      Building up Recall

Hi, I'm new here at Dreamviews, and have been following its tutorials advice on what is needed to improve recall. Every night I've been using the method where I continuously repeat "I will awaken from my dreams, and remember them completely". I have slightly been noticing a difference (I've been doing it for about almost a week), for example I started waking up an hour or so earlier than I usually wake up, which is different from before when I never woke up during the night, but I don't have any recall whatsoever (I have been using a dream journal, and have been writing in it even when I dont dream to get into the habit of it). Anyway my question is when should I expect to see results, such as waking up more during the night and increased recall?

welcome to Dreamviews( not sure if i'm supposed to say that)

Recalling dreams takes practice and patience
took me about 3 months to be able to remember 3-4 dreams

Results in dream recalling can vary
like, u may remember 3 dreams yesterday and none tonight

      I'll say about
      1 month= great recall

The results are different for everyone.

Keep at your dream journal for now. You've said you're new to this so it might take you a little while before you start remembering well.

Also, you may just be experiencing a dry spell, which is a period of little to no recollection of dreams. Just know that it won't last, and recording any small fragments of dreams you remember will be helpful.

Welcome to DV, and good luck

      ^.^

Ahh thanks guys for welcoming me and for the answers, just have one (or two) more question, on average how many hours of sleep should I be getting to have a good recall, would 6-7 be enough, and will it matter once my recall is good enough?

Well you dream in both REM and Non-REM where REM dreams are more vivid than Non-REM. You have a REM period every 90minutes and they get longer as the night passes. I would say try for ~8 hours if possible, but, even having 6-7 isn't bad. As for will it matter, I think it will as I explained before with the whole REM cycle thing. BTW, welcome to dreamviews

Thanks! Haha I geuss Ill just have to get into a better practice of going to sleep earlier, Unfortunately waking up at 6 everyday isn't exactly making it easy for me to get a ton of sleep, this is why when I sleep on the weekends I think my recall is better.
