      Setting the Alarm

      Tonight i'm gonna try for the first time setting my alarm to wake me up in the night in hopes of getting better dream recall. What are the best times to set it? I know every 90mins for a REM period, but should I set it for every 90mins? Or should I wait till i'm deeper asleep?

      I'm not positive but would think you would wait until later when you are in a deeper sleep. Say 3 or 4 hours into the night. I just dusted of an old tape recorder I'm going to keep next to the bed so I can record my dreams through out the night. Then write them down in my Journal in the morning. That helps with recall too. Much success

      Usually earlier in the night you will go through the initial cycles of sleep,
      There are five, the fifth being REM,

      Usually about five or six hours after sleeping you will hit your biggest stage of REM sleep,

      so probably your best bet, set the alarm for a time that you would have slept about five or six hours,

      and have it going off in 90 min intervals,

      Also, a nice mild alarm is nice, so you can wake up slowly, and gently back into conciousness, so dream recall will be easier

      Okay, so you mean set the alarm to first go off 5-6hrs after I go to sleep and then every hour nd a half after that?

      Tried it two nights in a row now, and seems to be working, I've only been able to remember one dream from each night, but I think thats a good start!

      With time you will discover the little techniques that personally work best for you, so be open to new ideas, keep experimenting
