Check out this band now. The new album is called Hypermagic Mountain and that's a pretty accurate description of how they sound. Always looking for good new music. Check out Machine Drum "Now You Know" Or Infected Mushroom "I'm The Supervisor" . Both are great discs in my eyes (ears). I'll let you know what I think of Lightning Bolt once I get it. P.S. Saw White Stripes at the Birch Hill in New Jersey right after WBCells was released. Probably my 2nd favorite live show. TOOL still tops the list. R.C.

I've never really come across anything that sounds even remotely like Lightning Bolt. Any suggestions?

Death From Above 1979 is just drums, bass, and vocals. But they're more hardcore/punk/whatever than actualy noise. But if you like super distorted rocking bass guitar and stuff, check them out. Anyway, yeah, Lightning Bolt is pretty cool. I only have some record I can't even remember the name of by them. I'll check it out again, haven't listened to it in forever.

Some bands you may enjoy if you like Lightning Bolt... I will put a (+) for bands that are more accessible, and a (-) for bands that are less accessible. DFA 1979 (+ + +) Tarantula AD (+) Pelican (+) Oxes (about the same) Behold... The Arctopus (-) Wolf Eyes (- -) *Note: (+) or (-) doesn't mean "better" or "worse". Well, maybe they do, depending on how tolerable your ears are to harsh noise.

*resurrects thread from the dead* Just found out about this band, Wizardzz, it's a side project of Lightning Bolt bassist Brian Gibson. That's the label's band site, they describe the sound as, "a creamsicle journey through car commercial jangltastic sound forgery. Rocking ... yes," and have a track for download.

Check out my avatar! MIndflayer is also the drummers side project and is really sweet. They also have a tour video called ''The Power of Salad'' that shows how they go about playing shows...they never play on stages, only on the floor to be with the audience. If you like Lightning Bolt I recommend you check out USAISAMONSTER, who are equally as brainmelting.
