The vast majority of my pre-adolescence took place in the 70's. I remember the cartoons of that era, and they kicked ass. On Saturday mornings from about 6 a.m. to about 11 a.m., all three networks (the only channels that existed then, other than PBS, which was also great then) would show one cartoon show after another. The line up changed every season, so there ended up being a zillion Saturday morning cartoon shows over the course of the decade, and all of the ones I remember were really cool. They were universes better than what kids have today on Saturday mornings.

My favorite show was The Bugs Bunny Road Runner show. It was on for 90 minutes every Saturday for a very long time. My other favorites were The Pink Panther, Honk Kong Fooey, Mr. Magoo, Yogi Bear, Fat Albert, Superfriends, Johnny Quest, Batman, The Globe Trotters, School House Rock, Star Trek (cartoon), Planet of the Apes (cartoon), Godzilla, The Fantastic Four, Grape Ape, Scooby Doo, and others. I can't even list all of my favorite ones right now, much less all of the ones there were, because there were so many of them. Some of these shows are shown on Boomerang now, and I have a whole lot of nostalgia for them.

There were also non-cartoon children's shows that were great, such as the Sid and Marty Kroft shows like Land of the Lost, Far Out Space Nuts, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and The Lost Saucer. There was Space Academy, which I really liked, and a show about people living in a camper in a war torn future or something. It was called Ark II.

There were two cartoon shows that I really liked but that I can't find anything about on the internet and for which can't find anybody who remembers them. I could swear they existed, but it is now as if they didn't. One was called Baggy Pants and the Nitwit, I think. The other one I don't know the name of. It was about a kid who had a ring that would shoot a beam at a giant robot who would come out of a big case and save the day. Does anybody remember this?

Any way, those of you who were alive in the 70's or weren't but are still opinionated, what were/are your favorite 70's cartoons?
