      Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy....

Hey! I’ve not heard 'anyone' on this forum say anything about this movie post-the day it came out, everyone was so excited about it then all of a sudden it got very quite......

I haven’t seen it yet (prob everyone else’s excuse).

Have to see it this week.

i saw it in the States...suffice it to say i nearly fell asleep at least twice...it was okay..but the humour didn't really appeal to me...it felt like i was watching one of those 'canned laughter' comedy shows.

i thought the trailer made it look really neat, so i went and saw it. there were a few really good laughs, and a lot of it was very unique and interesting, but it was just annoyingly goofy...like unnecessarily so.

it was obnoxious. it had a couple funny parts and some of it was neat...but most of it was annoying and it was hard to follow. :

i definitely agree with you on that one...the whole way through the film, it felt like it had got ahead of itself, and was then running to catch up!
I did see another movie called 'Crash' and i can highly recommend that one.

I really don't want to see the film now, the radio one was great, it was random without being goofy and the jokes were not annoying, which is the basic idea I get from what you people are saying about the film. Casting with hitchhikers is an important thing, from the trailers, it doesn't look like the film got it right. Ford doesn't look odd enough, Auther isn't confused enough etc.

I think I'll stick to the old radio show and the books.

The next episode is on Tuesday at 11:20pm, you've missed the first 3 or 4 episodes i think, but you can still enjoy the sharp humour.

I totally forgot about it being on the radio.

the 1996 david cronenberg film or the 2004 film set in LA? the 1996 film is my favourite film of all time, but then i am a bit twisted.

      hitchhikers. yeah. stretched. enuff said.

My sentiment exactly, i came out feeling the same. I went to see the movie today, I didn’t really enjoy it, was rather disappointed so I’m not going to go into details (lol). Its difficult to transfer the idea of the first book into film esp within the space of 2 hours.

Void, i was refferring to the Crash of 2004 set in LA...just goes to show that we are all infinitesimally connected in some way...and i shouldn't write long words if i can't spell them!

And Hitchhiker was too long at 2 hours...an hour and a half would have been better...i think it was a bit jumpy in the subject matter...one minute he was in this garden, falling in love with this girl, and the next thing, he's in outer space...i think a lot of that film should have gone on the cutting room floor! Not that i know much about movies, i just know what looks good, and makes sense to me...

I don't think even the harry potter films are quite two hours long...

It was an alright film. It could have been funnier. I just wonder why Douglas Adams didn't make it as funny or as good as the book..I mean, he did write it. I can understand why it was different. D. A intended it to be a little bit different, but I wish could of compared. But you know, I came out of that movie feeling pretty satisfied.....

If Douglas Adams was still alive today and had a part to play in this movie (during production) it would be 10 times better that it was. He died in 2001

I still thought it was entertaining, the special effects were great!!!!!

Douglas Adams started writitng the screenplay, and it was finished by Garth Jennings and Karey Kirpatrick. He did have something to do with it. Previously, Adams had written several versions of the screenplay, and was mixing and matching parts from those to form the screenplay they used. Jennings and Kirpatrick just continued this process. So, Adams did write it...

Yeah, the reviews I've seen of it have said across the board that it wasn't really that good. Consequently, I'm not going to see it.
