Heyo. I've been on DV for a while, and have learned much since I first joined. Some of you may know me, and that I've asked recall questions in the past. The difference is now that I absolutely know WHY I have low recall: I don't wake directly from dreams, and an alarm clock waking me multiple times is not a solution since once I'm awake, I stay awake.

So, is there any way to train oneself to awaken from dreams naturally? I know that we all have multiple dreams every night, provided we sleep a good amount of time. However, I am convinced the reason my recall is below-average is that my body doesn't like to awaken from REM dreams... STUPID BODY!!! If I DO manage to recall a dream, it's in the morning after a lucky wakeup from an REM period. This, of course, is too random and haphazard for any reliable recall.

ANY help is appreciated. I already keep a dream journal, but I'd like to fill it with more details!

hmm... you know, now that I think about it, I really don't know. For some reason I just do. maybe it's a subconscious decision that I make... to be honest, the first time I noticed that I was waking up after the dream was when I started doing MILDs... maybe try convincing yourself that you WILL wake up after every dream, remembering everything. That's what I do. I tell myself "I WILL remember EVERYTHING that I dream of."

You can probably do it in a sort of MILD. When you wake in the middle of the night, set your intentions. Maybe imagine yourself having woken from your past dream. Perhaps modifying intentions can help you naturally wake up after dreams. I also don't wake up after all my dreams but maybe about 1/3 of them in a nights sleep.

      just an idea

Like laconix I wake up from a lot of my dreams naturally. Before I discovered lucid dreaming I really was quite annoyed with the "ability". Perhaps, thinking in your head "I will wake up from my dream" over and over again will help. I can't really support this because the first time I did it I slept through the whole night without waking. For you it might work though. Just throwing out suggestions.
