Hey y'all. You may have already heard of this one but it works great for me.
Periodically through the day, test if you are dreaming by reading something close by. There is always something to read--could be a sign, email, label, etc., etc. Read a sentence or a few words. Then read the same words again. In real life, they will remain the same no matter how many times you read them.
If you are dreaming, nothing ever stays the same for very long! I've never been able to read the same thing twice in a dream.
I'm sure it could be different for others, but for me this seems to work well.
The key is to test for dreaming during the day so you get into the habit of testing--that will help you carry the habit into your dreams and test them there.
