Thumbs up

I've just recently started trying to improve my dream recall to work my way up to lucid dreaming. I'm keeping a dream journal and everything, but my recall isn't very good. I've only recalled a few bits and pieces of one dream in the past four to five nights.

I read up on B6 a little bit, but I have a few questions that I can't seem to find a concrete answer for.

How much B6 do you need for it to effectively help your dream recall? Can I eat a banana and drink a glass of milk and see results, or do I really have to buy the more concentrated pills? Also, do I intake the B6 when I go to bed, or try to wake up in the middle of the night and then do it?

Melatonin.. I've read up on it a bit to find out that it is a sleep aid, but my question is this: Does melatonin have any positive effect toward dream recall or lucid dreaming? Do people take it with B6 because B6 makes it more difficult to sleep or because it helps to recall and/or LD?

Do tobacco and/or marijuana have any effect on your dream recall, or ability to lucid dream? If so, what kind of effects is it?

As always, thanks so much for the help that I may receive on these questions.

A banana and glass of milk probably don't contain enough B6 to have notable effects, no. Considering the recommended daily allowance is something like 2mg, and most people take at least 50mg in a pill, it seems that anything below the RDA is too little. I've tried eating a banana before bed, or a bowl of porridge, but ti didn't seem to help.

As for whether to take it before going to bed at night, or getting up in the night to take it, I reccomend getting up. I tried a 50mg B6 tablet last night befor ebed, and the results weren't particularly good. I'm going to try getting up early and taking some B6 either tomorrow or the next day, so I'll let you know how it goes.

To my knowledge, no, Melatonin does not have an effect on dream recall or lucidity. It's a sleep aid. BUT somebody may correct me on this...

Marijuana. to my knowledge, affects the content of dreams (crazier, etc) but I don't think it has an effect on recall or lucidity.

But, I think I may be wrong, so if I am, somebody correct me...

The first reason.

Marijuana greatly diminishes your dream recall. Whenever I would go to bed stoned, the best I could ever recall the next day was a couple scattered fragments, and most of the time I didn't recall anything at all. I can't really say whether or not it hurts your ability to lucid dream (mainly because I never remembered my dreams when I was smoking pot), however I can guarantee you that it doesn't help .

I don't think tobacco has a strong effect either way. It probably hurts a little, simply because of affecting your circulation and whatnot, but the effects are probably negligible.

ALSO: Don't get into a habit of mega-dosing on B6 every night. It's okay to do it occasionally though. Do not exceed 100mg per day - I wouldn't even exceed 50mg per day, personally.

1. The amount of B6 varies from person to person. Personally, I see results with 50mg before bed and I can hardly sleep if I try 100mg.
2. I only take Melatonin to aid with sleep. I use it in conjunction with B6 because B6 makes it harder to sleep.
3. I have heard that some people will have very vivid dreams if they take a "Dip" or use chewing tobacco shortly before bed. Pot on the other hand is not good on your recall. You should probably stay away from that if you want to improve your recall.

Melatonin has a profound effect on vividness, content, length, coherence and lucidity, etc. Especially together with B6. I've been taking melatonin, most of the time with B6 for over 2 years now. So I can barely remember how normal dreams feel like.
But I can give you a testimony from my mom, who also uses melatonin, one time she got herself a bottle of melatonin with 10 mg of B6 - she gave the bottle to me in less than a week complaining that " She sees too many dreams and they are too involved". And that's saying someting.

Then there are guys who trip on melatonin and B6 - but they take monstrous loads, like 15 mg melatonin +300 mg B6. I've tried that, you definitely see some weird dreams

About B6- you need 10-50 mg, preferably taken in the middle of the night with a glass of water. This way you get very cool dreams AND you have a good chance of spontaneous lucidity. I dont know why that happens - you just dream and suddenly you are aware that you are dreaming. Very cool.
Bananas also have an effect, but you need to eat a couple.

Weed has an effect on dreaming/LDing, but it's very hard to use any techniques after smoking cause you feel so nice. I had LDs after smoking it tho.

Well, I haven't smoked pot at all in the past 4 days in efforts of improving my recall. This in itself proves my motivation, because I normally smoke on a daily basis with my friends due to there being nothing to do in my town. However, I still haven't succeeded in remembering any dreams.

I've been thinking about trying some B6 and/or Melatonin if I continue to see failure in dream recall, but I would much rather be able to recall my dreams naturally without having to rely on a pill. And while I'm somewhat of a fan of tripping, I don't think I would see any purpose in using these things to trip. I'm sure I can find something a bit better for that sort of thing.

Remember, it can take a week or two for most of it to get out of your system (probably more than a month to get it all out), especially if you've been a daily user for some time. Don't worry, I can almost guarantee that your recall will improve if you stay off of it for a while.

Trying B6 or Melatonin wouldn't hurt either. Personally, I've had some decent luck with Valerian root helping my recall -- maybe give that a shot also.

AFAIK it takes 5-90 days to get *metabolized* inactive THC out of your system. This THC has no effect on your brain, your dreaming or whatever else, it's a fat soluable compound that just sits in your fat for a long time and shows up on drug tests.

If you smoked daily it will take a very long time to get rid of this kind of THC.

I'm not sure if tolerance or any other psychoactive compounds present in weed have an effect on dreaming. I havent noticed much difference recalling dreams the nights after I smoked. The bad thing is that I didnt write any of them down cause I felt so nice and comfortable

Hehe, I'm fairly sure you will find a better thing to trip if you smoke daily
