That sounds cool! But why would you put in a day-time world? There wouldn't be too much point in that... |

Cool thanks for the input, I don't like the idea of a daytime world either, but being just in a dream world would make the game boring and easy, we need to think of an alternative. |
Maybe the daytime world would be able to be used for a warzone for people that are arguing in their dreams...? Sorta like people are having arguments in their dream (for example, border issues with territories), then they go into war in the daytime world. Possibly their dream skills pass on into there to a certain degree...? Just an idea. |
Yeah that sounds awesome, people can control countries, and make their own. Selling land to each other and stuff, nice idea! You can be a moderator . |
Yeah, I know. Just trying to think of a way to make the daytime world have a real purpose. I don't think people would just want to hang around for a few hours until nighttime comes. If you do end up making that game, it would probably be a good idea to make the daytime no more than an hour long (based on the assumption that you would have the daytime and nighttime alternate through certain time periods). |
yeah, i'd do three hour shifts (or something like that), what about every three hours a portal opens, to the other realm (Earth/Dream) for half an hour, and if you miss it, your stuck for another three hours. Or would people get annoyed? |
what exactly do you mean by "dream based game" ? |
good at : wild
bad at: dream recall
lds: 75+
If you do that people would probably be annoyed and would have the choice to stay in one part of the day forever if they really wanted to. If people don't like the dream part of the game then they will probably stay in the daytime for as long as they can, ruining the point of the game. To prevent this you should put a time limit for both daytime and nighttime. Of course a shorter one for daytime so that they still participate in what the game was meant for longer than what it wasn't meant for (stay in nighttime longer than daytime in case you didn't get what I meant). |
Yeah but I'm mainly basing it on the dream world. |
There is still the possibility of players staying in one place forever. Maybe a timer only on the daytime...? Oh, here is a way that can keep people from staying in the daytime for too long. If they stay in there for way too long, then their levels start to drop because of sleep deprivation. yeah... that's a good idea. |
Yeah nice idea. |
Make it so that as you gain experience, your Dream Control goes up (ie you can do progressively more stuff, sort of like a slowly expanding ability set). |

Project Pandora [B]
~ I'll give this some attention, maybe get it going again some time in the future
No. Why would you use insert? It's way out of the way and inconvenient. Also it's more or less standard these days to have running to be the default speed and you hold shift to walk. Unless there is some disadvantage to running all the time, that's generally what people will want to do. Also why do you need a rotate clockwise button and why is it bound to home? |
Good point, I hadn't even thought of that. Now it makes even less sense. |

Ok, I will eventually upload some screenshots. On the In-Game menu there is something to click on instead of having to press all these keys, its just easier to use the keys. |
Let's see how you're doing first. |

My idea is to put a lot of different LD techniques into the gameplay. I mean, it would be cool to learn some new stuff about dreaming while playing (educational aspect). It could be done by engaging gamers' alertness, encouraging reality tests and so on. Hmmm.. another thought. This game could be expanded, it could be present in our everyday life by simple tasks that NPC or whoever would ask gamers to accomplish, i.e. "Next time you see a clock, look at it, close your eyes and open them, check if hour didn't change". It would be your daytime part of the game. |
It would be easier to use the keys if you assigned the actions in a way that made sense. As it is now your hands will be jumping all over the keyboard. Why not use a group of keys that are close together? Something like X for attack, Z for spell, C for use/pickup. That'd be 9999 times easier to use. |
Anyway, there should be an option of configuring your keys, personalized binds. That's a standard. |
Nice idea YOUVE JUST CHOSEN THE NAME! |
