The past two nights I had two of my most recognizable dreamsigns show up in my dreams. Both were vivid and fairly long. First dream I was with my friends from high school, which I havent seen in years.
Now I had been telling myself and reviewing my dreamsigns throughout the days that the next time I saw my friends, I'd be dreaming. But I didn't go lucid during that dream. Not even a hint at a reality check.

The next dream I was a truck driver with my standard shift dreamsign. Everytime I get in my car (which is an auto) I tell myself, If this was a standard shift, I'd be dreaming. Again, no reality check in the dream, no lucid.

I've been using a subliminal message program also. Two of the messages are:
"When I see my friends, I am dreaming" and "When I drive manual shift, I am dreaming"

      Any thoughts to my failure?
      I sleep to dream.

When you say those things in real life, do you ever check to see if you're dreaming? It's one thing to say "When I drive standard shift, I'm dreaming" and another to follow up with it. It seems like you're at least getting through to your subconscious and planting ideas in you mind, but add a reality check. After time, if you're used to doing reality checks, you'll be more apt to question your state automatically. Just keep practicing.

It could also have just been a fluke. Heaven knows how many obvious cues I've missed.

It's exactly as how she put it, it's no good it you don't practice it when you tell yourself that. It won't become a solid routine that will continue to carry on in your subconscious mind. And sometimes you just haven't done it enough for you to remember in your dreams, I know that's how ti is for me [it's even worse when you're lucid and you forget what you really wanted to do in your sleep that you remembered when you were awake]
