      Has anyone done that?

I found this on a website. It's a self-made LD inducing machine. Something like NovaDreamer. Has anyone tried to make such a device and use it?
      -------------------------------------------
How to make the cheapest LD inducing device ever
This device does not detect the REM period like the NovaDreamer, but if you calculate correct you will get a flashing light during your dream like the NovaDreamer does.

This document shows you how to make a LD inducing device out of 4 simple things:

An alarm clock (cheapest you can get, IKEA or similar) Glasses/Hard paper, LEDs (like the lights you got in the front of your PC,) and some wires

      1. The first thing you do is to get everything on the list.

      2. Open up the clock and find the beeper (black thing with a hole where you can see something shining, or similar.) This is usually connected with wires. Cut of the beeper at the end of the wires. If the beeper is connected in some other way, try to find a way to make it in to two wires. Usually one of the wires are red, this is the '+' wire, keep that in mind. Get the wires from the beeper out of the clock (make a hole or something) and be careful so you don't rip off the wires.

      3. Get your hands on some glasses that you can use or make your own. To make your own just cut it out from some hard paper. Feel free to use the measures shown at the drawing at the bottom of the page. Make some holes where your eyes are for the LEDs, and put them in.

      4. Connect the LED's in parallel with a 2 wired cable as shown in the picture. Make sure that there are no week points in the connection that can disconnect the device when you move at night. Also make sure you don't mix up the poles. '+' at '+' and '-' at '-'. The LEDs only work one way.

      5. Connect a battery with the '-' pole at the red beeper wire and the '+' wire from the glasses to the '+' pole at the battery. Connect the other beeper wire ('-') to the '-' wire from the glasses. Make sure you secure the wires.

      6. Find out when you are likely to be in REM (you will have a REM period every 90 min. Try aiming for the late stages, like after 25min inside a 90 min. period.) The late REM is best since they are the longest. Try after 4 hours from you fall asleep, then you should hit a REM period.

      7. Before you fall asleep, set your intention at being Lucid when you see a flashing light using a MILD like technique. Remember that the light can come from anything, a car or a broken lamp. And don't forget to activate your alarm clock

It sounds like it's just connecting an action with becoming lucid, like I could set my TV to cut off in an hour and connect that with becoming lucid.
