After I started in school again, my dream-recall has turned pretty bad. I know I am dreaming long and vivid dreams, but I just can't write anything down. I remember something from everywhere in the dream, but it's all so fragmented and mixed up. Can anybody help me out here? I really want to write these dreams down, as they're pretty nice actually

      Hey Marvo,

well, what sucks about having to go back to school is that you're now probably forced into a new sleep schedule and waking yourself up sooner than you have been in the summer. This interruption of sleep wakes you up before your dream naturally ends and also doesn't give you much time to relax and recall the dream once you wake up.

You're likely being awaked by an alarm clock - and this forces you to move your body (to turn it off) and suddenly think about having to get ready for class (rather than lying still and recalling your dream). You're brain is doing it's best to recall these vivid dreams, but you're too busy with other thoughts to let them sink in.

My advice would be to try to get to bed earlier, so your schedule changes a bit so that you actually wake up about an hour BEFORE your alarm goes off. Half an hour might work as well, but it's probably best to shoot for an hour - this way you have time to recall, THEN to get up and write.

      Good luck!

Oh! I have the exact same problem. I also have my alarm clock wake me up at 3 am, the problem with this is that I remember the dream/dreams, but in those few minutes of being awake I decide not to write them down. I don't know why , it just seems so unimportant at that moment just before I fall unconcious (spelling?).
I also feel very dazy and sometimes just can't tell the difference between my dream, thoughts or the "waking world", sometimes in the middle of the day I realize it wasn't a thought, but a dream (that I can't fully recall anymore ofcourse).

Any suggestions/ideas about my silly problems?
      Thanks!

      Hey everyone

Wow we are like the opposeite. I find that when im back at school my recall is better, its cos i have a schedule which im used to and i set my alarm clock to wake me up 15mins before i actualy have to get up, so that way i can lay still and gather fragments of my dream till i get a whole story. Like on average on a school day i remember 2 dreams. Hmmmm it might be because my alarm goes off as soon as i finish my dream. I go to bed at around 11-11.30 sometimes earlier due to long tireing day and get up at 7 so i set it for 6.45. Hmmm that might be during my REM period. Try going to bed earlier and catching a time when ur in REM period.
Oh i am soo happy cos my recall is getting better about 2 weeks ago i was having a dry spell for LDs and Recall it was horrible, so i tryed extra hard i took relaxing baths at night then attempted to meditate lol im not very good at it but i am trying to improve then i drink warm milk, and while in bed read my dream journal and think about my dreamsigns then as im going to sleep i keep saying to myself, "when i dream i will realize i am dreaming" and "When i wake up i will remember my dreams".
      Good luck everyone

      Thanks Joe and Bonsay

I am sure going to bed earlier, will make me remember my dreams better. I sleep a bit more than 7 hours a night, and it's clearly not enough hehe. When I wake up, I just have an incredible urge to sleep again, because I am hell tired. I can easily fall asleep earlier in the night, but I am into computer and stuff, which keeps me up to around 11:30.

I am gonna cut that down to 10:30 I believe

And again, I dream alot, I recall like 3 different dreams from tonight, but it's all very fragmented. I know, that I had a very vivid and good dream, but it's too mixed up, to be remembered/written down.

Okay, I am having problems with the recall again. I sleep about 7 hours a night now, but it doesn't help. I simply don't recall anything, but small bits and stuff, that can't be linked together. I know that I had a long vivid and funny dream, though I just can't recall the entire show

      Can somebody help me ?
