Do you think i would remember my dreams better and clearer if i wake up in the middle of the night once and record the ones i remember and then record the rest when i get up?

Because the past couple days i've remembered 2,4, and the next day, 3 dreams without waking up once in the middle of the night, some weren't that clear, but atleast i remembered them in the morning.so,anybody have any suggestions. The only time i would probably want to get up in the middle of the night, is on weekends because i have to get up at 7 a.m during the week.thanks to anybody who replies!

Definitely. If I don't get up at night and right them down, I can hardly remember anything in the morning, including lucids. If I just write a few words, tho, the whole dream will come back to me. Then somtimes when I am writing my dreamjournal, I'll remember some more. But if I don't get something down at night, I lost it all.

Some people say that drinking a lot of water before bed wakes you up, but for me it just makes me run to the bathroom in the morning and by then I've lost my dream. I bet it depends on the person, might work for you.

I also dislike setting the alarm for earlier, but my alarm clock does 2. I set one to the annoying beep beep BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP this one gets me up so I am not late. I set the other to play the CD, on which I have burned some mp3's that start real slow (no lyrics) so that I can focus on my dreams without needing to shut it off until I have figured out the whole dream. I am still working on perfecting the volume levels, but it has worked once or twice for me. You're still off to a better start than me, I sometimes remember one dream—my grand total is two.

It really depends on the person, I'd say just as a general answer because then you can put it down fresh in your mind [the only con would be possibly messing handwriting].

Personally, I'd say no, because one way or the other your dream recall, by using a dream journal, will improve, and I'm not the type who likes to wake up in the middle of the night, no matter what.

I'm the kind of person who'd break an alarm clock if it took me out of a good dream and/or I was really tired so I can't really offer advice for that tactic. I'm also the kind of person who drinking water before bed won't wake me up. I've even tried tea, that only left me sick. Wow, that basically leaves me with no advice.

That is, unless, you're the kind of person who can either train themselves to wake up at a certain time whenever [ I do that, if I want to wake up at 4, I can do so without an alarm, the only benefit hating alarm clock sounds ahs given me.].

Or buy another alarm clock with a loud buzzer, set it to a certain time and train yourself to not turn it off until you're awake or wake up before it does [buying another alarm gets rid of constantly having to change the alarm time of your clocks, one is always on early wake up time, the other on the required wake up time].

Just keep a dream journal, and write down whatever dreams you remember. Also, before you go to sleep, keep on telling yourself in your head , ''I will lucid dream''. It might not give you a lucid dream, but for me, it helps me remember my dreams a lot more.

How do you guys NOT wake up all night long? I rarely sleep a whole night thru. Drink more water or more something and you'll wake up for sure.

i don't want to pee myself at night by drinking lots of water,ha. just recently i woke up and REALLY had to pee, but i was too lazy to get out of bed so i slept for another 3 hours... ha, i'm saying that i rarely get up at night. usually when i sleep somewhere else where i normally don't, i wake up A LOT, but i think im just going to set my alarm for like 4 or 5 and do a FILD or one of the breathing things and try and go lucid and stuff.i haven't been lucid for almost 2 weeks!!! i was kind of stressed though, i put off a big project and had just about no time to do it, and then for 3 days i couldn't really remember any of my dreams.yeah, randomness

Whenever I need to wake up at a certain time at night, I usually just think about it alot or repeat to myself a few times "I will wake up at so-and-so time." It works every time. I'm not sure if this works for me only, but it has become quite scary as I've made myself wake up at exact minutes.

Maybe you can try it? It might work.

You could probably set an alarm clock to a certain time you want to wake up to, and use it for a week to two weeks. After a while you'll start waking up before it rings.

Awesome I've got to try this

Original point: Yes definitely. If you set your alarm for some time during an REM period then you should remember at least one dream.

I get up maybe 3-4 times a night to go pee, sometimes up to 6 times.
What can I say, I'm a thursty man!

When I get up I don't usually get up and write in my DJ, but by waking up I memorize keywords and then in the morning I can recall 3+ dreams.

DILD: 8 + (1 lucid without control and 3 with lousy recall)
      FILD: 1
      DEILD: 1
      Incubated lucid dreams: 1

I just memorize them best if I think about the dream when I wake up.
Then I can just recall almost every movement, action, or anything else that happened, including environmental ''differences'' and stuff.

Also if you don't want to stay awake for too long, you can keep the dream journal and a pencil next to your bed (a small lamp would be nice too), and jot down a few words that will trigger the memory of the dream in the morning...

yeah, to improve dream recall its important to wake after your dreams. you can set an alarm or just do a MILD and set an intention, i find the water way is fairly haphazard. Yet I wake up and eat a 4th meal at like 2, because i screwed up my sleep schedule, not saying you should do this, but i certainly remember dreams when i wake then. And by the time i go bak to sleep its transfered to whatever memory you use during the day so i can remember them clearly.
