      Not recalling dreams straight away

By straight away, I mean for maybe 30 minutes. When I wake up I can't remember anything I dreamt about. I'll be thinking "Why didn't I dream anything?"

Later on I'll be doing something else and it'll just hit me, that I had 2 or 3 dreams which I can now remember to a decent extent.

I realize I won't be able to remember my dreams as soon as my eyes open, but I don't know what to think about it taking as long as it does.

I've been keeping a DJ, but it's on my computer because I'm too deep a sleeper to wake up after my NDs (which is the only kind of dream I've had so far) and record them on pad beside my bed. Because of that, and the fact that I'm on the computer for about an hour after I get up I just keep it there instead.

Do you think there's any problem with that, or is a delayed recall fairly common?

I'd say it is fairly common. I usually remember atleast the dream I was just dreaming right when I wake up but through out the day I see something or someone that usually triggers my memory to remember a dream I had. Anyways if you keep up with the DJ it should get easier as time progresses.

So you can remeber more than one dream throughout the day without having to actively wake yourself up? That would prove useful, as I don't particularly like the idea, I like sleep...of course if it means becoming and staying lucid I guess I would have to try and...change....my sleeping habits. I just got the impression that memories of dreams were erased meaning you could only remember the dream you had just prior to waking up.

I usually dont remmeber them right when i wake up, unless i have written some stuff down in the middle of the night.

But often something that i see randomly will trigger a vivid picture of the dream...

Yes, I can remember them during the day. Last night my 3rd dream didn't come to me until about 8pm, 8 hours after waking up. It was triggered by an ad on TV.

I can still remember parts of my dreams from yesterday. They aren't simply erased and overwritten with every new dream you have.. at least not for me.

I've been finding keeping a DJ has helped a lot. Not so much with the amount of dreams I can remember (it's 2-3 consistantly), but with the vividness of dreams. I remember little details in my dreams that I wouldn't have before I was keeping a DJ. Even NDs can be fun I guess

yeah - this is something that's been happening to me a lot recently. I went for a walk the other day for a spliff, i was sitting down and thinking about one of my friends - when i realised one of the random things i'd remembered hadn't actually happened. Concentrating on this one strand of stray memory i managed to remember all of the events that led up to and followed this one point, thus recalling the previous night's dream in it's entirety.
