of my dreams start off in my bed. My dreams are random.

I haven't had much luck the last few days so I have started yelling "REALITY CHECK!" everytime something weird happens, or every hour on the hour, whichever comes first. Then I hold my nose and try to breathe and start trying to shove one hand thru the other. I do this no matter where I am or who I am with.

Hope it works soon, I am getting some weird looks at work.

      Wow, same here.

What I can say is that reality checks in dreams are not obvious! You just kinda notice something is off and then you may not even notice it. Somtimes clocks only change 1 digit but you are so sure you are dreaming you ignore it or you miscounted your fingers and think bah.

I didn't have chance to destroy a building though, I was too busy mourning for my dog.
