      Time affecting dream recall?

      Hello everyone,
I'm curious whether the time we sleep affects our dream recall. The reason I ask is because it seems that if I sleep late(I'll say 1+), I can't remember dreams as well or at all. If I sleep earlier(11ish), then my recall is much better or at least way last I checked. I plan to do more testing to see if this is truly the case or if I just got lucky. Do you guys experience such a thing or is your dream recall intact regardless what time you sleep? One other thing to mention is that regardless what time I sleep, in some cases, I still end up getting the 7-8h of sleep a night

Yes, the amount we sleep affects it. For obvious reasons.

As to what time... I could suppose that if our internal clock is ticking, and that it regulates REM sleep, that if you fell asleep later, the REM cycle could be disturbed slightly. This is not backed by anything... Just an idea.

Also, our bodies would hypothetically be more exhausted by the later time, so we could sleep deeper. Possibly making us forget dreams.

These are all just ideas... I'm not sure if they are correct.
      Bollocks.

hmm, definitely interesting ideas. I agree with your first statement except that too much is bad for your health. Maybe that's why I tend to forget them, because, I sleep deeper, hmm, definitely a good possibility. I eat a lot of cheese which makes me wonder if that's also a cause for my bad recall, but, my waking memory is just fantastic(been told that by people before), so, I'm not sure why the cheese would affect my recall, lol, now I'm gripping at straws. Anyone else wanna add into this discussion?
